Remember seeing reviews in old SKATEBOARDER OR EARLY THRASHER SO I BOUGHT IT IN 1983, PARENTS FREAKEDED OUT ASKING ME IF I KNEW WHAT CHINA WHITE IS? I SAID YEAH COOL PUNK BAND MAN.
I assume you know, but for anyone stumbling across this that doesn't, it was heroin that could be snorted like coke, as opposed to the brown stuff, which had to be smoked if you couldn't stomach injecting it. Which is exactly what I would have told my parents had they asked, along with pointing out that it didn't mean I was going to go buy any. I'm capable of various sorts of stupidity, but there are limits...
@@BMXunion1 You're familiar with the old ST song "Institutionalized"? Half the people I knew had some variation on a conversation like that with the Parental Units. It really had nothing to recommend it.
Agreed man. They went from the brash sound that's just a fantastic sound in itself and changed for what they felt was more them. Long live the middle class.
I swear Live In Your Eyes is hands down the SICKEST SONG EVER! I can see how so many bands in punk and metal were influenced by that song alone, not to mention the rest of the record. And the vocals fit perfectly to make it so that its not specifically one kind of genre or style. It has so many influences you hear in the songs that really rounds out their sound to not just be another lame punk clone.
I will always love this album. I got to see their reunion a few years back at the Observatory. Also saw the Flyboys at the Frontier reunion show. Good times 🤘
So the title song Danger zone. The guitar solo 3/4 of the way thru is fuckin blistering , so badass , makes me want to skank right into a crowd of BeeGee's fans.
such a unique hardcore sound from all the other so-cal bands at the time, they actually had a slower more breakdowny type of hardcore sound like nyhc except im pretty sure nyhc didn't even have that sound yet (minus bad brains) by the time of this band, agnostic front didn't really start till about 82-83 and China white was as early as 80.
NY scene really disappointed me, it went downhill really quick but not as quick as the LA scene, in fact I think the last punk scene in the US was the Midwest.
@@Soundeagle3456 Punk scenes never die, they just come in waves. Tons of new bands pop up all the time. Tins of kids going to their first show. It never stops.

A lot of these lyrics are similar to Alice Cooper’s lyrics from The Ballad of Dwight Fry. It’s “I’m in the intensive care, I’m lying on the floor.” “I made lots of friends, you know I need the rest- but sleeping don’t come easy in a straight white vest.” “I’m anti social, I’m anti living.” “I shoot the bull with someone knew if I had the chance.” Just small corrections. How do I know this? Some of the lyrics are in the Addiction 1 album AND I’ve been listening to this album religiously since I was in middle school. I’m 19 now.
Also, I think it’s “all alone in the dangerzone”. But it very well could be "all along." I'm just a weird nerd about this band tbh lol. I’m working on learning Dangerzone on the guitar to cover it since it’s been one of my favorites since I was a teenager.
Thing is, you know at this time when they recorded this that they had more songs. They would have had to to be able to play a live set. Shoulda recorded everything just in case someone left the band after this and they never sounded the same again. Oh yeah, that happened. lol
Out of all of the early OC/LA bands, CW had the most unique sound. Frank Raffino (r.i.p.) was, along with Frank Agnew from the Adolescents, a total shredder. Those rad bottom e string drones,as well as those tasty embellishments were devastating. CW were the first crossover punk/metal band. Were the band junkies? There’s so little known about these guys.
Probably pretty safe to assume they were. I think I read somewhere that the singer died of an OD, so thats why there isnt much from them I guess. And you're probably into it if you name you're band after really good dope, although now its mostly fentanyl.
Devo dire che un gruppo del genere mi ha dato la possibilità di staccare il ghiaccio dal mini frigo bar....se non fosse per l` adrenanila che mi trasmette e i testi che traduco facilmente, sarei un coglione dei tanti......(A)

These dudes and the middle class are some really good hidden gems.
Middle Class are completely underrated. They were a step ahead of everyone with their style and how they transitioned it in a short period of time.
Agreed man. They went from the brash sound that's just a fantastic sound in itself and changed for what they felt was more them. Long live the middle class.

Out of vogue was amazing, and homeland is very tight sounding, both ahead of their time. RIP Mike Atta
