It's amazing to think how terrifying the ocean was. Before the more advanced navigation technologies, any ship that lost sight of the coast was almost certainly doomed. Once lost, there was little to no chance to find your way back.

These guys are literally the antipodes of flat earthers. They might lacked the education but they have the curiosity and the wisdom to embrace their new knowledge as a gift.
It is heartwarming to see them soak up knowledge and embracing it instead of pretending to know everything already. Their curiosity and childlike sense of wonder hasn't been extinguished yet an they enjoy learning new things about the world. Really, really wholesome. I kinda would love to see a follow-up video of this, where you might hand them a tablet with google earth on it, so that they could explore the world further, getting an even better understanding of the true scale of the world, due to the ability to zoom in up to street level. I guess I could watch them explore the world for hours, enjoying watching them explore places they might find interesting. I think that would be awesome.

Everyone thinks they know everything because of technology, and those who believe that way tend to be severely delusional about what they actually know and don't know. I was just saying it'd benefit us all to approach learning in a more "childlike" way.

Yes. It hits like a truck when I realize how mundane the globe is to me, when there's actually nothing mundane about it and we should be in constant awe of it. The sheer amount of water. I'd never truly realized how crazy it is that most of the earth is water. That seems to be the thing that mostly got to them.
I find myself envying the way these gentlemen use their faith to interpret and praise creation when they gain new knowledge about the world. They have brilliant minds and humble souls. Well done with this new experience, all four of you.

These people come from Pakistan, a country founded on the basis of religious separation. Pakistan had been held back by religion, hence these people act as if they have been pulled straight out of the time Islam was founded. Terrible

These gentlemen are wise men, they may not be formally educated the same way we are here in the Western World, but I adore how they embrace information & don't find it a threat to their faith & cultural upbringing. These guys need to be given a globe written in their native language so that they can explore our earth in their mother tongue - I think they would be so in awe of that kind of gift, it would be so precious to them because they are open to learning not resistant to it. This is the purest thing I have watched for quite some time ❤

I met a man like this. I showed him the location we are standing, on Google maps on my phone. I said "you recognise this place?" He's like "ye, is here " I zoom out and I show him the above view. And show him all the nearby villages and cities. And he is surprised. I zoom out more and show him the earth and it was mind blowing to him that we live on that ball, floating in space. It was completely mind blowing to him.
This was one heartwarming episode. The surprise on their faces when they're told this is a world map was so beautiful and uterrly genuine..A great video all round❤

The idea that science and religion are at odds is a pretty new thing for the most part and a lot of it comes from evangelical Christians. For hundreds of years the Catholic Church was one of the most advanced scientific institutions in the world.

It's amazing how much you take for granted living in the USA. I saw my first world globe when i was a little boy over 30 years ago. I never though of something so simple as a luxury. It is amazing to get to watch these gentlemen experience the world with new eyes.
More people have to understand that only about 10% of humanity live in first world countries: North America, Western Europe, and parts of Oceania. Half of humanity lives in SouthEast Asia and rest is spread on other parts of the world, none of them with so much safety (nobody can invade USA) as Americans.
It's my birthday today, and this really made me smile. To see these gents expand their knowledge of the world was honestly amazing. I especially liked how their eyes lit up with fascination when they realised just how much water there was on Earth, and how happy they were to find their country on the map. It honestly made my day.

I'm Pakistani and every school I went too had at least one globe, although most of them were in cities with better facilities, the older population here is also considerably more illiterate than the younger

In the ever globalizing world, videos like this remind us that there are still people who are isolated from much of it. It's opens a world of difference in perspectives that one might never have imagined before.
I also love how they are taught with respect to knowledge and beliefs they already have. And how they are admiring world as a gift from God they believe. If you can get a large flat map, you can place push pins where the fans live that send gifts. A lot of restaurants here will allow customers to place a pin on their maps to show which state the customer lives.
Yep, on the wall behind them! It would also be great to explain how far distances are, New York to California would take my at least 4 days to drive! It takes me at least 15 hours to drive from border to border in California, & I know for certain it takes 12-14 hours to drive straight through from Albuquerque to my home in Central Coast California! And it takes me 2 3/4 days (stopping for the night) to drive from my home to the Farmstead in North Dakota!
With its distorted proportions, e.g. Greenland looking huge and Australia looking small, a flat map might confuse them after only just learning that Earth is a globe?

