Audio Reactive Fractals (4K) - Let's Go for a Walk

- This video took almost 40 hours to render in 4K resolution, but it can run realtime at lower resolution and quality settings. Everything was made with with the PySpace library. It's not really user-friendly, but if you're an experienced Python programmer that's interested in rendering your own fractals, you can check it out here:

Optimize the hell out of that and we have the best visualiser on the market.
With Ray Marching it's highly unlikely it'll ever be optimized enough to work as a visualizer on current hardware. It is really cool though
@@drmilkweed That is true, but you don't need high resolution on small visualiser and I believe there's still place for improvement on the side of performance, and if complexity of the fractal was too big, you can always create smaller one.
@@karelmirim5547 from experience, I have to run marble marcher on the absolute lowest resolution on a machine that I just bought for $800. Dev and gaming rigs can probably do much better but as it stands, it's very very far from being optimized enough to be an on the fly visualizer. You'd also have to consider that the parameters being altered are very subtle on the scale of what this engine has been demonstrated to do. Things are just wiggling. Getting really trippy visuals, significantly changing the topology would take even more power. It's a neat concept but it's quite far from being a reality.
@@drmilkweed I managed to run it on the lowest resolution at 30fps on my 200€ 2010 rig. But I think you might be able to run it in smaller scale on even bigger lowend.
perhaps it could pre-load the positions in which to place all the objects first, then play it.
The fewer the 90° angles, the more terrifying the twitching fractal becomes
Nice this could be a marble marcher level where the music decides the terrain.
great idea lol
Or the environmental noise of the area you're currently in. Imagine sitting in the train station, trying to play this game haha.
@Marinus **turns of mic**
And the music is generated by his AI music Generator
Watching the video I had the same idea. I think it would be wonderful. Also Kay Jersch I love your idea.
"let's go for a walk"
*flies*
That is the song title.
🤣
I feel like I'm watching a cyriak video..
But more calming.

Yea but im not creeped out

“Well, looks like I’m about to have my first ever seizure.”
UA-cam seems to have devolved into recommending me virtual reality acid trip videos.
Welp... this has limitless potential to be an RPG game! I adore this!!!
In which way could this be and RPG?
Axel Lexa the caves and the forests
Rengar no u
Well it's already a game called Marble Marcher
@@liquidmetalrob but, thats not an rpg
I think instead of just having one variable of the fractal change in function of the music, you should change variable each time there is a beat and have a somewhat constant change
It's like Creating life with fractals
uranus is mine
you’re biological birther, you have been roasted, in the sense I have outplayed you in ingenious wordplay.
@uranus is mine Why
*”change the entirety of the world with just an auxiliary cable, and a small little speaker. Quite a wonderful peice of digital art.”* -something bob ross would have said... if only he was around to see this.
This is just amazing, it's the best visualizer I've ever seen.
Just watching this makes my GPU and mind explode.
This video is infinitely watchable.
Fitting.
Yes, let's go for a walk, a very enthusiastic walk.
Maybe try and alter the acceleration with the sound rather than the movement?
I was wondering, is there a way the fractals could interact in different ways to different frequency ranges, instead of moving all at once to overall volume changes? So instead of the whole shape moving in and out with the kick and snare, maybe some aspects move with those instruments, and other aspects move more smoothly with the higher synth melodies. Is there a way to make that work with fractal transformations?
@@FTForgotten425 I have no idea, I don't know how fractals are generated in his game, let alone at all. Very interesting though.
I’ve no idea what I just watched. But it was beautiful.
what if you made a marble marcher level where you controlled the terrain with your voice
Get the repo, get one level code (presumably one which can evolve) and just apply :D (And watch your PC burn into ashes)
*_commits tyler1_*
I remember a game that used singing as a platforming mechanic. That would basically just be that game but 3D and with fractal terrain.
@@Ethan-lx1vv super Mario 3D world?
@@wigglygrass3066 No, it was some small indie game. A 2d platformer that I think was linear. I specifically remember parts where the volume of your voice determined the curvature of some terrain, so you had to sing just right in order to create the terrain you would need to progress.
Absolute AWESOMENESS! You’ve unlocked the meaning of the Universe! 🎆🕉🦄
this would be so perfect for psytrance
Dunno why, but it makes me feel like it's a Pokémon city music, love it !
I am not lying when I say that this is what it feels like to be high out of your mind and listening to vapor wave
This is the trippiest thing I've ever seen
I'm completely blown away.
Music that make neurological,
pictures that make neurological,
video that make neurological
this is calming and cool at the same time
I was so not ready for this, but in a good way
That's so cool! It looks amazing, but the music really grabbed my attention. Particularly due to the sounds. That piano sound @ the start, I had it on an old Yamaha keyboard years ago. I still have the sounds from that, on a sampler.
It's freaking amazing dude!
Why do I have the feeling that these look like video game levels
1. Use weed
2. Watch this video
*Welcom to the fifth dimension*
Yeah! You can feel the 5th dimension pulsing with the music!
haha smoke an weed! haha wowza
whoa dude colors lmao!
drugs are bad. you should be in jail
@@HaxxorElite Lmao good one.
CodeParade - "Watch this in 4K for best experience!"

