I think one special thing that Jeremy's shows have brought to the public eye is the perspective of freshwater fish as dangerous to humans. Before River Monsters, I might have viewed crocodiles or hippos as dangerous freshwater animals, and also smaller animals like leeches, but never fish. Even large catfish, which I was familiar with and even saw as a child, I never thought of as dangerous to humans. The only dangerous fish according to wildlife programs were sharks or other large, predatory saltwater fish. Jeremy's show was the first to portray freshwater fish as porentially dangerous animals to humans.