I watched a different Tribals channel where they talked about the solar system, and none of them seemed to be able to grasp that there’s only one sun. They actually said that they believed when the sun came up, traveled the sky and then set in the evening, that their country had its own sun, and other places had *their own* sun. It pretty much blew my mind to think that in 2024 there are MILLIONS of people who know absolutely nothing about the world we live in (and on). What a wonderful gift to show our favorite Uncles the way the earth really looks! ❤
oh yes, i know the channel and i remember when parvati said she thought every country had their own sun.. This is so beautiful and heartwarming. These are men with families and jobs. Learning about the Earth would be so amazing for them AND their children. Please give them all a globe to take home to their families. They should also have a book that tells them the translation of names to their language.
Most don't read but the idea of a book is a good idea. I would make it a video with matching book they put on their TV screen. I think some have a TV they share.

This guys are my cure against depression. There`s curiosity and positiv attitude thowards new things shows how simple things are in life. You can find good things in everything in life.

This was actually really refreshing to watch. They don’t refute or deny the information presented, they except it and even relate it to there previous knowledge and beliefs. They want to learn where other countries and cultures are and want to be able to travel and experience them.

I found this one of the most interesting TPT videos. (to be honest. the endless succession of dishes, mainly from the USA, gets a bit samey) More challenging ideas should be introduced! The view from the ISS for example.
I was Canadian born but grew up globally with English as a Second Language teacher parents; my dad summers with me just over 6 months to keep our health care, but taught English and Programming for a decade, now wintering in the Philippines. He was horrified to see so many students eating Exotic Western KFC: "General Tso outranks Colonel Sanders!" His last year in China he brought some postcards showing Ottawa and Toronto Chinatowns; some smirks at the punny names, but real laughter came when someone spotted they all had "Printed In China" on their backs. He also brought them several takeout menus; the pictures of huge portions and the ingredients led to much more laughter; "They call THAT Chinese?"
Now that was fascinating. How quickly they grasped the concept. Greets from New York. Hope they find it on the globe. And hope they each got one to bring home. 😊❤

Back in the late 80's I moved to Tibet to teach ESL. I took about 20 globes that you blow up like a beachball - about this same size. My students were moderately well versed geographically speaking, but several of them had never seen the world in a globe fashion. They made wonderful gifts and the perspective it provided was marvelous. The reactions of my students to learning things was priceless - much like this video.
Gosh, it never occurred to me that they had never seen a globe! You should show them the feeds from the International Space Station. It's wonderful, so relaxing and educational.
This humbles me that we in America take our education so much for granted. I was probably a toddler when I first saw a globe or at least a picture of a globe. These men are incredibly wise and intelligent and yet they have just seen a globe for the first time. I truly enjoy watching and learning from these people.
I had the same thought! Over the holidays, we gave my four-year-old niece an interactive globe. She can touch the globe and run through different learning games on it, all of them designed to teach her things about the world. Her globe has some topographical features, too. I had similar toys when I was a child. Our educations begin early, here - well before formal enrollment in a school. I am sorry that these gentlemen missed out on the opportunity to experience the wonder and joy of exploring a globe as a child, but I am thankful that they get to experience that now - and that they shared it with us! It makes me look at the globe through new eyes. I hope they get to take the globe home and share it with their friends and family members.

In case it crosses anyone's mind, we don't watch this to mock them or make fun of them for being unaware of these things. They've never had access to it before, how could they be? What I appreciate most about these videos is the childlike joy and wonder of discovering something new to them, the excitement is legit contagious! And it's always cool hearing them compare stuff we're familiar with with their own culture, which is quite different from ours. It's not a mockery, it's a celebration and sharing of the joy of learning. c:
Good point. It's all about seeing things through new eyes. They came off as fun and respectful. Maybe they lack what many westerners have, but they demonstrated goodness. In some ways, they have what others lack.
Their expressions of amazement are inspiring and remind me of my curious childhood, when I learned the very same insight out of the blue. A humble reminder that we as individuals don´t actually own all the human knowledge, neither we are entitled to receive it like a birth right, we (as singular humans) just borrow a small fraction of it according to our priviledge access and limitations. So all I can think about is to be grateful for all the huge and undeserved scientific knwoledge gathered, processed, organized and taught by our ancestors, generation after generation. Now that we received such gift without all that previous effort, it is our responsability to contribute in some way to preserve, verify, correct, update, expand, and pass on more and better knowledge to the next generations.

