1) Will the audience approve the "new mix" of AR game & Kdrama romance?

-hi Frank I can only guess. Everyone at the ballroom was confused. I think Park Shinhye privately explained what's going on to Hyun Bin (1:33-1:44). Most Korean press simply put it, the directer said Park recommended Chanyeol, while Park made an x sign with her fingers.
This is a case of Shin hye being self-concious and apprehensive with follow up questions of the Directors answer. It is pretty obvious PSH, didn't want to draw attention to the fact , her current boyfriend Choi Tae Joon is best friends with EXO Chanyeol. Hence, if they went as far as asking how did they came to know each other; that information might be divulged.
At the end of the day, she made it more awkward by her reaction, otherwise everyone would have moved on from the question without taking notice. You can tell just by Hyunbin reaction to the whole thing lol

This was literally one of the best kdrama with the strongest chemistry and nicest ending.They didnt even say i love you or didn’t do much skinny scene but it wad far better from others.Love this-

@@minadia7855 this is not an exol thing in general Kpop fans tend to be more on the possessive type they mostly hope or want that their idol doesn’t date so they mostly do it privately and more secretive so every hint that an female is somehow connected to an idol could end up in rumours that they are secretly involved and the females tend to get a lot of hate from the fandom. It has gotten a lot better but it still happens so involvement of idols and other people of the opposite gender tend to be avoided to not cause any problems. (I think that’s what was meant)

That's not true kdrama actor and actress popularity isn't base on their acting skills. It's based on they physical appearance to be honest they acting skills are limited because the dramas storyline are not original. The most talented and skills are the children actor/actress in Korea

The drama is perfect to me, in fact, its one of my best so far. I never imagined k-dramas to come up with such a beautiful piece. For Game lovers, you all know the delight, binging such extraordinary drama. The ending is also understandable, all dramas shouldn't end to what you expected of it. Its glaring that he is gonna be alive. if you practically watched the movie there is a saying stated at the end about "Hope of seeing each other again not just the game'. what more do you want to know. To me, if there is no season 2, the season 1 ended well. I love love this piece.

Petition for season 2
They may be making a second season in late 2021 or early 2022!!! I looked it up so there might be one!! And I honestly am not too mad about the ending! It wasn't A cliche love story ending and since we all loved it so much it gave a way to continue the series. If it ended with both automatically together there would be no reason for another!

Agree, for me the ending has quite finished all the problems that we encounter throughout the drama, and that ending showed that he is still alive, and still on a high level of the game. So I think as long as Jin Woo is still alive, it is a good ending, not a sad one

I don't get why people don't like the ending. Lol. The ending was okay, you can just imagine the next part, but yes I want to see him being saved, but for sure he'll be saved just like how he saved the brother of park shinhye.

@@mariaaguilar9270 I guess Jin woo is not dead, as Se Ju said, he might go to the dungeon that can be used only by Master. And as the game was reset after he is gone, I think Jin Woo can't get out of the dungeon, because the game is halted. When J One released the game publicly, it means the game is back, it is active. Because of that, finally he can go out of the dungeon. And I think why there is zinu's powder in the church, cause I think the bug is that username (zinu), so I think the powder is only zinu but not Jin Woo. For your question on did Jin Woo and Hee Ju meet, I think it's open for your interpretation. But I strongly believe that they will meet, cause they are in the same location at the last scenes.

I have a feeling Professor Cha might really be a villain in the drama. He's played by the same actor who played Han Hyo Joo's father in W. He does a great job with sinister facial expressions. And Dr. Cha, the actor that plays him is also doing a great job. You're really not sure whether to hate him or have pity on his character. That said, both of them add a lot to the drama. We'll just have to see if Park Shin Hye's character will become more central to the plot of the drama.

DECODING MEMORIES OF THE ALHAMBRA: ECHOES OF THE MATRIX (Abbreviated Version)

