An important detail that went unmentioned here is, while jail will typically be less comfortable, it also means you likely won’t have to deal with as many perpetrators of worse crimes. Safer people to live around

    • @Fury.Bowser1
      @Fury.Bowser1 5 днів тому +236

Not true in most states. Jails usually don't have separation for people based on the type of charge they have. They usually house inmates together regardless of severity of crime, so a petty thief may end up in the same cell/pod as someone that unalived someone. This is typically true of smaller, county jails.
In prison, there are security levels that determine which prisons an inmate goes. Severe crimes are ranked higher, and usually house inmates of similar crimes together, while low level prisons house less severe crimes.

It depends on the area. When they built the new jail on Orient rd in Tampa, it was called the Orient Hilton because it had so many amenities. Every pod had it's own basketball court with a weight rack. Several TV's. Coffee avaliable almost all day, and at most 1 other roommate. Before that though, the local jail was from the early 60's and looked like it was from the 30's.
I've never been to prison but I've visited and know people that were. Not counting the maximum security prisons, juvie hall was worse then prison or jail. I was in a fight near every other day there.

In some non US countries jails also give you hall passes called Temporary Absence Passes, sometimes for weekends and sometimes during the day and sometimes it's house arrest but you need to check in every once in a while depending on your agreement, depending on the jurisdiction. Not everyone needs to spend all day in a prison and it saves those countries without for profit prisons a lot of money only having to house an inmate during the night, during the weekend or not at all sometimes.
These are also only for minor crimes, don't expect a hallpass if you're a murderer or something

Always depends on many factors. In a big busy county prison might be better than jail bc so many guys coming through on bail and short time means lots of tempers and variables whereas prison would be a tad more stable though with serious choices to be made that have long term repercussions.
A smaller county, the jail might be better if it’s a low crime county and that’s better than prison which are run by the state.

Depending on why you are in jail you can get a work release. Had plenty of people who did this at my last job. I just had to sign off on their hours down to the minute they arrived and left. Most of them were dropped off and picked up by the sheriff but I did have 1 that was able to drive himself to and from. Needles to say they always volunteered for as much OT as they could. I also had a friend that was allowed to serve his jail sentence on weekends. He had like 4 days to serve so he just went in 2 weekends in a row to serve his time.

Prison food is usually better than jail food. Plus in prison you share a room and a toilet with a bunkee. In jail you might share a large room and a row of toilets with 50 people. Sometimes there's not enough beds and you sleep on a mat on the floor.

As a retired CO. The biggest difference I’ve been told by career convicts is visitations. Being able to see family or not can absolutely change or break people.
Jails are usually closer to family members if you live in the same city or county, so you can see them more often. But generally you have to talk behind glass windows and no physical contact.
Prisons can be anywhere in the state or county. So you will have less visitation or maybe never depending how faraway you are. But most prisons have physical contact so you can be closer when visiting.

alright thats nice now heres a brownie recepie
    · Sugar: These easy brownies start with two cups of white sugar.
    · Flour: All-purpose flour creates structure in the batter.
    · Butter: Two sticks of melted butter give the brownies moisture and richness.
    · Eggs: Eggs lend even more moisture. Plus, they help bind the batter together.
    · Cocoa powder: Of course, you'll need cocoa powder for chocolate brownies!
    · Vanilla: Vanilla extract enhances the overall flavor of the brownies.
    · Baking powder: Baking powder acts as a leavener, which means it helps the brownies rise.
    · Salt: A pinch of salt enhances the flavors of the other ingredients.
    · Walnuts: Nuts are optional, of course, but they add a welcome crunch.
