Microsoft version contains ads while the steam version doesn't. From my experience playing on my gaming laptop, the performance on the Microsoft version is better than the one on steam. Also, when playing on the steam version, matchmaking usually puts you in with pc players, steam and controllers, whereas Microsoft version you usually get matchup with Xbox and mobile players
