Daniel. Just want you know this video is the soundtracks to different parts of my life. Over the last few years I pop on this video periodically. Whenever I need to calm my nerves this is what gets played.
This song is forever ingrained in my mind. Metal Gear Solid was the first one of the series I've played. I still have the original PlayStation version and the demo disc that featured it as well. The demo played up to the DARPA Chief in the holding cell. I wonder how many younger gamers know about the multiple disc setup for these older games?
I'm just starting to learn fingerstyle so I think this song is a bit beyond me at the minute but I'd love to learn it. I find learning fingerstyle from tabs incredibly difficult though, there's so much going on at once that I don't really know which finger to be use for each note on the fretboard and end up getting my left hand tied up in knots trying to reach the next note.

You can do it, it takes time but it becomes easier when you look at it from simple angles, and break everything down before jumping into the whole fingerstyle song straight away. A great place to start for me is with just learning the chords to the song itself. Then, singling out the melody by ear, one note at a time (It can take a while).Figuring out the key helps, too. For instance, the bulk of this song (everything after the intro) is only two chords. Those chords are: A minor, and G major. If you practice those chords, get used to them, play around with a few of their shapes, you might find it much much easier to learn the fingerstyle version!

I usually play the song differently every time after all, so what I try to do is include just the essential stuff in the tabs, like the lead melodies and such. In that way, they're kinda more like guidelines for the songs, but I hope they help you nonetheless and if you have any questions about how to play them I'm always happy to help via here on youtube or through an email man!
