@@shenaniganshop3309 Given this is in the UK that's most likely KPH, not MPH. So it probably is the 1/8th mile
Edit: Pretty sure I heard him say miles an hour in there so ....I'm probably wrong lol. If that is a quarter, that's crazy to do it in the 9's. Then again,the power to weight ratio with these things is probably huge.
It’s definitely the full 1/4 mile and the speeds are definitely miles per hour

1:15 6 wheeler definitely seems like he had a rolling start
There seems to be a pretty wide weight they need to stay on when it goes green. A lot of them started rolling a little before the start, so I'm assuming it's fine as long as they're still on the weight.

Well, knowing how to stage is the trick then.
It would too much load on the rear end and not enough torque
They can roll because they are so low that the beam does not reconnect and start the clock, until the whole kart has passed the beam. Sounds like it's cheating but it is the same for all of them so requires a different way of reading the lights.
I can see where this is heading, wheels getting larger, frames will lengthen, engines with more displacement...Oh wait,......

dcctech I’ve seen a snowmobile at Caguya in lower Ontario and I had no idea ppl modified them to drag race
I love snowmobile drag racing. First time I saw it on pavement it blew my mind

Its mph because a normal sports cars do 5/6 seconds to 100kph and in this videos this carts do 110 (mph) in 10/12/12 seconds

Very cool, I love the green energy windmill in the back ground of super charged 2 stroke engines!
To me, it's just amazing that technology has come so far to produce these little motors that just kick ass.
This looks like so much fun. The safety seems a little nil, but the center of gravity is so low, I doubt you could roll one unless you happen to hit the wall.
My biggest worry would be popping a tire. Either front and your going into the wall with your knees as the crumple zone.
at over 80 u will roll it if u get it fully sideways with how that track is prepped

I have a relative who races a nitrous drag bike. There definately a certain level of insanity required to this sorta stuff
2:10 Imagine 30 of these things lined up in a grid at Monza or Spa. Karts with this kind of power would be wild to see race in Monaco too, I could only imagine the overtaking. I dream of a formula series with these kinds of machines, you’d need nerves of steel though.

Superkarts have been around since the 60's....
Yeah, Superkarts have been fast on the road courses for years. 135mph+ with 250cc 2 stroke engines. I enjoy watching those at tracks that also host full size cars. Karts are faster than full sized cars around some road courses.
Thanks for the views on the Karts on the dragstrip. I used to race gokarts on our local tracks on the weekends. These Karts on the dragstrip have quite a bit of power to them and great traction. Looked like some of them were getting up into the 130 mph speeds at the end.

As Niki Lauda once said, the difference between a kart and a go-kart is 100mph. Going by Niki's words these are most definitely not go-karts!

Mate, people who drag race don't care. The danger is part of the adrenaline kick which is what these people crave. If they cared about safety they would drag race rc cars.

I've gone 7.40s At over 170 mph on 2 wheels I can tell you that's fast But these carts Look like one h*** of an Adrenaline rush... Some of these guys run and 9 seconds 5" off the ground I think I might like to try that

When I was 12 years old I had a go cart that was clocked at 29.875 mph. I thought I was flying. Nothing like these go carts. They are amazing.
Very kool! I used to race karts, my dad used to race with all the famous Indy and NASCAR guys and beat them too. But never thought about adding rocket motors for 1/4 mile... Like I said pretty kool. Did that one guy have motors, lol. And the guy purging NOS & using it at end! GREAT!!! Loved it!

I used to run alcohol 5 horse briggs go carts, 20-25 horsepower. We ran on circle dirt tracks. This is a first for me to see motorcycle engines on a go cart. Most people run 2 stroke dirt bike engines and called shifter carts.

Great racing. I wonder if anybody’s come up with a wider front end for stability? Seems time could be saved and the carts might go straighter down the track.

You can do it yourself if you buy a normal chasis, make it longer, reinforce it, then put a big motorcycle engine on it.

I'd love to see a standard Formula E (i.e. 250 Rotax) kart try this. I'm sure it'd be a hell of a lot quicker than karts with massive engines and an elongated chassis.
Chapp, Exactly plus they run on Road Courses for 45 minutes as most enduro kart races are . A hell of lot more fun that this . Not to take anything away from those that build these drag karts as that's an art in itself. These are fine in a straight line but don't ever try and corner in one !!!

Never driven a real "highpowered" Kart just the bog standard ones but they are fun as hell! also driven the next step formula 1600 type! Have no clue what that 1600 would do in a 1/4 mile but a guesstimate would be 13-14s?

Would setting up a rear swing arm style suspension help launching stability? I imagine if some of the load was put into a strut instead of 100% of it going into the tire it may "help". I suppose since none of them do, it must either not be allowed or beneficial

It makes for an affordable class I'm sure.
And fun fact the workds fastest 1/4 top fuel drag cars have no rear suspension.
Simon Barbarasch suspension would just bog the gram down so that is why they just rely on the air filled rubber tires to smooth out the bumps... but solid hard rubber wheels would probably eliminate that rapid tire bounce .
My dear late father was known to take a go kart with two Harley engines down the strip in the early 50's. There's all kinds of crazy and it ain't nothing new.
