Marvel Beginnings Series 1 release in 2022 I think will be crazy! The X-Men set was (and still is) awesome, but Marvel Beginnings I think will be a game changer. Can't wait for my two boxes to come in!
Loved attending that show! Much better than last year's show - this show is going nowhere but UP! Great energy at this show and a great variety to chose from. Gobs of vintage! (That's what I'm into). Looking forward to next year already.
I just pulled a box out of my basement from when I was a kid, and I had several sets of all 1990, 1991 Marvel cards. Full sets, and many doubles especially of Wolverine and Hulk cards. I didn't even remember collecting these. They were all in plastic then so they are all in perfect to almost perfect shape. For a non dealer, what is the best way to start selling these?
When I was 11, I had a shoebox stuffed with Marvel cards. I went off to school one day and came back home to find my twin baby sisters sitting in the middle of the living room in a pile of strewn cards creasing and bending them with their dirty little baby fingers. My mother was napping on the couch, completely clueless to my outrage and disgust. I still remember a Wolverine card with chocolate pudding finger prints across the front side. "You can always buy more can't you?" I was told. I let my sisters keep them and never collected them again. The cards were tossed away the next day. The best one left might have graded out a 1. Aw the memories.

I understand it’s a low pop now, but the population of that card could easily go up right? It’s not like you will never be able to get another Trout RC signed
Possibly 2mil for that spiderman card that crazy I think the highest price for the highest grade AF 15 sold for maybe that I'd be extremely saprised if that card worth 2mil or close to it but card collecting in the states is crazy
Great Buy on the Trout Auto RC Geoff, but I'm gonna be super critical here and humbly say that I personally would preferred one where the Trout Auto is signed in the dark blue THIN marker. The one here is signed with the "fatter" marker and the autos tend to be somewhat "translucent" with those fat markers, and I think they tend to fade faster over time. And of course the eye appeal of the thin autos are much better. I think that's why this card is found with both the thin and the fat marker auto, as Trout (or whoever) realized the fat marker is no bueno, and had him switch to a diff marker halfway thru signing those cards! Regardless, great pickup! Just stay away from "fat" autos!
Cool video! I would be nervous investing in signed cards just on the merit of low population. What prevents Mike Trout from signing 200 of them in the future?
You do have a very point. I guess the assumption is any Mike Trout card that is worthy of a 10 has already been graded by now… so seems like a risk to crack a slab to get it signed & re graded
Exactly and Geoff’s sheeple were all over me when I said he overpaid for the Bo Jackson in the first video. Most people just want an auto and don’t care about the grade of the card or the auto and why they save $1900 because you an pick up Bo autos for about $50.
Enjoyed meeting you at the Culture show in Atlanta…I had a great card to show you..but you were getting ready to do a segment and I didn’t want to interrupt you…. It was a 1998 Peyton Manning Legacy rookie…19/100……PSA 10 Super rare card and a POP 2….going to be at the Spartanburg show if you are going to be there April 2
Honest question. What is the point of grading a 1 of 1? No matter the grade, it's the only card in existence... does it really matter? Asking honestly... just thinking to some of the old Honus and Cobb cards that grade extremely low but still sell for a ton because they are so rare...
I think it helps, but only marginally. There are a lot of people who might pay a premium, even over the normal for 1/11, just because its slabbed. It is almost permanently locked into its condition. In other words, there is now a lower risk of damage in the future. Personally, I wouldn't spend the money to grade, but might be more inclined to buy it once its graded. On top of the protection from damage, there's some theft protection as well since you can register the card as yours. Then if it was ever stolen and sold, you could prove the card was actually yours.
I grade cards for a few reasons…but in this case assuring the card is genuine is paramount. I enjoy grading cards for preservation, identification, and presentation. It removes the guesswork when selling or trading, plus it can educate those not as deep in the hobby as to what they are looking at!
Not a dumb question! We too have noticed it is hard to index where all the shows are so we are working on a show list that will live on our website soon! Stay tuned!

I feel the comic cards like this 1 of 1 is just a produced collectible, but comic hobby collectors would take the supposed hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars the Spider-Man card is supposedly worth, and spend that money on ORIGINAL COMIC BOOK ART which is also 1 of 1, one of a kind, but has a higher prestige within the comic hobby, as it's artwork, hand drawn, and used to produce comic books. A one of a kind printed comic card does nothing much for comic collectors compared to high grade comics or original art. For those who don't know much about that sector of the hobby, if you visit Comic Art Fans website, you'll be enlightened by how awesome original art is. The comic cards are nice, but I can see volatility in the values of any card that's escalated by leaps and bounds in the last 5-10 years or priced over four figures ($1k) for the most part unless something intrinsic like an original art sketch card or autograph by Stan Lee or film actor.
Nah, it’s more of a brag thing with people at these shows. It’s why you rarely see actual cash transactions on the high dollar items because it’s just trading one high dollar for another. I see more people with their lists buying raw vintage cards to make sets and digging through the dollar boxes. The people with the cases and cases of graded badly have anyone at their tables because so many of us can’t afford most of what they have and you can find hundreds of the same card with pop counts so high.
Great video! Great seeing you representing the other content creator’s especially the younger guys! Really great to see #marvelcardsbaby getting some representation! That’s cat!
now everyone is going to be buying those mike trout psa 10 cards on ebay and sending them to a signing event to get autographed. I don't see how this card increased almost $8K with his autograph when you can probably pay a lot less to buy one on ebay and have him sign it. Yes it's rare for now but it doesn't seem that hard to get.
I'm not sure if he has said this publicly or not, but it's my understanding that he refuses to sign the Topps RC. If this is true, that means the pop on this card is unlikely to go up. Can someone else corroborate that?
