I really appreciate you doing this. I've been trying to figure this song out. I agree with the others that on your previous video it is really hard to tell what kind of chords you were playing due to the angle. The angle on this one's a little better.

I'm using my Helix LT through the line six power cab. I'm using a fender deluxe amp cab model with the drive on about 1. In front of the amp on the chain I have a dynamic hall reverb, and a digital delay set at 400 ms, 3 to 4 repeats, at about 30% mix. That's it.

I know another Floyd Tribute guitarist name Ryan for a second I got all "small worldy". Great Job on this, like you said in another comment this song and alternate tunings generally aren't my normal fare, blues, floyd and jam music is more my speed,so your vid is helping me break it down. I have a horrible musical ear in general, so as soon as you take me to an open tuning I lose all my audible reference points i found over the years if the makes any sense. having real trouble with the higher strings as the bass note is easy enough to follow.

@@Music-AsLife That's awesome. I have fun doing it. We only play about six shows a year but they're all huge productions in sold out theaters with lasers and lights and movies. We play musikfest in Bethlehem Pennsylvania every year which is the largest music festival in East Coast. It presents some awesome fun show opportunities and I love it. I've been able to dial in his tone through my Helix really well.

I've got an ugly mug and I always thought it would be better just to keep my face out of the videos lol. Plus a slightly better closer shot at my neck? Is my opinion wrong here? Lol

I posted a long comment, but YT keeps auto-deleting it every time I post it. I'm confused because it was completely inoffensive. Weird. Anyway, I'm almost 100% certain that he uses the CGCGCE tuning, not the CGCEGC tuning like you show in this video. Your version sounds great, don't get me wrong, but it is overly-complicated compared to how SWJ does it in his live videos. Just my two cents! Play on my friend! :)

@@BrentRasmussenMusic All good my friend as we should all have great conversation here. I am in no way an expert on Stephen Wilson Jr and these open tunings. I'm a metalhead that has been the Gilmour in a Pink Floyd tribute for about 13 years and this style is definitely foreign for me. I'm enjoying stepping out of my comfort zone by learning these songs and his style. I gave your suggested tuning a shot and I have to disagree. In that tuning there's no way to physically pull off the individual notes that he's playing and in the chord shapes he's hitting on the video. I watched about four live videos of his and dissected his hand positioning in the individual string he's using to do what and definitely notice a consistency about the way he hits his chords in all his songs. If the standard tuned g-string is not tuned to an E then you can't hit that main accent note he uses for almost every song within the same fret. If the standard tuned g-string stays a G then you can't play all his other tunes either. I've learned three of them and they're all in the same tuning so far. In all three songs he definitely hits a 550500 on just about every song he does. That 5 on the standard tuned g-string which is tuned to an E gives you that note that he uses consistently. In the up close live video you can see he's grabbing the g-string with his pinky and it's a consistent thing throughout his music. You could put definitely pull the song off in your suggested tuning but it'd be a different style. I did try as hard as I could to dissect every position he holds his hand in and then try to recreate what I'm hearing. But I'm going to have to say I think I'm right lol . I hope you find success in playing the song watched a couple of your tunes and you're really good player man.

@@ryanguitargodfrey Awesome explanation! I'll go through the videos again. Sometimes I wish someone would just ask him what tuning he's using and so we wouldn't have to puzzle it out through watching his videos! LOL!
