Hey neon ! I'm really excited for drift mechanics. I can almost do it with touchy hand break and a lot of counter /over sterring , but I'm sure with your skills you can make it a blast and more exsesable for other players I'd love running tandems with my friends just from my ocules quest 2 ! Its already blowing having this be available on standalone quest hardware, it's the only thing of it's kind I've really seen and I've had to search deep just for this already I have over 50 hours on this world alone and I'm excited for the future of drift mechanics !!!
PC Island has a classic American sedan with column shifter queued up for this summer. As of now there are no planned vehicles with column shifters coming for Quest Time Trial, unfortunately. Thank you for the feedback, highly appreciated!
I wish those vehicles work for full body. I tried it using my own custom character and unfortunately, my feet do not move when sitting. I even tried your special character, and the lawnmower and still doesn't work. Please get this to work again.
is there a car with a sequential? i havent tried yet but i feel like the manual would be a little tricky when you cant feel the stick also, is it possible to bind the throttle to my actual sim pedals? i dont have fullbody but i feel like being able to just use my pedals would be a nice touch

As a VRC user, and a person who drives a manual in real life, this is awesome! Seeing a manual in a virtual game that works is amazing! How did you get the gears to work? Have you implemented all gear types (common: 5 speed, 6 speed)? I'm hoping to get into Game Design/Simulation to build a world like this!
Thank you! The shifter itself is just basic trigonometry detecting the orientation which controls the gearing of the drivetrain, which for now only supports either automatic (R - N - D) or 6-speed manual with 6th gear replaced by reverse at low speeds. I will soon be rewriting the shifter code to allow more variations and gear layouts.
@@Varneon awesome! Honestly the best part is that the car stalls just like in real life! Really neat! It would be super funny if you added the car jerking forward or backwards if it stalls in first or reverse, so to make it more immersive
The interface for allowing complete racing sim input (Throttle, Brake, Clutch, 6-Speed Shifter, Steering Wheel) has been implemented for the last 1.5 years and has been fully functional until few months ago and I'm currently trying to resolve several issues introduced by recent VRChat updates. I will be posting news about the public implementation as soon as it is available.
I've played this game before, it was GREAT! But there is sort of a problem with shifting gears, I'm not sure if it's just my headset or if this is happening to everyone but I've held down the clutch while shifting but the car still died, Varneon, can you tell me why this is happening
The vehicles have semi-realistic stalling implemented, but due to the limitations of VR the controls can be confusing and some controls have to merged to even make them possible. Manual vehicles can be really hard to operate in the beginning so I have implemented a toggle into the world's quick menu called "Stall Prevention" which will prevent the car from stalling and allows you to practice driving a manual.
As of now there are no plans to bring the PCVR Island to Quest due to the complexity of the assets being used in the world. Adding Quest compatibility would severely limit my abilities to expand the world, which is why new worlds are made to work for Quest from ground up like Time Trial, which is just the beginning of what's about to come.

This was a very fun world! However wish the world was bigger or a free drive without barriers.

There are currently 2 reward vehicles for completing the time trial in 90 seconds and 60 seconds which are showcased in this video