Yes, that was a missed opportunity to distinguish South America from North America (continents). And then distinguish Brazil (a country in South America). And then distinguish that Canada, the United States (of America), Mexico, and all the Central American countries are all part of North America.

There are also dicussions about Europe and Asia, some authors consider them one continent and not two. I don't know when people began to think that America is the name of a country and not a continent. The Spaniards were rather late in calling America that, they called it "las indias occidentales".

It amazes me that the people in the comments don't understand what being a tribal person means. You have access to more knowledge than them, and you're aghast at how little they know. They have said before they are not educated. Funny enough, the stuff they know helps them survive life. Most people, in the comments, wouldn't have a clue how to survive as a self-sustaining group, like they do.

It's amazing that none of them turned defensive and try to reject the new knowledge. Though they tried to adjust it into the world view they had, they didn't reject it.
Most of the stuff they've seen I pretty common sens, since they did confirm that they watched movies, maybe they even listen to radios. The water part is probably the thing that confused them the most since it's prob not mentioned very often and sort of taken for granted.
Show them Carl Sagan - Pale Blue Dot, and explain to them what they are seeing. Half the Earth and moon lit up in daylight by the sun. The other half in dark at night. And I'm sure they would appriciate the translation of his message.

These guys are literally the antipodes of flat earthers. They might lacked the education but they have the curiosity and the wisdom to embrace their new knowledge as a gift.

It is heartwarming to see them soak up knowledge and embracing it instead of pretending to know everything already. Their curiosity and childlike sense of wonder hasn't been extinguished yet an they enjoy learning new things about the world. Really, really wholesome.
I kinda would love to see a follow-up video of this, where you might hand them a tablet with google earth on it, so that they could explore the world further, getting an even better understanding of the true scale of the world, due to the ability to zoom in up to street level. I guess I could watch them explore the world for hours, enjoying watching them explore places they might find interesting. I think that would be awesome.

Everyone thinks they know everything because of technology, and those who believe that way tend to be severely delusional about what they actually know and don't know. Yes. It hits like a truck when I realize how mundane the globe is to me, when there's actually nothing mundane about it and we should be in constant awe of it. The sheer amount of water. I'd never truly realized how crazy it is that most of the earth is water. That seems to be the thing that mostly got to them.
I find myself envying the way these gentlemen use their faith to interpret and praise creation when they gain new knowledge about the world. They have brilliant minds and humble souls. Well done with this new experience, all four of you.

These people come from Pakistan, a country founded on the basis of religious separation. Pakistan had been held back by religion, hence these people act as if they have been pulled straight out of the time Islam was founded. Terrible

These gentlemen are wise men, they may not be formally educated the same way we are here in the Western World, but I adore how they embrace information & don't find it a threat to their faith & cultural upbringing.
These guys need to be given a globe written in their native language so that they can explore our earth in their mother tongue - I think they would be so in awe of that kind of gift, it would be so precious to them because they are open to learning not resistant to it.

I find it more wild that in the west we have people who believe that earth is flat or not sure that the earth is round.

I said "you recognise this place?"
He's like "ye, is here " I zoom out and I show him the above view. And show him all the nearby villages and cities. And he is surprised.
I zoom out more and show him the earth and it was mind blowing to him that we live on that ball, floating in space.
It was completely mind blowing to him.
This was one heartwarming episode. The surprise on their faces when they're told this is a world map was so beautiful and uterrly genuine..A great video all round❤

The idea that science and religion are at odds is a pretty new thing for the most part and a lot of it comes from evangelical Christians. For hundreds of years the Catholic Church was one of the most advanced scientific institutions in the world.
@@kapitankapital6580 The conflict thesis was a made-up thing by philosophers who wanted to throw away 1000 years of science because it didnt fit their ideas and egos (E.g Voltaire and d’Alembert). It was further put forward by Draper and White in the 1800s. Both of which has later been deemed more interested in shading and forcing their skewed ideas than any sort of historically based facts.

It's amazing how much you take for granted living in the USA. I saw my first world globe when i was a little boy over 30 years ago. I never though of something so simple as a luxury. It is amazing to get to watch these gentlemen experience the world with new eyes.

