You have said this perfectly. This is instrument plus the music are very contemplating. They make us look back from the noise and confusion we have today. We don't realize how much noise is around until the lights go out. :-) The clavichord sounds perfect here for these pieces almost like a lute.
Thanks! The tangent piano is however an other instrument. I have never seen one. There is an article in the english wiki: The tangent piano has an unusual sound that fuses the qualities of the harpsichord and piano. The treble resembles the bright sound from a light action piano, and the bass resembles the bass from a harpsichord. The sound from instrument to instrument varies, as does one's personal description of the tangent piano's sound.
I particularly like your playing of these pieces, to the point that I shall try them myself. This video is the subject of some correspondence between myself and the Editor of the British Clavichord Society Journal, who has encouraged me to publish my views, so I'll try to get them to you. (he prefers your Quirinus). Thanks - beautiful playing on a good instruemnt and carefully recorded,
Unfortunately, there is only a short resonace time. On a bigger clavichord, it's of course a little longer. One can make a pedal effect with leaving the fingers on the keys.
Ernst, You play the clavichord as well as you play the harpsichord and gamba. ;-) I've played these pieces too on the clavichord. They are really perfect for it. I think better than the harpsichord and virginal.
I actually know and can play the second piece. Nice. Very lighthearted and easy. May I inquire what the title of it means? "Fusi pavana piana" Also I see you took some liberties on the rhythm. Or it's just a different sheet that I own... Anyways, very nice performance.
Thanks! Well early Italian is not easy to translate. When it concerns a title, that is even more difficult. It must be something like a plain mixed pavan. I don't know what edition you use.
Clavichords Strike the strings, unlike virginals and harpsichords which pluck the strings. Sometimes I’m reluctant to call the virginal it’s own instrument (it really is to the harpsichord what an upright piano is to a grand), though it plucks the string more in the middle, which gives it a slightly different tone than the harpsichord which plucks closer to the tuning peg. But the clavichord is a completely different thing.

Isn't the last piece not the intro to the famous piece by Valente? Great piece indeed.

Thank you for your message. It is really charming music I think. Did you listen to my new clavichord recording (Byrd, Nevells ground)?

this is an old one...
The Sabathil & Son Clavichord demonstration - Well-Tempered Clavichord
is totally out of tune - so they don't "approve" my comment.
Not out of tune, it's a different tuning and temperament.
