A rare kinescope for this series. I wonder how many live broadcasts they did?

It was originally a live series on ABC- and NBC- during its first four seasons. Then, producers Bernard Prockter and Everett Rosenthal filmed the final season in Hollywood when it returned to ABC {under Chevrolet's sponsorship} in the fall of 1954. 39 episodes were produced, and later syndicated under the title "FEDERAL MEN".

It's good there are kinescopes of these early television broadcasts. There might've been far fewer if the video transmissions could've been carried cross country by coaxial cable.

Kinescopes1 were used to make records of live television programs before videotape recording was practical. They were in common use in the late 1940s, and were replaced in the 1950s by videotape.
I had to Google kinescope to understand you.
      I'm not mad at that.

Let me interject some dates here. 16mm Kinescopes were indeed used in the late 40's into the 70's. I've had some kinescopes from the 1970's. The issue with 16mm kinescopes is they were used for time shifts when sent to network tv stations. However, they were immediately returned to the network and recycled for silver content. So most live programming was not retained or archived by the networks. A large portion of early kinescopes from NBC, CBS, and ABC are lost because of the recycling program.
