Carefree of Colorado RV Awning Soft Connect Replacement: DIY How To Replace A Carefree Soft Connect
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 сер 2022
- What is a "Soft Connect"? Carefree of Colorado powered RV patio awnings often include something called a Uniguard, which is a metal wrap that prevents the awning from billowing in the wind while driving down the highway.
The Soft Connect is a section of fabric that attaches the Uniguard to the side of the RV. Since that fabric is ALWAYS exposed to the sun (even when the awning is stowed), it's generally the first piece of material to break down due to UV rays.
But you don't have to remove the awning to replace it! In this short video, we'll not only show you how, but we'll tell you how to install a far better replacement that will last FAR longer!

I noticed something was missing in my feed, then it occurred to me, whatever happened to those RVGEEK Yeahoos? Using the process of elimination, I immediately found the answer in the latest question of your last video, obout a year ago.
Good to see youll, in the words of Schwarzenegger, be back. Congratulations on your successes with the RVERS. looking forward to your return. Best wishes and take care...
Thanks so much for your kind words! Until we’re back, hasta la vista, baby! 😄
I don’t own a RV anymore and don’t plan on getting a new one anytime soon but I still really enjoy your videos. Always well produced and direct to the point. Well done again
Thank you so much, Dan! You just made our day. ☺️
The last video of yous that we watched was several months ago when you installed new awning fabric on your awning. Decided to subscribe again and the first video we see is you replacing the soft connect strip on your awning😀. Its like we never left. Looking forward to watching all your future content. Thanks.
WOW! and YAY! What a Pleasant Surprise this morning! I miss these...
Thanks Mike!
👍I'm looking forward to the day all awnings on all windows having solar-powered panels.✌❤
It’s amazing your timing! I was just looking at this strip on my A&E awning thinking that I need to probably replace it before it flies off going down the road, and up pops the RV Geeks to the rescue! Thanks guys!
What a coincidence! I was just thinking about you guys the other day. Glad to see you, and with another great DIY topic to boot! 😎👍
Thanks so much Aaron! Good to be back. 😊
I had the same thoughts, Aaron, 7-10 days ago. So happy seeing the guys and their GREAT vids, again!!
Y'all Be Safe!!
Thanks Raymond! Much appreciated.
Amazing! I was just on a website just last week to price a soft connect for my Tiffin that is starting to tear. I’m glad I didn’t my have the exact measurement and procrastinated. This is super helpful, guys!
That's great to hear, Don! You're just in time to take advantage of one of our favorite sayings: "Friends don't let friends buy Carefree fabric!" LOL
Good Channel and contents
YAY! Another RVGeeks video. I was worried that you guys stopped uploading videos. I was just wondering when you guys were gonna upload a new video.
Nice video guys, greetings from holland🤪🇳🇱
I guess you guys got out of the RVing and got a boat. lol I used to love watching your videos. Hope you guys are doing ok. 👍👍
We are still RVing, but have been focusing on our blog, TheRVgeeks.com, and working on the Discovery channel television show The RVers. We may get back into making videos at some point in the future. Thanks so much for your comment.
Where have you guys been? We miss the videos
Thanks so much for asking, James! We’ve been shooting a television show for the discovery channel and PBS (The RVers), and focusing on our blog content (TheRVgeeks.com). But we may be back to UA-cam this coming year with our new RV.

the geeks!!!!!
Hi Dave! 👋
Hello, do you know if there’s anything available that you could attach to your awning? I have a butter 30 foot awning to keep the mosquitoes and blackflies out.
Hello! I saw your article online about best portable HEATED BLANKETS. Do you have a UA-cam video about these blankets? Or what’s your best portable blanket link rec? Thank you from San Diego!
We use a heated mattress pad and absolutely love it! Ours is so old, we don’t know how to recommend one other than suggesting that you look on Amazon, and get one that’s very well rated with lots of good reviews.
Nice Video. I have this Awing and did not know it had the soft connect. Have you had to replace the motor on your Carefree Of Colorado? Mine needs help retracting
We’ve never had to replace a motor on an awning, so sorry, we don’t know the process. But we would suggest that before considering doing that, you try tightening the spring to help it. The owners manual for your model awning should be available online, and is likely to have instructions on how to tighten the spring. One other thought… Make sure that your batteries are in good condition and aren’t the cause of the weak motor.
Thanks for the info. I will check Tention of the spring and the Batteries. Marlon
Can you help me we don't know what to do to keep our refrigerator/ freezer samsung style running while traveling in our GD momentum 395ms! Can you please help me!
Hi Kathy! Since you have a Samsung fridge, I assume it's a residential fridge, not an RV fridge. The only way to keep a regular residential 120-volt AC refrigerator running in an RV when it's not hooked up to shore power is by running a generator, or by feeding it power from a battery bank through an inverter. Since your rig is equipped with a residential fridge, I can't imagine it not having at least a considerable bank of house batteries, no?
Is everything okay with you guys, you haven't made a video in 11 months? Hope all is well. 🙏🏻
Thanks for checking in on us! We are good. Just switched to blogging ( www.thervgeeks.com ) and television (The RVers on the Discovery Channel, PBS & streaming).
@@RVgeeks Wow! good for you guys . congratulations on the new ventures.
What Viair compressor do y’all recommend?
We love both the 400P-RV and the 450P-RV. Can’t go wrong with either one.
@@RVgeeks THANKS.
I wonder why I’m not getting a video reminder? I get your emails but not notifications on videos…🤔
Sorry Debbie. Not sure. UA-cam has gotten terrible about it.
I'm not getting them either!?
Hey guys, had to look you up on you tube. I get your email but nothing else. Any idea why I am no longer getting notifications?
Hi Raymond! We haven’t been publishing new videos for quite some time while we focus on our blog. Not sure when we’ll get back to videos, but thanks so much for being in both places with us!
😳 Where have u 2 been hiding out? 🤔
Hi Ric! For the past year or so, we've been focusing on blogging about RVing at TheRVgeeks.com !!
Where is your friend
John? He's the "helper" feeding the fabric to Tyler!
