Cornaby's thickening gel is a thickening agent that is canning approved. You don't want to use cornstarch in recipes before you can it because it's not safe. Cornaby's thick gel is safe to use! I don't have a separate video but you can buy it on Amazon and use it just like you would any other thickening agent.
I’m sorry I don’t know if you said this at any point in the video and I may have just missed it but is this a ball/mason jar approved recipe? Just curious thanks for the information☺️🤍
I just found you on Pinterest and I think we would love this canning recipe. Do you happen to have a place where I can print a copy of it. At my age I would never remember it. Thank you.
It is a favorite around here for sure! Here is the link to the recipe on my blog! You can print it there. theranchershomestead.com/loaded-baked-potato-soup-how-to-pressure-can-it/
Cornaby's thick gel is approved for canning. You are right other thickeners (like flour and cornstarch) are not approved for canning but Cornaby's thick gel is made to sustain the heat of canning.
I linked the book where I got the recipe from. It is not my original recipe, I got it out of the book The Complete Guide to Pressure Canning. I have added the recipe to my blog as well, which is now linked in the description for your convenience.
One tablespoon of vinegar per canning run in the canning water stops build up ❤ the video 😊
Thank you for the suggestion!

Looks good, live potato soup!Instead of using clear jel, could you can it without, and add cream when you're re-heating the soup?
Yes you absolutely can! Your soup won't be quite as thick (since the clear jel is a thickening agent) but it will work wonderful to do it that way.
Thank you! I can't wait to try this. ❤🥔❤
I’d love to know how you like it!
Thank you! 🌷
You are welcome!
Hi. Not familiar with corn beef thickening gel. Does your have a video on this?

Important question. Don't assume that everyone knows if it's approved or not.

Did you drain the bacon grease???
I did not drain it, it adds more flavor!
I thought you couldn't add any thickener when you're canning, but had to do that after opening to use your soup. Am I confused about this?
No, you are not confused.