More people have to understand that only about 10% of humanity live in first world countries: North America, Western Europe, and parts of Oceania. Half of humanity lives in SouthEast Asia and rest is spread on other parts of the world, none of them with so much safety (nobody can invade USA) as Americans.

It's my birthday today, and this really made me smile. To see these gents expand their knowledge of the world was honestly amazing. I especially liked how their eyes lit up with fascination when they realised just how much water there was on Earth, and how happy they were to find their country on the map. It honestly made my day.

I'm Pakistani and every school I went too had at least one globe, although most of them were in cities with better facilities, the older population here is also considerably more illiterate than the younger

If you can get a large flat map, you can place push pins where the fans live that send gifts. A lot of restaurants here will allow customers to place a pin on their maps to show which state the customer lives.
Yep, on the wall behind them! It would also be great to explain how far distances are, New York to California would take my at least 4 days to drive! It takes me at least 15 hours to drive from border to border in California, & I know for certain it takes 12-14 hours to drive straight through from Albuquerque to my home in Central Coast California! And it takes me 2 3/4 days (stopping for the night) to drive from my home to the Farmstead in North Dakota!

I watched a different Tribals channel where they talked about the solar system, and none of them seemed to be able to grasp that there’s only one sun. They actually said that they believed when the sun came up, traveled the sky and then set in the evening, that their country had its own sun, and other places had *their own* sun.
It pretty much blew my mind to think that in 2024 there are MILLIONS of people who know absolutely nothing about the world we live in (and on).

it really made me sad to see that there are still people on this world with so much less education. i am a hobby astrophotographer ( not a good one but i try my best 🤣) and i really wish someone would send them some binoculars to watch the nightsky..

This is so beautiful and heartwarming. These are men with families and jobs. Learning about the Earth would be so amazing for them AND their children. Please give them all a globe to take home to their families. They should also have a book that tells them the translation of names to their language.
Most don't read but the idea of a book is a good idea. I would make it a video with matching book they put on their TV screen. I think some have a TV they share.
The majority of them have cell phones now so they could actually pull up the info on their phones and watch videos of the earth.

This was actually really refreshing to watch. They don’t refute or deny the information presented, they except it and even relate it to there previous knowledge and beliefs. They want to learn where other countries and cultures are and want to be able to travel and experience them.

I was Canadian born but grew up globally with English as a Second Language teacher parents; my dad summers with me just over 6 months to keep our health care, but taught English and Programming for a decade, now wintering in the Philippines.
He was horrified to see so many students eating Exotic Western KFC: "General Tso outranks Colonel Sanders!"
His last year in China he brought some postcards showing Ottawa and Toronto Chinatowns; some smirks at the punny names, but real laughter came when someone spotted they all had "Printed In China" on their backs.
He also brought them several takeout menus; the pictures of huge portions and the ingredients led to much more laughter; "They call THAT Chinese?"
I love their acceptance as what was previously unknown as a beautiful blessing to them. Beautifully spirited people.

Back in the late 80's I moved to Tibet to teach ESL. I took about 20 globes that you blow up like a beachball - about this same size. My students were moderately well versed geographically speaking, but several of them had never seen the world in a globe fashion. They made wonderful gifts and the perspective it provided was marvelous. The reactions of my students to learning things was priceless - much like this video.
Gosh, it never occurred to me that they had never seen a globe! You should show them the feeds from the International Space Station. It's wonderful, so relaxing and educational.

This humbles me that we in America take our education so much for granted. I was probably a toddler when I first saw a globe or at least a picture of a globe. These men are incredibly wise and intelligent and yet they have just seen a globe for the first time. I truly enjoy watching and learning from these people.
I had the same thought! Over the holidays, we gave my four-year-old niece an interactive globe. She can touch the globe and run through different learning games on it, all of them designed to teach her things about the world. Her globe has some topographical features, too. I had similar toys when I was a child. Our educations begin early, here - well before formal enrollment in a school. I am sorry that these gentlemen missed out on the opportunity to experience the wonder and joy of exploring a globe as a child, but I am thankful that they get to experience that now - and that they shared it with us! It makes me look at the globe through new eyes. I hope they get to take the globe home and share it with their friends and family members.

