I would rinse off the soapy water after scrubbing. And I always dry chains like that in front of a fan so they get thoroughly dry. If they dry slowly, sometimes the verdigris comes right back.

I dry my jewelry in front of fans immediately too. That tip about the spray oil is a good one.
Soap and water is great for your average dirt. I always use penetrating oil to clean verdigris. Oil doesn't hurt the gems, and protects the metal. It is found in the automotive department. It usually comes in a spray can, so you can spray a piece and leave it to soak overnight, then wipe off the verdigris. I use q-tips to get into the tiny spaces. There are pointed q-tips for sale as well that are convenient for tiny spaces. A soft bristle tooth brush is great too.

I had the very same ultra sonic cleaning machine. It quit working, as in quit vibrating, after 6 months of use. I believe it has a 1 year warranty, so I have to send it in to the manufacturer. It is past the return date for Amazon, where I bought it.
I just cleaned verdigris from a similar gold tone Trifari chain yesterday, using ketchup and a LOT of scrubbing, while wondering if I should invest in an ultrasonic cleaner. Thank you for the demo!! Something I found very helpful for removing the verdigris from the tight areas of the chain was a few cotton tipped microblading swabs.

Amazon, cotton tipped microblading swabs. I bought 500 for $5.19. They are bigger than a toothpick, smaller than a cotton swabs.

In my experience, ultrasonic can loosen in-set stones. I would not use if they do not have prongs.
Avon actually sells jewelry that is sterling silver. Ive bought some in the past but I can’t remember how it’s marked like if it’s 925 ect or not

Great video since I have no experience with the ultrasonic cleaner. I do wonder how it would work for a vintage necklace on thread. I found out you can not soak or get too wet because the thread breaks. I was surprised how much water was used. I thought just a few tablespoons, so again thank you. I have learned so much from you in general, and I am 71 years old and have been working with jewelry for over 20 years. Your time management skills impress me too. I remember having energy. LOL
