Some coworkers/friends/family I've known that have spent time in both Jail and Prison have pretty unanimously said that being in jail for long periods of time is way worse than prison.
no way, your telling that jail that's meant for a year or less time thus having less quality stuff is worse than prison which is meant for long term living thus having higher quality.
We all eatched the vid bro, u couldve just said jail is bad quality prison is good quality @Imcringe769

5 star hotel you mean
An important detail that went unmentioned here is, while jail will typically be less comfortable, it also means you likely won’t have to deal with as many perpetrators of worse crimes. Safer people to live around
Not true in most states. Jails usually don't have separation for people based on the type of charge they have. They usually house inmates together regardless of severity of crime, so a petty thief may end up in the same cell/pod as someone that unalived someone. This is typically true of smaller, county jails.
In prison, there are security levels that determine which prisons an inmate goes. Severe crimes are ranked higher, and usually house inmates of similar crimes together, while low level prisons house less severe crimes.
Wrong
This is untrue. Jail has very little order and structure. There is always people trying to prove themselves and very close quarters.
Some guy I knew a while back told me that someone he knew had went to jail for a few days or weeks idk. However, he said that all they did was play cards and got good at Gin rummy lol
He did mention this though 💀
In NYC, you get a prison cell for 1600$ a month.

Ive spent plenty of time in both. Always pick prison. They are both miserable, but atleast in prison u can work towards time off ur sentence by doing school and work. And then the other stuff mentioned in the video
But doesn't prison has more dangerous criminals?
That's golden advice. I would have thought for sure prison would be far more dangerous environment.
@@randomcommenter2941you just need to not beef with the dangers
It depends on the area. When they built the new jail on Orient rd in Tampa, it was called the Orient Hilton because it had so many amenities. Every pod had it's own basketball court with a weight rack. Several TV's. Coffee avaliable almost all day, and at most 1 other roommate. Before that though, the local jail was from the early 60's and looked like it was from the 30's.
I've never been to prison but I've visited and know people that were. Not counting the maximum security prisons, juvie hall was worse then prison or jail. I was in a fight near every other day there.
noone in the replies mentioning the spent plenty of time in both
I had a 30 minute long argument with my mother who thought jail and prison were the same, definitely gonna send this to them

Having 24/7 surveillance could actually save your life while in the case of jail not having it could cost you your life.
[EDIT] Holy cow! 4k and 9 comments?! Thank you so much.
If I was in this situation which never but hypothetically if I was I'd probaby choose prison so if something happened there'd be evidence to back it up. Might be more dangerous with worse criminals but I'd take my chances. Also with being able to do stuff
Prison is far more dangerous. There’s little to no chance you’ll get raped in jail.
You forget when the tapes are “mysteriously” erased 💀
@@tlomofficial dude in jail it is WAY worse, I’ve heard stories of people being held in jail and they they just mysteriously “hanged” themselves, no one questioned it cuz there’s no surveillance, in prison if it gets wiped at least they’ll have that excuse.
1yr of jail or lifetime prison 😊
I've been to jail and prison when I was a Criminal Justice student in college, another difference is violence. There is way more violence and a higher chance at being beat up in jail than in prison.
It's wild how people assume it would be the opposite.
Throw everybody in to a lesser-segregated facility, with less shit to do, and it makes perfect sense.
My ex fiancé loved jail. He kept returning there all the time. I honestly believe he enjoyed being in jail more than being in the outside world. And honestly they had a flat screen tv, books to read, plenty of other people he got along with. He was happy.
Im confused on how you willingly got engaged to someone who loves jail

I second on @@nickrafacz6313's comment
You mean prison right? I mean, I get that if people haven't been to either, they get it wrong. But as a comment on the video that literally just explained the difference? Really?
Are you mental
If you are a strong dude that nobody will mess with then prison is basically free living
I guess but you'll have to be in fear of your cell mate or others trying to kill you

@number1frankoceanfan you think that’ll matter someone pulls a shank while you walk by?
Probably but you will be tested tho, by other inmates
@number1frankoceanfan And yet more people get killed by prison than jail. Funny that
Usually you don't get a choice. The judge tells you where you'll be going based on your sentence and time served. Plus after you are in the system they can choose to transfer you (often for your own safety). Source, wife worked both jails and prisons for 5+ years
Yeah it's the point of the video, he did it like that to explain both