rip
I feel like if you watched this video while under the influence of a hallucinogen you would be guaranteed to have a bad trip.
Bruh I can’t even imagine what this would look like while on drugs
Yo its a freaking trip man
Not as cool as it seems, drugs don't really have as big of an effect on screens as they do on real life, staring at a tree is more interesting most of the time
It’s like the world is breathing and beating, which is fascinating and terrifying at the same time.
This, but you have a fever dream at the same time
My first song in the game
I didn't know i needed music reacting fractals until i saw this video.
This looks like a end of transmission clip that you see in a very random Channel at 3 am
Looks awesome, great job!
but how does one render such beauty in such high quality
Check their videos on rendering fractals
Seems like it's tuned to be much more sensitive to particular frequencies. I'm not sure what fractal properties you could control in a way that distinctly reflects different frequencies, but it would be neat to see something in the future that really functions like a fully 3d fractal visualizer. Good work.
Unknown moods to vibe to
THIS is beautiful
You've gotten very well info on this video.
My god... this was beautiful to look atn
This is what an acid trip looks like tbh
Well alrighty...now THAT was different in a very good way. More please😁
1) Cool.
2) Why hasn't there been a 3D first person game in which the world shifts/changes with the music like this? Could be a really cool game element
After I finish cleaning my dedicated GPU, I swear I'll try to mod Marble Marcher into a stereo mix in visualizer or something. Mapping different fractal properties to different bands has got to lead somewhere cool.
It could be fun to try making my own MM levels too..
World 1: Singing Forest
World 2: Melody Castle Ruins
World 3: Jungle of Rhythm
World 4: Dancing Undergrowth
World 5: Mighty Woods
World 6: Temple of the Music Gods
World 7: Steel Sea
World 8: Paradox Hills
world 3 for me is so cool, it appears as a boombox pulsing to the music, oh and Steel sea appears a 3D mandelbrot set
the last fractal... make it into a minecraft style game now.
the yellow regions would be a desert, as theres no trees there, the green regions with trees are the forests/plains, and the red and pink regions would be idk the underground
0:17 I just see the singing turrets in portal 2
This is peak demoscene. If only the demoscene was at its peak.
Why am I still awake? Its past midnight and I’m tired.
Im sure its healthy, if you watch 10 more videos
Ey its 11 am so your almost below me
A few steps away from suffering from insomnia
Go for a walk...
Are you still awake?
This would be awsome in virtual reality
Ok it’s only time until someone makes fractal worlds in minecraft
Level 1000 visualizer ....it's crazy awesome man
I need don't need my weed when I got this
Acid trip: the video
Marble marcher 2 will be a difficult one
I don't even know what I'm looking at. But it looks weirdly nice though

holy shit this is amazing
That's amazing!

1:12 is my new favorite
Very awe inspiring, like the beginning of the video with the spikes and tilt-shift
Bro if you made a 3D fractal terrain generator that could be explored in vr, big money
This hurts my brain... but it's really cool!
No no no no no no no I can't omg this is so triggering and I have no idea what phobia it even is
Enjoyable
I'm just brainstorming here... it seems like you're
mapping the audio track to a single [0,1] range, then
using that range to change one variable in each fractal.
What if you use [Fourier, im not sure which one] to bin the low/mid/high frequencies.
I bet with a little trial and error you could find which variable controls small or large parts of the fractal.
Map those to your audio frequencies, (small changes in the image = high intensity in the high frequency audio) and (large, preferably slow changes in the image = high bass)
and you get an image that moves in the same sort of "visual/audio" frequency
Imagine a fractal in spherical geometry!
When your fractal terrain generation becomes sentient and finds its first ever favorite song
I'm not surprised that you're a chiptune guy
Cool my guy!
feels like a more tamer version of cyriak
my gpu exploded just by watching this
Might sound crazy use the music to control the colors
Why am I watching this when I have trypopohbia
everytime i have a bad dream it contains a Ton of geometric shapes and fractals 😨

cool, somehow I missed this. I will post the link at our Mandelbulber facebook, they will love it
It would be So cool if you could trigger changes in The fractal with midi.
Amazing video. On what hardware did you render it ? Did it use full advantage of Cuda cores ? Funny because I was currently playing with perlin noise and convolutions for music renderer

Congratulations! You must a demo! Crunch it in 64k? Maybe 4k? Maybe even 1024k?
Can you run a neural network on these results, make it recognize certain fractals as trees, ground, etc and then use it to generate 3D fractal game levels without much performance issues, cause it's just fractals?
You should do one where it reacts to the melody
This looks like it came out of a nightmare
0:44 too many trees *2*
i just wish the music had a bit of a more fundamental impact on the fractal
