ItzBecky Thomas yea that is true but sorry to tell you santa isn’t real because theres a video by “smarter everyday” where they explain how all the super slow sound effects on the slow mo guys channel is added in after because the camera doesn’t have a microphone
My youngest sister had her eye scratched when she was really little (like 5 years old or so). It was a long, jagged, diagonal scratch across her cornea (the clear lens on your eye). We took her to our eye doctor (he's incredibly good) and he took a close-up picture of the scratched eye. Then he prescribed a special antibiotic lotion that we had to put in her eye (it was specifically an eye lotion). After a week, we took her back in to get her checked out. He took another close-up picture of her eye. I was able to see the before and after pictures, was able to see that the scratch had healed completely, and had a brief conversation about why the scratch was dangerous: it can get infected. Jagged wounds in the cornea can allow bacteria to take hold and start to eat at the rest of the lens, which is why it was important to use the special antibiotic lotion. The lotion itself also lubricated her cornea to prevent the wound from being torn open further by the action of her blinking eyelid. The reason I'm even sharing this story is because it was the last time I saw an eye up close and magnified.

Your eyes accomodate for you heard turning and will try to keep focus on what you are looking at. Well THAT is because the eye is made of soft tissue. Optical image stabilization is the eyes remaining stationary as the head turns, or in birds, keeping the head stable as their body moves (because they can't move their eyes).
Actually, the lens in your eye works with your brain so that it cancels out motion and make a stable image on the retina. That's the reason why your vision is stabilized.
Yeah, it would be cool to use proper equipment rather than this weak camera, I mean, using a high speed lamp in a "slit lamp" which is what we optometrists use, and ophthalmologists too, and for me it's a standard in ocular health

Not so fun fact, there's a medical condition, when you're developing in the womb, if the blood vessels in your eye don't come away from the vitreous humerus like they're supposed to as your eyes are developing, it can result in scarring the vitreous humerus, making it hazy, which becomes a type of blindness. The condition is called Persistent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous (PHPV). I have this condition in my left eye, and because of it, I am slowly going blind in my right eye as well (myopia). Co-ocurring conditions include glaucoma (which can result in brain damage as well), myopia, cataracts and total blindness. I'm one of the lucky ones because worst case scenario is I'll be completely blind by 30 which is in 11 years.

6:50 that's "Optical Image Stabilisation" made by mother nature 😀👀👍 ( more like "Optical Vision Stabilisation" )
Haha...:)
Well THAT is because the eye is made of soft tissue. Optical image stabilization is the eyes remaining stationary as the head turns, or in birds, keeping the head stable as their body moves (because they can't move their eyes).
@@fabiofdez yah... specially that owl video 😂
@@hellohumans175 If it was designed by him, it was designed very poorly.
Actually, the lens in your eye works with your brain so that it cancels out motion and make a stable image on the retina. That's the reason why your vision is stabilized.

Would it be possible to film the red eye effect you get in photography in slo mo since it is caused by a reflection of the back of your iris
That would be the speed of light I think. No, right? Someone tell me I'm wrong?

@rallion1 ahh gotcha, that makes sense.

Doctors would probably not recommend shining that bright light straight into one's eyes, but this is gave and dan we are talking about...
Actually many lights that are used by Dr's are brighter than this light... It is the UVA and UVB rays that can cause damage not just straight light...
@@jessicablackwood7606 So how would you know if it was damaging or not? asking because I did this accidentally recently with my phone's flash
You'd need light on the scale of the sun to do damage, luckily this LED isn't close to that :D
But you are correct, you need to be carefull with your eyes. They are very sensitive and are known for poor healing after a certain amount of damage. Plus you need both of them

Yes I used to do this in the mirror with a flashlight when I was a kid!!!

ikr!
You can do it by getting in front of a window and turning the room light on, then close one eye and use one hand to make a tunnel from your eye to the mirror so no light enters and see your iris get big, then remove your hand and see it get small
I too remember using my time slowing powers to see my own reflection being slower than me!
@@Pelumo64 its not like that, just try it and you will see

@@scholasticcoc3888 And I just used my eyes to see your comment about using your eyes to read a comment about someone using their eyes to see a video containing a slow Mo shot of an eye. Wow.
I think why the iris is so jiggly is because it acts as optical image stabilization. That's why when your walking around your vision isn't all shaky.

OH I GET IT ITS BECAUSE YOURE ASIAN
Your eye IS actually filled with a jelly called vitreous humor
Humerus
Yes, but that is the volume behind the lens and the back of the eyeball. The iris is suspended in the aqueous humor.
@@DrPebis That's the bone in the upper arm. You can always claim it was just an attempt at being humorous.
John Spraggs i really need your smarts, please
