From 15:45 the story differ too much from the original movie. In the movie, Maui felt incompleted even with his hook back. But he still went to the Island of Te Fiti with Moana. He left Moana after being defected by Te Ka during their first fight. But he returned soon after Moana challenged Te Ka again on her own. If this festival by the villagers was based on what Moana told them, then Moana has ceased the help from Maui during first fight. And didn't express the true (and sad) reason of why Maui left her. On the other hand, it's Moana who discovered that Teka is, in fact, Te Fiti, and not Maui. When I first saw this celebration, I haven't watch the movie. I was wondering why Maui is that bad: it seems he just want his hook back and doesn't help Moana at all. But the movie provides a different story of Maui.
It's almost like the Creative team didn't watch the movie, why it's just 20 mins of actors dancing to generic Polynesian drums without the film's iconic musical cues by Lin-manuel Miranda is beyond me.