In case it crosses anyone's mind, we don't watch this to mock them or make fun of them for being unaware of these things. They've never had access to it before, how could they be? What I appreciate most about these videos is the childlike joy and wonder of discovering something new to them, the excitement is legit contagious! And it's always cool hearing them compare stuff we're familiar with with their own culture, which is quite different from ours. It's not a mockery, it's a celebration and sharing of the joy of learning. c:

Good point. It's all about seeing things through new eyes. They came off as fun and respectful. Maybe they lack what many westerners have, but they demonstrated goodness. In some ways, they have what others lack.
Their expressions of amazement are inspiring and remind me of my curious childhood, when I learned the very same insight out of the blue. A humble reminder that we as individuals don´t actually own all the human knowledge, neither we are entitled to receive it like a birth right, we (as singular humans) just borrow a small fraction of it according to our priviledge access and limitations. So all I can think about is to be grateful for all the huge and undeserved scientific knwoledge gathered, processed, organized and taught by our ancestors, generation after generation. Now that we received such gift without all that previous effort, it is our responsability to contribute in some way to preserve, verify, correct, update, expand, and pass on more and better knowledge to the next generations.
I will say, there's a tinge of patronization to at least half of the comments.
@@fahrenheit2101 I haven't read the other comments, I just know that while watching these, I'll often comment "Oh these guys are so adorable! The childlike joy in their eyes is infectious!" to my partner while watching that and I *genuinely mean it*. I just want people to know that while there are some people out there patronizing them, most of us just genuinely love them and mean nothing rude with our adorations. If someone IS patronizing them in the comments, that's just bloody rude. Shame on them.

And they're soooo willing to just take in everything and enjoy the newness of it. Yes, that was a missed opportunity to distinguish South America from North America (continents). And then distinguish Brazil (a country in South America). And then distinguish that Canada, the United States (of America), Mexico, and all the Central American countries are all part of North America.

@@patriciamorgan6545 That depends on the classification, some authors consider South America and North America two different continents and others consider them one big continent as the Spaniards named "América" after Américo Vespucio the whole territory. There are also dicussions about Europe and Asia, some authors consider them one continent and not two. Phisical, cultural, political and historical aspects are considered in the different points of view about the topic.
@@ticholopeluche The five rings of the Olympic flag represent the five continents. On the first map of America, the name was located in what is now South America. I don't know when people began to think that America is the name of a country and not a continent. The Spaniards were rather late in calling America that, they called it "las indias occidentales".

this is actually incredible to witness!! people from the middle ages would have had the exact same reaction to seeing a perfectly accurate world map, and getting to see a glimpse of what that reaction might have been is fascinating to me

It amazes me that the people in the comments don't understand what being a tribal person means. You have access to more knowledge than them, and you're aghast at how little they know. They have said before they are not educated.
Funny enough, the stuff they know helps them survive life. Most people, in the comments, wouldn't have a clue how to survive as a self-sustaining group, like they do.

Superb. It’s so easy for us in the “developed” world to forget that not everyone had the opportunity to have a similar school education.
Let them have fun with Google map and Street View. They can almost visit any places with Street View. 👍
I often explore with Google map and I've noticed that most places outside the US cultural sphere, like the Muslim world don't have street view.
@@Dainichi_NyoraiIt's because google is an american company so usually only their allies will allow them. But Jordan, Palestine, Senegal, Tunisia, UAE, and Qatar are probably the only muslim countries to have street view (also malaysia and indonesia)
@@Dainichi_Nyorai They can have street view on local maps websites. For example, in ex-USSR Yanex Maps is more popular so it might have Street view of many places that Googla Maps doesn't have

It's amazing that none of them turned defensive and try to reject the new knowledge. Though they tried to adjust it into the world view they had, they didn't reject it.
Most of the stuff they've seen I pretty common sens, since they did confirm that they watched movies, maybe they even listen to radios. The water part is probably the thing that confused them the most since it's prob not mentioned very often and sort of taken for granted.

Show them Carl Sagan - Pale Blue Dot, and explain to them what they are seeing. Half the Earth and moon lit up in daylight by the sun. The other half in dark at night. And I'm sure they would appriciate the translation of his message.

The joy these men feel from seeing the globe is incredible. I’ve always loved globes, and I’ve always enjoyed finding my home or places I’ve been or know. It’s universal
