This comes from the Southern Roots sessions.. Heuy Meaux produced that album. Last year, they came out with some outtakes and chatter and put it together in a 2 disc collection. The first disc is the original Southern Roots album and the second one is all of the outtakes.
Except the live he did with Cris Isaak, he never did that song in concert. Quite a shame cause it' really a great song and once again Jerry sings it his own special way.
This was a studio throwaway. Paul can correct me. I think it was part of the Southern Roots session. It never touched vinyl. Never got airplay. The crumbs that fell from this man’s table ….. God’s gift to us all….. no other explanation.
A bunch of my things here are outtakes and alternate takes. Most were worthy of release, or perhaps further consideration. Mercury had them on the 2000 Mercury box set that contained everything. Later they did one on the Smash stuff. So between both box sets we have all he did on Mercury and it's subsidiary, Smash.
