So this is the first time I have ever heard of this band... and I already have that wonderful gut feeling that this is going to be one of those bands that I will like for many years.
About 12 years ago I was in a very abusive relationship, in the deepest depression I’ve ever been in. I drove 3 hours north and locked myself away for a weekend in the empty house my friends and I were supposed to move into together in the following months. I was trying to summon the urge to end my own life for those days, and I listened to this song many times. I mourned how hopelessly broken I felt in that relationship. The more I listened to it, the more my mindset began to shift to hopefulness, despite at first relating to the song primarily as an expression of despair and the deep confusion and loss of self that comes from being immersed in something so manipulative. I truly feel that I may not be alive if you hadn’t shared this song with the world. Many thanks for doing it. I just listened to it today for the first time in years and feel so much compassion for my younger self. I’m glad she chose to stick around.
Andy Hull's lyricism is nothing short of brilliant. It's so intimate...you almost feel like you know him after listening. And not to mention the guitar tone on this song is one of the best I've ever heard.
This song is quite possibly one of the best and most meaningful songs of all time. The lyrics, the emotion, the melody...it's just an orgasm of greatness. Means so much to me
In the deepest dark of my life with no hope this album game me strength where I found hope and beauty when all I knew was doubt. Thank you so much for doing what you do, you guys are truly amazing.
another one of those captivating songs with lyrics that are intoxicating. I have loved Manchester Orchestra since the release of their first album.. this song leaves me in anticipation for May. So absolutely stunning. I love it.
Saw them live last night, they played this and it was absolutely WONDERFUL. Everything was absolutely fantastic. I will forever love Manchester Orchestra.
MO is a very personal band for me in a way where their music resonates with me so much. Idk the meaning of this song but my interpretation is of one questioning if God is real and all we thought we knew about the afterlife is wrong. It’s such an emotional ride whenever I listen to MO
Completely awesome song! I dont know how many times i have listened to it already and i am not even close to sick of it. And like another commenter said, the live version of this song on youtube is wicked too!
The melody at the beginning sounds like Pinback's "Rousseau" and the lyrics remind me of something Tim Kasher would write, but the song still has that good old Manchester Orchestra feel. Can't wait for the new album!
This is a very incredible song musically in terms of its dynamics, and amazing melody, but ALSO lyrically. I think it alludes to the idea that even if we lived in a world that was completely mathematical and with presumably no other apparent purpose, it would still be beautiful, and that views that seem to deny this could be wrong. It is only through questioning that we can find out whether we are right or wrong. That's my take on the song, anyway :)
I cannot wait for this album to come out. I heard it was supposed to come out on March 10th a month or so ago, and then I found out it comes out in May. I'm not looking forward to waiting two more months, but this song is amazing enough to tide me over until then.
This song is much better than their previous "hits" like "I've got friends" and "Shake it out", which should bode well for the rest of the songs on this album
Finding out what is needed for today music ride in back time so today another way to send the good enrgy to those who needs this now powerfull music can make a great person falling to there knees and say a prayer to them forgive them for you they need to knowe or notice the way music can be used to make sure that all can get back into the swing of things

What a brilliant union of the music video and the song!

The melody at the beginning sounds like Pinback's "Rousseau" and the lyrics remind me of something Tim Kasher would write, but the song still has that good old Manchester Orchestra feel. Can't wait for the new album!

That part is awesome.
This video and the video for Fleet Foxes' 'Mykonos' are probably the two greatest things to happen to triangles.
