Poland invading the Czech Republic is probably one of the worst mistakes since someone making a UA-cam channel where the only theme is "kinda interesting stuff." I mean, that makes it pretty impossible to decide on topics. What kind of idiot would think that was a good idea?
Unrelated, but Half as Interesting solicits viewer suggestions for our topics. We reward any topic suggestion that we use with a measly t-shirt. It costs us a few bucks to make, we sell it for $20, it's really a terrible deal, but people fall for it anyways. @@zaerikk Noone'd thought that Czechs have 2 sacral buildings in one village, that is how it happened
One has to wonder if any Czechs there had 1968 flashbacks (when the Soviet Union and most of the Warsaw Pact mass invaded them and did regime change).
The oldest mention of this village is from 1317. Before 1742, the whole village belonged to the Silesian Duchy of Krnov. In 1742, as part of the Wars of the Austrian Succession, the Habsburg dynasty lost most of Silesia. Since 1742, the village was divided into two parts: the Silesian belonged to Prussia and the Moravian to Austria. However, the border here was very complicated, there were several small enclaves and exclaves. After World War II, the original German population was displaced from both sides of the border. And the border was also simplified so that it ran along the axis of the stream.
First, since 1946 the village was settled by new residents from Slovakia and Volhynian Czechs. Subsequently, in 1948, the communist leadership decided to establish a 300m border zone, and the village on the Czechoslovak side was displaced and demolished in 1949-1950. Only the church, the chapel and the two houses (now with numbers 113 a 114) remained. In August 1951, the municipality was formally abolished and joined to the municipality of Slezské Rudoltice. In the late 1950s, some small corrections of the state border were made.
this is why I love Europe. countries just casually be like "oh sorry I accidentally invaded you"
Seems they need to demarcate there borders better. More signs are needed. And a small cyclone fence would be nice.
@@ab9840 NO! That's the entire beauty of the EU. I can go to the mountains and just casually start climbing in one country, just to reach a peak in a neighboring one. It's like fencing individual US states!
@@wojciechmuras553 - One thing is for sure, you cannot do that on border of the island of Hispaniola which is shared by two nations. Look what happened nine years ago. Those on the far side started throwing rocks over the fence which cuts the international bridge in half. So the border troops moved back across there half of the bridge. In response to the rock throwing, local civilians started throwing rocks back and agitating the troops to attack and retake there half of the bridge. This is what happened - ua-cam.com/video/LQROPOm657Q/v-deo.html&has_verified=1

Learn the history of the region. Poland had dispute about small territory with natural resources . Its begin few years earlier when Czehs armedly took part of the Polish territory when entire Polish army fought with the Bolsheviks. These areas were inhabited mainly by Poles. It was not an accident Poland took territories inhabited by Poles or the Germans would take all of them. Poles tried diplomatic efforts with both Germany and the Czech Republic and they don't have much in common with Hitler's imperial plans because it wasnt in Poland's interests too strong imperial germany.

It happens sometimes that swiss soldiers going from the west to the south through Italy (Domodosola) and forget to remove their uniform on the train, which is considered an invasion too
well that's known scheduled visit so not really...
@@PrograError It's not necessary scheduled as soldiers just hop on the train from their home whenever they have to go through repetition courses in southern Switzerland, but I might be wrong.
According to the law, wearing the uniform in foreign territory is prohibited, with the exception of people filling an authorization form in both countries. I think soldiers just don't want to bother with papers and remove the uniform, but technically you _could_ do it www.vtg.admin.ch/de/aktuell/themen/internationale-beziehungen/militaerprotokoll/bewilligungen.html

I read a reddit post once about how the Swiss accidentally took a training exercise one km across the French border. They were stopped by the Gendarmerie who were like um...wtf and when they finally sorted it out, the Gendarmes escorted them back to the border, roasting them the whole time and they took it on the chin. They sent the French a bottle of whiskey as am apology.
same happened to my father during his wehrdienst at the deutschland-österreich border.
they got lost during an exercise and ended up walking back along the street. did also get roasted at the checkpoint, but apparently it happened often enough not to be made a big deal.

It was a mistake.Poland and Czech are both in Schengen zone for many years.Border marks are hard to find on the ground.
The border line is complicated, and you can cross the border dozens of times over a distance of several hundred meters without knowing it.Normally, in such a situation, a border guard is in command of a military patrol.
This time only military personnel were on patrol. They crossed the border by 40 meters.
Everyone knew it was a mistake. In Europe, the border can even be in the middle of the street. You go to work on the Polish side of the road and you come back home after work on the Czech side of the road.Typically and normal situation.

@@jarousek2999 Paweł Michałkowicz is right. In 1919 Czechoslovakia unexpectedly invaded Poland and bestially murdered several Polish soldiers in Cieszyn. In the summer of 1920 when Poland was fighting against soviet invasion, when one million men of Red Army was inside Poland at the gate of Warsaw and even on west side of Wisła river, as Germany helped Red Army to cross the river near Grudziądz and closed Baltic ports for aid to Poland, Czechoslovakia closed its borders for any foreign help to Poland. In particular Czechoslovakia effectively closed its borders for Hungarian regiments ready to come for relief to Poland. This was a classic STAB IN the BACK to a neighbour fighting for survival. By saying that I am not trying to justify 1938 takeover of Zaolzie by Poland, which needs a separate analysis.

I would very much like to hear about this Tuesday Solution, as it sounds interesting, and I'm board.
It works like this: Israel is in charge of the whole place Wednesday-Friday-Sunday, and Palestine gets to run things on Thursday-Saturday-Monday. They alternate on Tuesdays. Works pretty well because it's hard for either side to orchestrate a genocide when they have to plan for every other day.
