She's absolutely right. Perspective is important. I wish more actors were honest about how they have to give one to the big studios to get a chance to make the smaller films. And for some of us movie watchers, we actually enjoy the big studio films more than the small arthouse films. And for those who feel the opposite, well you've gotta support one type in order to finance the other.
Directors do the same. Nolan had to do a Batman Trilogy to get his other projects greenlighted.
It's okay for actors to do bigger films to help their small films, but it's just unfortunate in this case that her bigger film was god awful. It honestly blows my mind sometimes how big studios can make such awful trash, considering they have WAY MORE money and resources than most others.

This is a Green Lantern situation. That movie was an absolute disaster, and everyone who made it says so, but it did have some great things come out of it. Studios used that movie as a guide of what NOT to do when making a superhero movie, and most importantly Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds met on that movie and are now married with kids?
I mean idk about a building block on not what to do cause there are still terrible superhero's being made, arguably worse than GL
I'm one of the rare few that actually liked GL. I wanted to see what they do with Sinestro.

...and to think all of this could've been avoided if the mother of Dakota Johnson's character wasn't in the Amazon when she was researching spiders right before she died.

She really handled very nicely.
I really enjoyed Madam Web. I haven't laughed that much and that consistently in the theatre for a long time. I mean, I'm not laughing at what the producers probably wanted me laughing at, but entertainment is entertainment, and I had a blast watching it. Reminded me of "In The Name Of The King" which is still, to this day, one of the best comedies around.
Sydney has a very similar energy to Aubrey Plaza. 😁 Low-key charisma.

I thought Madame Webb was a good movie. It was not fantastic or great, but it was good. It gets dumped on way too much.

She did what she had to do and got the best out of it. I actually started to know her better right after Madame Web came out. With that and SNL she definitely did the right moves to avoid any step back in her career. Now she's better than ever before👏
I usually really like him as an interviewer but I definitely think he put her on the spot with this one
I know hahahaha asking "what did you learn from the experience?" IMPLIES that it was bad and you should be looking for the "silver lining" /answer with "well AT LEAST I ____" ... it's inherently shady.

Agreed. An also like Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Who she could totally play in live action btw. Both in fact though Gadget would be more weird. An I don't mean what I am saying as an insult. It's just the truth. She does look like both those characters.

I’m not fully sure what she means by “putting the package together” but she mentioned pitching Anyone But You. I had no idea she was a producer on that film, Immaculate made sense because it’s a small indie. But good for her, that movie made over $200 million. I’m sure she got a handsome payoff & proved herself to be a bankable star
A good fisherman, or in this case woman, does not cast one line into the water, you cast several and see which ones catch a bite. She's a smart business woman!

I think ever since Pattinson, Dakota and Stewart were so successfully able to use Twilight and 50 shades as springboards into strong careers, people understand better now that it's a smart career move for a young actor/actress to sometimes accept cash grab roles, just as long as they don't do it latter down the line. Which just gives Dakota no excuse for Madam Webb. She should have known better, which is why she fired her agent after watching the trailer.
However I also think it's perfectly reasonable for actors to take jobs for the money, just like any other profession. They shouldn't be expected to love every project they work on. Or be forced to sing its praises in public.
^ I can't remember exactly in what video she said it (maybe.. GQ? Vanity Fair? Hot Ones?), but Mila Kunis is another example about honesty with the topic of money
Didn't mind Madame Web. Much better than The Marvels, which may not be saying much, but at least I got thur the whole Madame Web movie without throwing up.

As a stand a lone movie it was cool! But I understand that it was nothing like the source material and that's why people didn't like it.

But he is behind BORDERLANDS though
You have to keep in mind this is her job & her hard work & sacrifice.
She truly doesn't feel the barbs about her project is funny. As an artist it's her baby, her child
I can gurantee she doesnt actually care about this baby
And it's not hard work.
And the pay is phenomenal, considering that she didn't go to med school and is not a pediatric surgeon.

It was not that bad. Agreed. The villain ADR stuff was insane, but honestly more interesting than most movies. Not better, but more interesting.
I enjoyed Madame Web! actually she had the dullest character in Madame Web. How many of you saw actually saw Anyone but You?

As she said it was a major breakthrough and opportunity for her. No sane up and coming actor would turn that down. The Spiderman movies have been pretty decent lately as well, so it's not like it was obvious from the start that it would be a disaster.

She "explains"/"justifies" herself WAY too much for my taste. It just sounds like excuses. If you're *actually* confident in your decisions, just stand by them. If you can't be humble enough to do that once the movie comes out regardless of what "people say," just don't sign on to act in it in the first place. Others would feel *LUCKY.*
Respect the strategy and the tactics in someways but her choices and the way she presents especially in her roles is a problem as she is justifying acting like stereotypes and such stereotypes are normal and as such justified. She need to start being a better industry role model look I get starting is tough no choices but once your secure you have to be responsible and play smart to justify staying in without karma stepping in or get out once your secure financial because if your smart and with money often given it’s possible and can be done quickly
She handled it well. Madame Web is one of the worst movies ever made. She needs to just accept it and laugh it off. Hopefully ppl will forget abt jit eventually.
Life is full of good and bad experiences. Sometimes you're gonna fail, or your project is gonna fail. It's ok. No one's blaming the 3 Spider-girl actors for Madame Web not working.

it was a paycheck , that's how it helped her . let's not be naive, none of these actors signing up for comic book movies see it as anything but a paycheck. these aren't prestige pieces, these aren't nuanced roles.
the only ones that came close was Nolan's Batman, and even then only 2 out of 3 fit that description
