I took care of my father with dementia for 5 years. It was draining exhausting They are still them but they're not and it's like dealing with a forever two year old. I applaud you guys for what you're doing I could not do it any longer. My situation became that I was trapped in my house 24/7 because he needed constant watching And the wandering in the house in the night I wasn't sleeping. People will say things like.Oh, you were after his money or whatever well.I don't know too many people that would torture themselves for any amount of money.
I love that you talk to him constantly and keep his brain active... amd how you calm him down...I think you're doing great. Dont listen to them sidekicks no one needs a backseat driver lol
The people who complain have never had to deal with someone with dementia. I had to be very firm with my Mom otherwise nothing got done. I hated having to act that way but it was necessary. Because she was feisty.

Danielle and Ed' s relationship is like a childlike difficult father who has dementia and don't remember things most of the time. Ed reciprocates Danielle's hands on caring technique with much gratitude and fatherly affection. Every care giving case is unique and to cope with difficulties, a caregiver learns along the way how to deal with a particular patient more so if it involves a family. For a daughter in law, I think Danielle is doing absolutely great what she did to take care of Ed with Dan away for several days.
The problem is ,is you are super nice to him when ur drinking and then talk to him so harshly when ur not drinking. That doesnt help his confusion situation, i wouldnt think