Hartford county jail sucked. I was sentenced to 6 days for a minor alcohol related charge but served 84 days. Was never given a reason to this day. Food was rotted and moldy, bed mats were loaded with lice and bedbugs, only 1 of the 4 showers worked and had zero hot water, only 2 toilets, and i was in there during a heat wave where the prison refused to turn on the air, it was literally 120 in that dorm. The experience was so bad it made me rethink my life and i havent been back since. That was 2008.
Hartford as in Hartford Connecticut?! Because that’s the city I live in!
@erikaceleb yes. HCC, Down the street from the xfinity theater.
Well, in hindsight, it served its purpose. Glad you're good now
Damn, that's lawsuit level of horrible. Glad you're doing better now to avoid the damned place.
You don't sue back or something?
Which one do you pick? Answer:Yes
In some non US countries jails also give you hall passes called Temporary Absence Passes, sometimes for weekends and sometimes during the day and sometimes it's house arrest but you need to check in every once in a while depending on your agreement, depending on the jurisdiction. Not everyone needs to spend all day in a prison and it saves those countries without for profit prisons a lot of money only having to house an inmate during the night, during the weekend or not at all sometimes.
These are also only for minor crimes, don't expect a hallpass if you're a murderer or something
There are siimilar opportunities in the states, for lesser crimes, such as having to attend jail on the weekends, and working during the week.
Learning Jail and prison are not the same thing gave me the same level of cultural shock when I realized restaurant and hotel are different.
You.... thought a hotel and a restaurant were the same thing?
@@Se4rchlightas a kid yes, my parents often used "lets go to a good hotel to eat". Not just then even in media many reality shows used hotel as a place to eat instead of restaurant.
Prison and jail are similar but restaurant and hotel are so different how did u mix them up like that 😭

@@readreadthedeadredguy4932 You think the U.S. is the only country in the world with Jails and Prisons? lol
Depends on the state, but state prisons on the lower end of the security scale are your best bet.
If your offense is non violent, put in the paperwork; the most freedom, the best commissary/perks.

I genuinely feel so happy watching your vids. They're so cartoonish but so informative and real. Keep it up.
Prison should have a library.
Right? Isnt it better to give criminals the option to learn and gain intelligence rather than... u know... make them stronger
What about prison and school
Hardest one ngl
Let me think:
I know school cause I can just do online school!
Maybe prison
Also the fact that prison is meant for much longer term sentences, so having a choice of serving a short term or a long term is important if that's how this scenario works
Love your vids
Never knew jail and prison were different things until now
Our county jail has a TV in every cell it's a pod so there are many cells you get your own tablet that you can text FaceTime and learn is honestly not that bad

These videos are so addicting❤
From now on I would annoy my friend saying "Do you wanna go to Jail or Prison?"
Defiantly prison no question
Having more savalence is better to keep you safe
Prison with defiance?
Always depends on many factors. In a big busy county prison might be better than jail bc so many guys coming through on bail and short time means lots of tempers and variables whereas prison would be a tad more stable though with serious choices to be made that have long term repercussions.
A smaller county, the jail might be better if it’s a low crime county and that’s better than prison which are run by the state.
*surveillance - that's not even close to the correct spelling!

I LOVE YOUR VIDS!❤
Depending on why you are in jail you can get a work release. Had plenty of people who did this at my last job. I just had to sign off on their hours down to the minute they arrived and left. Most of them were dropped off and picked up by the sheriff but I did have 1 that was able to drive himself to and from. Needles to say they always volunteered for as much OT as they could. I also had a friend that was allowed to serve his jail sentence on weekends. He had like 4 days to serve so he just went in 2 weekends in a row to serve his time.

Prison food is usually better than jail food. Plus in prison you share a room and a toilet with a bunkee. In jail you might share a large room and a row of toilets with 50 people. Sometimes there's not enough beds and you sleep on a mat on the floor.

Turkey: Prison or jail difference? Screw it! We got Silivri. And it is pretty cold...
I always thought they were the same thing
As a retired CO. The biggest difference I’ve been told by career convicts is visitations. Being able to see family or not can absolutely change or break people.
Jails are usually closer to family members if you live in the same city or county, so you can see them more often. But generally you have to talk behind glass windows and no physical contact.
Prisons can be anywhere in the state or county. So you will have less visitation or maybe never depending how faraway you are. But most prisons have physical contact so you can be closer when visiting.
If it’s the same amount of time, I’d pick prison
I’d pick jail, less chance of being killed, more dangerous prisoners in prison that might have life in there so they don’t care about fighting
The amount of times I've explained this to people is exhausting. I'm glad people are being educated.
Nice to learn these
I’ll pick neither!

There are more dangerous people in prison though prisons nowadays separate people who are in for more than 10 years away from people who are there for less than 10 years.

I loved how ‘Pineapple on Pizza’ was one of the crimes listed, and it seems pretty reasonable to me.
alright thats nice now heres a brownie recepie
· Sugar: These easy brownies start with two cups of white sugar.
· Flour: All-purpose flour creates structure in the batter.
· Butter: Two sticks of melted butter give the brownies moisture and richness.
· Eggs: Eggs lend even more moisture. Plus, they help bind the batter together.
· Cocoa powder: Of course, you'll need cocoa powder for chocolate brownies!
· Vanilla: Vanilla extract enhances the overall flavor of the brownies.
· Baking powder: Baking powder acts as a leavener, which means it helps the brownies rise.
· Salt: A pinch of salt enhances the flavors of the other ingredients.
· Walnuts: Nuts are optional, of course, but they add a welcome crunch.
