It hasn't been 40 years. 40th year will be 2028. Mattel did the same thing with He-Man and the MOTU. Where at the time, their toyline was only 39 years old. Yet they had a 40th year series. The paint looks cleaner than 1988's version. I also like the metal weapon Donatello has. When I was growing up in the 80's and 90's, I didn't like that the weapons were all wood looking. The only one that I didn't mind, was Donatello. That's bc Donatello's Bo staff is wood.
The remastered line sold so well Playmates is adding Shredder and Rocksteady to it. My only, very minor, gripe with the remastered turtles is that they head swapped Leonardo and Donatello; Donnie always had the full grin while Leo had the side smirk.
I need an umbrella for all that shade thrown at Donatello’s brothers. 😜 Be careful with those aggressive weapons! 🤣 All jokes aside, gratz on scoring Donatello! 🤟🏽

Honestly, I prefer these Remasters over the original 1988 designs. I always had an issue with the posing of the original 1988 Turtles (the feet specifically). Other than the skin texture and them ONLY being a Wal-Mart exclusive, these Remasters are top knotch! Recently copped all 4 not too long ago.
Haha, honestly the OG 1988 figures and the TMNT Super 7 Ultimates figures are more apples/oranges IMO. Don't get me wrong, the OG 1988 figures while iconic, had major issues with leg posing, weapon brittleness, joint brittleness (break one of the legs and your figure is useless), & paint chipping. Then again, they're a product of the 1980's lol. The Remastered figures fixes all of these issues. Remastered figures have issues too, but the quality of life changes while paying respect to the originals gives them an edge!

Only because of the topic of TMNT. I recently discovered, the Nickelodeon version of NECA figures. Holy cow. 17.5 inches tall. Idk how many points of articulation because I only looked at them briefly in stores. I only looked to be able to compare my own 1990s Raphael to. But they’re better looking. Aside from Raphael not having on a duster haha.

Funny... The only figure I saw left at my Walmart was this 1 Donatello 😝 I'll eventually find a Remastered Raph. Although, I still think they're sort of a budget version of the Super7 Ultimate series 😅 At least, I got the 40th anniversary concept art figure of Raph from Target. I like the fact that his accessories consist of 1 katana & scabbard; it's sort of mocking Leo that he has a sword too 😆
The reggie 40th anniversary ones are only $10 though. I like the classic packaging of the $10 ones. I noticed they started putting 40th anniversary stickers on the plastic though. I remember my mom buying them for $3.99 when I was a kid.
Did you know they also reissued the 1989 Pizza Thrower? You'll find THAT at Target. I still got mine, so I'll sit this one out. Plus, I'm not too crazy about reissues. It's nice, the only difference is it takes 3 AAA batteries ,whereas the original one takes 2 C batteries.
they are great. I havent collected turtles since 2012 series, but this got me back in due to them looking like the ogs. I cant locate a Raph anywhere though, he is the only one Im missing😪

You mean suits that constantly break and deteriorate? CGI is the only way to go for a good result. They just should avoid screwing up the design like they did with the Bay Turtles.

That thing isn't better than the Donotelo i got as a 10 year old boy in 1988 smh. He was my favorite as a kid, now its Raphael....he is cool but hes not better lol😂 hes not.
Yeah , I don’t know if I don’t like life, but I definitely don’t like this figure. Or at least it has 3 glaring issues for me. 1) The swivel feet. Why would they not do ankle articulation? Even a very simple up and down moving foot like they did with the ‘Wacky action Sewer Swimmin’ Donatello’ offers better stability to the figure; 2) The weapons they just use from another set, which is why the purple doesn’t match. It even looks to me like the staff is too long (probably not what she said) for the figure, and the plastic seems much more shiny. And 3) The skin texture. It is so overdone, or rather poorly done. With digital sculpting nowadays there’s so much they could’ve tried like little bumps on the skin, or an actual scale texture, but they chose the least creative and frankly lazy solution here: just poke holes all over the skin. And the result is he looks like he has cellulite all over his body. And it’s probably the most intrusive on Donnie due to his dark skin, Raphael probably suffers the least from the texture. Such a shame they didn’t put more thought into what is arguably the biggest visual feature of this line. I also heard people complain about him having the wrong head, or his skin being more brown than the original olive green, but those to me aren’t big issues tbh. And I’m also aware this is Playmates, who are still more of a toy company than a company known for adult collectables, so the quality will be undoubtably less. BUT as they seem to also want to appeal to the adult collector market with this set as well as others from the past, they need to step up their game, especially when they have Neca, Super 7 and the like as their competition. Maybe Playmates should split up their TMNT line into 2 separate lines, one aimed at children, and one aimed at the collector market? That way they could keep the toyline on the cheaper side and charge more for higher standard figures. After all it’s to maintain a lower price point that they cut back on sculpting, paint etc…

These cost $13 @ Wal-Mart and they got 13 points of articulation. So basically, you're paying a dollar for each articulation point.

The weapons are from another earlier set based on the cartoon from a few years ago. Which is also why the staff seems a little too long.
