AMT P-40K Review - Better than the Hasegawa P-40K?

- In this classic model kit review, I am looking at AMT's 1/48 Curtis P-40K (kit no. 8794). We'll be looking at the finished kit, the instructions, the surface detailing, the transparencies, the decals, potential problem areas to watch out for, and finally, I'll be giving my conclusions. This classic kit has been around for years. With the newer Hasegawa P-40K now available, is it still worth building? Let's find out together!

Right on! If you can turn out an old kit well, the new kits will make you look like a pro.
I built an old AMT P36 recently, can confirm the clear parts are substandard.
Thanks Paul! I recently looked at the AMT P-36 in the box but didn't pick it up because of the clear parts. As you stated, they were substandard. The P-40 clear parts are better (than the P-36) if the kits were produced in the US. Cheers
OMG Jon, you are I must have 99% the same model collection! LoL I am in the middle of this P-40K build myself. Had a little trouble fitting rear fuselage/tail onto the main fuselage but it all worked out with a little putty and sanding.
Right on! The tail insert can be tricky.

I wonder if Polar lights owns the mold to this. They should re tool it as it seems to be a pretty nice kit. Great review!

Amt gave a few pleasant surprises before going switching to car kits exclusively & amtech was able to rebox some of the P40s with minor improvements!🤔

My AMT Ju-88 must be made in Mexico. Clear parts aren't clear at all.

@@jonsmodelkitreview4624 yeah, it's not a good kit by any stretch of the imagination. I used a lot of AM and spare Dragon parts, but the slog was so bad I had to put it on hold.
