- All northbound 15 Freeway lanes reopened between Barstow and Baker early Sunday morning after a crash involving an overturned semitruck resulted in a miles-long traffic backup and stranded Las Vegas-bound drivers.

They are supposed to know how to contain that material. Charge the authority and the trucking company for your delay.
I find it alarming that a crash of a truck with batteries can cause this kind of shutdown and disruption of a major interstate thoroughfare.
. If this is the best that we can do, then we are in trouble as a nation!

We drove from L.A. to Vegas for a friend's wedding yesterday. We used the Google Maps app and took the detours provided. It took a few hours longer but we got here! No problem!!!
So six electric car batteries caused how much fuel to be wasted in this traffic jam?

I don’t understand why they didn’t set up a detour. There’s a back way out of Baker that runs past Kelso Train Station, now part of the park system. I have taken it many times. That road runs up to Nipton where you can get back on the 15 Hwy. Just outrageous. The temperature must have been over 100 degrees.
are you talking about the back road to a remote camp site that run across the rail road?
@@Baebon6259 I think it’s very near a rail line. I believe the road is called Kelso Cima. It has some major size bumps and dips. I’ve taken it up to Cima Road that also will take you to the 15 HWY. That exit out of Baker also will take you to the 40 HWY. You can also go out that way to Joshua Tree.

Something that dangerous should only have the best truck drivers. And the emergency crews should be trained to deal with this in a timely matter. This is not the first time this has happen and it won't be the last.

A semi will burn 1 gallon of diesel an hour to idle. If they ran out while sitting there 48 hours, they didn't have enough to make it to Vegas to begin with.
I was stuck in that nightmare of a traffic Friday morning by 8am didn’t make it to Las Vegas untill 8am the next day Saturday ive only experienced this mess of an accident one before when i was 10 years old cops were no help especially for those who were run out of water and food🙄🙄
My Cousin lives in Pahrump NV. Every time she leaves her house she takes water with her. When you live in the Desert you are prepared for things like this. Suggestion. Always make sure before driving across the desert you have Gas, water, and snacks! Be prepared!
