    "The end comes no matter what, the only thing that matter is how do you want to go out. On your feet or on your knees." One of life's truest lessons.

    i was fired from a job, set up to take the fall for a higher up. they lured me into a meeting where they all proceeded to inform me of my misconduct. at first i thought i must be dreaming, that it wasn't really happening. this only happened in movies. i was caught off guard, i didn't see it coming. instead of reacting with anger and surprise i remained stonefaced. those who i thought were allies couldn't look me in the eye. sometimes the only real difference between a friend and an enemy is the day of the week. i could have easily defended myself but, i knew that nothing i could do or say at that moment would change what was happening to me. i let them finish, went to my office and collected my family photographs. all without saying a word and totally expressionless. left everything else behind. dropped my keys with the receptionist on the way out. it's been a few years now and all i have to say about this former employer is, not all karma is good karma. i've moved on and till today i'm damn proud of the way i handled that. didn't sue anyone, didn't utter a derogatory word. i figure that's what the FBI director is talking about when he's says it's your choice on how you want to go out.

    Wow, this might be one of the most intelligent smackdowns in cinema history. The scriptwriter wrote some great lines and Richard Jenkins delivers perfectly. When someone tries to threaten you, the reply that "I learned to not fear anything, even death", leaves the attorney general in this scene completely powerless.

  • @JNS1975ZA
    @JNS1975ZA 3 роки тому +22

    The script writer needs credit for this. My favorite line in a movie because you can use this in your own personal life. I do in my professional career. When you know your job is finite no matter what, it liberates you to do better and removes a certain amount of stress to make the right decision. You also retain your integrity.

    The best part is the cut to the attorney general’s face as soon as the FBI director mentioned Westmorland, their obituaries, and Tet-like, “Oh yeah; this guy’s a vet of the Vietnam War during some of its nastiest stretches. He’s not afraid of me, let alone any of this political horseshit.”

      Same here. I've signed my last will and testament 5 times and nearly cashed it out about 50 times. I deployed to Iraq 3 times (and an infantryman, not a clerk or some other "safe" job), where I was surrounded by thousands of people who wanted me dead. They damn near succeeded a few times. That being said, there isn't much that can scare me anymore.
      I got into some trouble and had to do some jail time once. There was a vehicle that cruised the perimeter of the facility, and we were warned that they guard(s) in it had guns. That made me laugh. One of the guards asked me what I thought was so funny. I told him this was not (by far) the first time I'd been around men with guns, or would have had guns pointed at me.

The anology was supposed to reflect a person's nature as opposed to that person's will. Do you spend your life following the leader and being part of the pack or do you grow a set of balls and spine, give the world a big fuck you and go out to meet your boat rather than wait for it to come in!!!!! You say sheep are happier, maybe because they know no other life other than being at the bottom of nature's pecking order!!!!!

Disciplinary action does not frighten me. Jail does not frighten me. Cops don't scare me (A fact that pisses them off sometimes. Being ex-military, I see them as comrades-in-arms. I dont get one sentence in the FBI chiefs speech: When he says "just seven months before the mid term elections", is he reffering to the president not wanting to lose voters seven months before the elections? Or does the seven months in any way reffer to him sending FBI agents too Saudi Arabia and if yes what does it mean?

    • @Col.J.N.W.SinghKhandala
      @Col.J.N.W.SinghKhandala Рік тому

      That is where the movie's history lies. So, here goes:-
      The fact that there has been a terror attack inside the SAUDI-ARAMCO employees' compound has been hidden from the American public.
      And if such an attack warrants an investigation team's presence on ground in Saudi Arabia immediately (for not risking losing critical evidence), it is imperative from three perspectives - from the point of view of upholding the morale of the nation's premier homeland security agency's officers plus telling the Saudis that there is an enemy in their midst who is actively attempting to derail the USA-Saudi Arabia bilateral political, trade and military strategic relations and thirdly, to show the American might to the Saudis that attacking Americans (no matter where they are located in the world) is an unacceptable, impossible, unpardonable and intolerable infraction.
      And if the public isn't in the know of the internal goings-on, it surely shall doubt the dismissal from service of the Director of FBI the reasons for which shall be officially stated as merely sending boots on ground in Saudi Arabia. But what was that originally for is hidden from the general public???
      Therefore, the POTUS is in a moral and ethical dilemma whether to spill the beans or not. Hence, in order to avoid a face off with the agency that is personally responsible for the POTUS' safety, the President shall be certainly worried about initiating any adverse action against the FBI.
      However, the Attorney General has precisely avoided such a potentiality and has circumvented the POTUS and has approached the Senate Committee on Terror who shall further ensure that the POTUS is furnished a very different view of the situation that has already transpired on Saudi soil and shall make every possible attempt to save their skin by trying to adopt a less martial stance in front of the Saudis hoping to avoid a diplomatic quagmire which will surely affect the USA's oil purchasearms deal barter with Saudi Arabia without according much thought to the grievous loss of actual American citizens on foreign soil in a supposedly friendly 'ally' nation.
      I hope the aforementioned satisfactorily answers your question. Cheers!
