    Are the lenses compatible fully with z6II? Considering u come from a crop sensor to full ? I know you can use FTZ adapter but i was wondering about the vignetting stuff. Thank you

      The Nikon f5.6 200-500mm is a full-frame lens so is fully compatible with and Z series Mirrorless camera 😉

    Excellent explanation of why the Z6ii was the best choice for you. Thanks for sharing and giving us all food for thought.

    I have the 200-500 and the 200-400 . The 2-400 has always been my favourite , so the unused 200-500 is going (boxed unused mint) posted (£850)

    • @CharlesNPhotography
      @CharlesNPhotography  8 місяців тому

      Yes, but these two lenses are very different. The 200-400mm f4 is a pro lens, whereas the 200-500mm is a consumer lens

    Excellent content! I am enjoying my Nikon Cameras with great Z lenses. I am on the fence about the F mount lenses because I love the Z mount glass better. I am looking into the long range primes but I am not wildlife photographer yet. Just landscapes and pets for now and of course video. Stay Safe and Keep Smiling! Cheers!

      Thanks Mike, It won't take that long, but it's definitely going to be a challenge. the Focus system is very different to what I've been use to.

    I also moved from D500 to z6ii for two months ago. People put the z6ii down but the camera is much better than people say. Not perfect but for the price and to replace D500 it's a great choice. For birds in flight, use Animal small and don't put in the box, and the camera performs better than D500 imo.

      Thank you for your feedback, I also think to many people are complaining about the Z6ii when in fact it's a great camera. And I've give your settings a go next time I'm out.

    Thanks for sharing, Charles! After being Canonier for years I decided to switch to Nikon and get started with the D780, a great camera but not the best for Birds in Flight. So my main gear became the D500 with the 200-500. In our photographers group the most use a 150-600/f6.3, but photos taken with the 200-500 f5.6 look always a little bit better (my personal opinion). Your examples confirm this view. Now I got the Z6II as replacement for the D780, but I will keep the D500 for BiF. Greetings!

      Thanks for sharing! I'm about to publish a video tutorial on which are the best AF-modes to use for Bird Photography when using the Nikon Z6II which will certainly help you out.

    @charles
    Please I need your advice !
    My D500 seems ro have AF issues with the hardware . So moving on to mirroless I dont know what to choose from the z series
    Z50 ? Z6 or Z6 ii
    I enjoy doing wildlife but I am not a very advanced with using the D500.
    I really care to have a sharper image quality , and a brilliant autofocus !
    Regladless DX / FX
    Why did not you chose the Nikon Z50 DX which is better for wildlife moving on from D500D?
    Z50 new for around £899
    Z6 used with low shutter count for £696
    Z6ii used aound £1k

      One of the main reasons that I sold my D500 and bought the Z6II was for the video capabilities of the Z6II. Plus also being able to see a real-time view of what I video and when I take photos I can see before I take the photo if my image is over or under-exposed.
      The Z50 didn't have the features that I wanted.
      I would pay a few $ more and buy the Z6II

    Thanks for sharing your experience with great comments...I still have my D500 as I don't see the benefit of mirrorless gear as a hobbyist...I would sooner buy better glass as I also do very little video...maybe if I win lotto I would upgrade but happy for now with my D500.... cheers 😀

    • @CharlesNPhotography
      @CharlesNPhotography  2 роки тому +1

      Totally agree! and I would have done the same thing if I were you. Like I stated in the video, my main reason for going to mirrorless was to shoot videos of the wildlife i see during my wildlife photo-walks

    Charles, Nikon saw the writing on the wall. SONY is a video camera company. Their video equipment is superb. Nikon woke up one morning and realized that the mass market of young kids were doing U-tube, Facebook and other social media stuff. Only diehard photographers/professionals were taking stills. They jumped into video behind SONY & Canon.
    Agreed, if you go to SONY, you start from scratch with equipment. Kids today are satisfied with their cell phone cameras and it's killing the camera market. One advantage for me is the increasing market of used Nikon lenses. BTW, still looking for a good condition D90 as a back up. Excellent video.

      Thank you so much Dennis, I've really no intentions of buying Z lenes as they're way to expensive. I may look for a FX 70-300mm lens in the future and in early 2023 will look at getting a Samyang 14mm f2.8 for photographing the Milky Way. But for now I'm happy with what I have. I also bought a Nikon FX 24-85mm lens for $300 which I'll use for capturing landscape images.

      @@CharlesNPhotography The Nikon G lenses will autofocus on the Z's. The AF-D will manual focus. This is the way the business is going. I am going to repeat what I've said before. If you're going to shoot serious/commercial video, do not use mirrorless or DSLR. Go out and get a commercial grade, 3 gun, video camera. You post very good content. Keep it up.

    • @CharlesNPhotography
      @CharlesNPhotography  2 роки тому

      Out of my price range and the Z6ii as better low light performance which is great for wildlife and astro which using high ISO.

    Just get a real fluid video head! There will be a big difference, if you want to have a smooth panning in your videos. My recommendation would be the E-IMAGE GH06F Video Fluid Head as a starter video head. That would be the smallest one, which have full adjustments. (There is also a full kit with tripod: E-IMAGE EG06C2 Video Tripod Kit) Don´t aim for smaller videoheads. Rule of thumb: the bigger the video head will be, the softer the panning...
    Sirui does also have some nice fluid video heads...and there is: Sachtler...
    Don´t use Manfrotto video heads, because they are only friction video heads and not real fluid video heads.

    • @CharlesNPhotography

      Thank you for your advice and I'll look into these video tripod heads 🙏
