So for me the best epic moment in the entire series will always be (or so far at least) when he sacrificed himself for Luffy. I feel like when people think about that scene they're like "wow he's so loyal he gave up his life" and It's like NO, he not only gave up his life, he gave up his dream which was a much bigger deal for him. And to think he joined Luffy with the condition that he'd kill him if he ever got between him and his dream. His promise to Luffy, him letting some people beat him up because luffy told him so, him not wanting luffy to be humilliated, the sacrifice, swallowing his pride and asking his enemy to train him for the sake of his captain, telling luffy to get his shit together, etc. For me the captain-first mate bond of those two is far better than any anime duo out there right now. People have always liked him from the beginning because he acts like a badass (he is) but he started being my favorite after the fight with kuma.
