I think I saw jdavis882 respond to this, but if not, the lego just means the origonal blocky handle style, it's also the base handle style (meaning other versions like DGG and CC will cost more)
Off topic.. How did that cheap tumbler from harbor freight work for you? I saw they had that and a smaller non vibratory tumbler I was thinking about getting.
I agree to SNG GG is a little too thin and has somewhat sharp corners. But the SNG CC feels really good in hand. It fills the hand a lot better than the GG and I think youd dig it for sure.
i just got a 2013 SMF tanto tiger stripes, G10, 154 steel, and i really can't get into it. I think what gets me most is why it was the price it was and the handle feels strange..shame i was really looking forward to having one. Great videos as always. thanks for sharing
just wondering what ur experience has beeen: all 3 striders ive bought were pretty sharp 3/4s of the way from the base of the blade moving up, but the last fourth was really dull with crappy geometry. since i tend to tip cut into packages and mail,i was forced to regrind alot of life out of them to make them functionally effective. are your striders gound thicker near the tip? or were the three i had (since they were older) remodeled recently?
Good vid bro. I am BIG into Striders right now. Probably my favorite company at the moment. I can't choose between the SMF or SNG, so I just have to carry both sometimes. Haha
Is there a difference in thickness behind the edge between a FFG SnG and a 3/4 Grind? I've owned a few SnG's, but they were all FFG. I'm curious if the hollow 3/4 grind is thinner at the edge and better slicer. Thanks
Can't tell you man, that's like trying to decide between an old army issue humvee and a brand new honda civic. Pretty different world of knives, both great, but really different.
I've heard that in general, the quality, in terms of production, of smf's is better than sng's. What's your opinion on that? And I would really love to get my hands on either with a S3V blade!
If you can land a Direct Order both are great choices only separated by your preferences. Otherwise the standard SMF can do everything a XM-24 can (depending on grinds/steel) ALL without the ridiculous price so many people and shops sell the XM.
i have medium hands and handled all 3 sizes, just like the para2 ppl are gunna lean towards the SNG, imo its the perfect size for a medium-large folder for carrying i liked it alot, fit my hand like a glove. the SMF seemed quite big, like u said a little change makes a big difference, and if u have large hands ur gunna lean towards the SMF, the PT felt really small in my hand but it just fit a full grip for me, i like littlebig knives so PT is my fav but if i had the cash id get the PT and SNG
I would say SnG if you got small to medium hands and SMF if you got large or bigger hands, I got small hands and SnG is perfect for me but I can carry my SMF but it's a tad big for EDC for me but for outdoors use the SMF is perfect.
HAHA! Size is surely a good thing at times, but sometimes it causes problems as well. Like when you're trying to buy underwear... such a hassle... I stopped wearing them. Wait... I guess we're supposed to be discussing blades here. Either way.
Cant remember where, but I saw a strider with something called ghost stripes, believe its from Monkeyedge? I'm pretty sure it was from Smokeeater's collection, and it looked soooo daaamn awesome
@mikedifeo We should all be so lucky as to reach 63. Sure, getting old may suck - but it DAMN sure beats the alternative. I pray me and my wife reach that age. :)
Really? I havn't had the experience at all. Every strider I have owned have been really sharp (except maybe the front of my 3/4 tanto, just cause the angle of the grind is so obtuse there)
SMF all the way. Everything that is big is better. Whether is bigger in girth or in lenght larger is better. I am sure brother X4CTO will agree. So here is my reason for choosing the SMF. At 63 everythign is shrinking so I need a larger knife, LOL........... You can laugh now, just keep in mind it is coming your way as well.
wow, i was thinking that the sng? (smaller one) was still too big, then i saw the pm2 and it isn't that bad looking, but yea you got huge hands compared to mine haha. The para 2 is a big knife for me, it looked small in your hands.
ya srry i thought u said it was ur sng at first srry but im about to get an and cpm 154 i prob gunna order it tomorrow and ill make a vid on it after i order it so no body buys it before me lol
Yes, the 3/4 is much thinner behind the edge. Makes for a really good slicer, also has a thicker tip than the FFG.
No problem, thanks for watching
I think I saw jdavis882 respond to this, but if not, the lego just means the origonal blocky handle style, it's also the base handle style (meaning other versions like DGG and CC will cost more)
Wow! Good to hear man, I'm getting back on an Emerson kick of sorts. Hope to see some vids from you soon.
Excellent video as always Carter, great look at the dimensions of both knives.
Off topic.. How did that cheap tumbler from harbor freight work for you? I saw they had that and a smaller non vibratory tumbler I was thinking about getting.
@KBar666 Lego means its the original blocky handle style, as opposed to the Gunner Grips (with all of the divots) and the Concealed Carry models. :)
@5x56mm Yeah the 3/4 is definitely thinner, so shallow cuts will be easier. If making "through" cuts then the flat grind will work a little better.
thanks man you always compare to that paramilitary helps quite a bit
Intereting. That's the first I have heard anyone say something like that. What does it snag on? The media you are cutting through?
man that arctic sng is a thing of beauty!!
Yeah buddy! That sounds like a killer combo right there
I agree to SNG GG is a little too thin and has somewhat sharp corners. But the SNG CC feels really good in hand. It fills the hand a lot better than the GG and I think youd dig it for sure.
I havn't had this in a strider, but I have in other knives. I would just give it more time to break in before brining a dremmel into the mix
I like the SMF a lot. I'll eventually get it when the money and time is right.
i just got a 2013 SMF tanto tiger stripes, G10, 154 steel, and i really can't get into it. I think what gets me most is why it was the price it was and the handle feels strange..shame i was really looking forward to having one. Great videos as always. thanks for sharing

