I can't believe this happened more than a year ago at this point. Time is passing so quickly, all the more so with this pandemic. But it's also my age. I remember listening to 'Send Down The Rain' all the time in the early 90's and loving Majek Fashek's music. So talented and charismatic. Now I'll be 50 in a few weeks, and it seems that every week my husband and I learn of another death of a musician from our younger days, whom we admired so much. And no intention of defamation here, but he did have a prior drug history. It takes a recovering addict to know another recovering addict. And anyone can succumb to cancer. This doesn't change his massive international influence in music.
I personally visited Majek and Uzor at Buckhead Apartment in Atlanta. We spend Lots of time together. As a matter of fact I visited them twice. Dread or Last prophet was a nice guy to hang out with. He was contented with whatever he had, not a big fan material things He was nice and good hearted soul. His eldest brother was married to my elders sister, so I knew personally. Uzor was very Dedicated to Majek. He was more like a person servant than a manager. He loved Dread for real. I witnessed the relationship and bond that existed between them. At Buckhead Apartment,their rooms was opposite each other and ,Uzor was so meticulous that he won't allow any female visitor to be in Majek room with her Cell number. He does that to avoid scandal. A million Thanks Uzor.
