Gorkha is one of the 77 districts in Nepal. It was a small Kingdom of King Prithivi Narayan Shah, the guy who unified Nepal. So basically Gorkha expanded, grew in sizeand became Nepal. As people from Nepal are called Nepali, people from Gorkha are called Gorkhali which somehow the Brits started calling Gurkha maybe because Gorkhali is difficult for them to pronounce. So all Nepalese call themselves Gorkhali because it’s the origin of the country.

P.s India still has Gurkha regiment because, when the British left India, Gurkha regiment were divided and left behind to protect the New Democratic country.. so, there r still Gurkha regiment in Indian army, British army even in Singapore police and Brunei army. Just compare this country with any other countries, and see how geographically gifted this country is.