Man, so many striders!
Good vid bro. I am BIG into Striders right now. Probably my favorite company at the moment. I can't choose between the SMF or SNG, so I just have to carry both sometimes. Haha
New to Striders, what the Lego version mean?
CC I get. but if you could what are the diffrences?
Is there a difference in thickness behind the edge between a FFG SnG and a 3/4 Grind?

Can't tell you man, that's like trying to decide between an old army issue humvee and a brand new honda civic. Pretty different world of knives, both great, but really different.
Its not a feature. It functions as a blade stop for when the knife is closed. It hits the inside of the g10
I've heard that in general, the quality, in terms of production, of smf's is better than sng's. What's your opinion on that? And I would really love to get my hands on either with a S3V blade!
The cpm154 I have is an SMF. And don't think Ill sell any time soon LOL
True, in the extraordinary event you don't like it you can well, you know, sell/trade it no freaking problem.
If you can land a Direct Order both are great choices only separated by your preferences. Otherwise the standard SMF can do everything a XM-24 can (depending on grinds/steel) ALL without the ridiculous price so many people and shops sell the XM.

The SnG definitely is the right size for me. The SMF is a serious knife meant for some bad ass cutting!
Great comparison C! I'm wanting one or the other some time,,,
Thanks brother!
I would advise against it, go for the traditional rock tumbler instead, not the vibratory ones
Hmm....interesting. Can't say that I have noticed anything to back that. Seems as the the quality on all mine have been consistant between the two.
Yeah buddy!
Ever had any problems with rust on the tiger stripe finish?
HAHA! Size is surely a good thing at times, but sometimes it causes problems as well. Like when you're trying to buy underwear... such a hassle... I stopped wearing them. Wait... I guess we're supposed to be discussing blades here. Either way.
Hey carter, I noticed a couple times in the video you said sng when referring to the smf lol
Cant remember where, but I saw a strider with something called ghost stripes, believe its from Monkeyedge? I'm pretty sure it was from Smokeeater's collection, and it looked soooo daaamn awesome
CC with flamed TI and Tiger striped blade
I hear ya
Which would be better for an outdoorsman?
Zach Kerr A fixed blade. (so, neither.)
quick question, would you recommend the XM-24 or the SMF?
I just got done buying my smf im sweating for what i paid..hope its worth it
badboybootz8 did it worth it?
@mikedifeo We should all be so lucky as to reach 63. Sure, getting old may suck - but it DAMN sure beats the alternative. I pray me and my wife reach that age. :)
I'd go for the XM-24 then, for sheer collectability.
why the striped blade and what about stonewash
Really? I havn't had the experience at all. Every strider I have owned have been really sharp (except maybe the front of my 3/4 tanto, just cause the angle of the grind is so obtuse there)
Thanks for the info
Have you ever seen a strider smf with cpmd2 steel? I just got one from josh at strider knives!
Sweet!
nice vid thank you for sharing.
Thanks
Ha! I'm sure I did
Yeah, the SnG really isn't a huge knife. Especially the CC and DGG version. They are both a little too small for me
Thanx
SMF all the way. Everything that is big is better. Whether is bigger in girth or in lenght larger is better. I am sure brother X4CTO will agree. So here is my reason for choosing the SMF. At 63 everythign is shrinking so I need a larger knife, LOL........... You can laugh now, just keep in mind it is coming your way as well.
i properly already said this but if u ever want to sell that sng in cpm154 im up to buy(if price isnt crazy)
I do like the thinner blades, better cutting and I really don't think I will ever need something so fat.
I can't bring myself to spend 3-400 for one when the para 2 is 100 dollars
wow, i was thinking that the sng? (smaller one) was still too big, then i saw the pm2 and it isn't that bad looking, but yea you got huge hands compared to mine haha. The para 2 is a big knife for me, it looked small in your hands.
I could probably get an SMF for it, maybe even more XD
LMAO! Well said sir
That's what she said
maaaann im sooo jelly of all your striders here in my country you cant buy any..ever that alone for me is a reason too move to the US ;p
Cool Blades, One of these days I'll get off my wallet & pick one up!
ya srry i thought u said it was ur sng at first srry but im about to get an and cpm 154 i prob gunna order it tomorrow and ill make a vid on it after i order it so no body buys it before me lol
Mmmmm knifeness
Really? all the blades I have seen that weren't marked were Chinese mystery steel. =P only joking
Big hands, eh? :3 xD
Ha! Sorry to contribute to the nullification of your funds
LOL!
Fourth lol Damnit