Part I - Memories of the Alhambra (MOTA) echoes Matrix not only because it is an action filled science fiction thriller, but because it is a fable whose main characters possess similar purposes. Kdrama’s first foray utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) is an ambitious project for a television drama and a refreshingly philosophical and spiritual treasure. While Matrix is a story about control and authority, MOTA serves as a treatise on human behavior. MOTA advances the idea that man must transcend his lower nature by knowing himself in order to benefit the greater good.
MOTA IS A PHILOSOPHICAL, RELIGIOUS AND SPIRITUAL TRILOGY
This hauntingly beautiful drama pairs a video game with AR triggering several philosophical questions as did Matrix. MOTA stealthily delves into branches of philosophy (i.e.- metaphysics, epistemology, axiology and logic). Similar to Matrix, it tackles religious ideology, referencing Christianity and Islam, and employs religious symbolism and iconography. Though the religious symbolism seems very surface initially, a detailed review reveals the brilliance of pairing state of the art technological concepts with ancient principles and wisdom. Gleaned and preserved by Greek philosophers, this knowledge from the Ancient Egyptian Mystery System was eventually carried into Spain by the Moors, who brought Europe out of the Dark Ages. This makes the fact that the drama is initially set in Spain is very appropriate.
Just as Song meshes several genre, themes and religions, the screenwriter interlocks the philosophical ideas, such that you cannot consider one without the other. The spiritual ideas are woven seamlessly into the story. Following is an example of the metaphysics used in the drama:
The AR game’s world and the real world of the drama begs questions about the rules of the AR game and its impact on the real world. When questioning rules, we are in the territory of metaphysics. MOTA wastes no time in immersing the audience in a guessing game. Just as the IT Manager Choi Yang Ju, Master Jung Seeju and Yoo Jinwoo, begin to ask how certain things are possible, the audience too questions possibilities when Seeju and Jinwoo interact with the game. Jinwoo presents the audience a third world to be concerned with, that of the “crazy,” which has its on rules.
Part II - MOTA v. Matrix - Characters in MOTA share some of the same features as characters in the Matrix. Jinwoo is MOTA’s Thomas Anderson/NEO. Albeit fearful and youthful Jung Seeju the maker of the game represents the Architect; the teenage Jung Minju represents the Oracle in the real world; Jung Heejoo represents the sacred feminine energy similar to Trinity; and instead of a self-composed, regal Morpheus, the quirky IT Manager Choi serves as Jinwoo’s mentor. Following are a few example of how MOTA echoes Matrix:
1. Jinwoo is “The One”, it’s spelled out in plain sight with his company name, JOne, just as Neo is the One if you change the letters around in his name;
2. When we are first introduced to Jinwoo, he is awakened from sleep by a telephone call. In the Matrix, Thomas Anderson/Neo is shown as being asleep at the beginning of the movie. Sleep symbolizes a state of unawareness or unconsciousness.
3. When Jinwoo was sedated after his injury, Minju tells Jinwoo that he only wanted Heejoo to care for him, no one else. So, in his unconscious state Jinwoo knew how important it was for him to be with Heejoo, but he did not know the reason. Minju also told Jinwoo that she had given him a new nickname, the Master, just as The Oracle talked to Neo about being the One.
Part III - SPIRITUAL MUSINGS: MYSTERY SYSTEMS
So, is MOTA an allegory? Does it have a meaning? In order to make a determination as to whether it has a meaning or not it is necessary to review the symbolism in MOTA. Ancient Egypt birthed the seven Hermetic Laws and teachings of virtues. This too is where we can find knowledge cultivated by secret societies. It is within this information that we decode the meaning of MOTA:
1. Jinwoo inserting the JOne contact lens into his right eye brings to mind Neo peering from his apartment, #101, using his right eye. In Ancient Egypt, the right eye is “The Eye of Ra” a powerful destructive force of the sun. IT Manager Choi asks Jinwoo when he removes the lens, “is it hot?”. On the other hand the left eye is depicted as the “Eye of Horus,” “the all-seeing eye,” of protection. The all-seeing eye sees into the spirit world. So, obviously the JOne lenses represent the all-seeing eye and sees into the AR game world, the spirit world.
2. Jinwoo Knocked of His Square - A square is composed of four 90 degree angles. The four angles equal 360 degrees. In some secret societies it signifies the foundation of all knowledge. In Ancient Egypt, it is also said to represent the higher and lower nature. At the beginning of the drama, after Jinwoo arrives in Granada to test the game, wearing the lenses, Jinwoo watches an Aragon Warrior ride up to him on a horse. The Warrior has been shot in the back with six arrows and falls dead from the horse. The horse with its four legs epitomizes the square. The warrior riding the horse symbolizes a man that has risen above and overcame his lower nature. Obviously, him falling off the horse signifies him having succumbed to his lower nature. This event serves as an omen for Jinwoo. It signifies Jinwoo losing his ability to control his lower nature. In the drama the number six arises at least three times. As stated the Aragon Warrior had six arrows in his back, Jinwoo’s, room number 601, at the hostel is on the sixth floor, and when he and Hyeon-Seok (his old friend and enemy) prepare to duel he mentions that they have had six challenges. Jinwoo eventually falls the six flights down. Once again, the sixes operate as a warning. In some sacred circles, the sum total 666 equals the lower nature. In the Bible six is considered a sign of human weakness and sin.
3. Like Trinity in the Matrix, Heejoo provides the compassion and love that can only be given by the sacred feminine energy that Jinwoo seeks and needs in order to transcend his lower nature. Heejoo is passive and emotional, unlike Trinity, but both women stay in distress in the respective movies. Heejoo worries, runs and cries though out MOTA. Law of Opposites - Principle of Polarity, it is necessary to point-out that MOTA cannot be told without a romance. Some viewers of the drama state that they felt the romance was unnecessary, because they were more interested in the AR game. Heejoo symbolizes the feminine principle and is Jinwoo’s opposite. Throughout the drama on several occasions, Heejoo and Jinwoo stood opposite of and staring at each other. Heejoo embodied the compassion and love that Jinwoo sought. It was when Jinwoo kissed Heejoo for the first time that he accepted love and started operating based upon his heart.
There is more symbolism in MOTA, for example the injuring of Jinwoo's left leg, etc. that tell us about this very thought-provoking drama. Actors, Hyun Bin and Park Shin Hye provided excellent performances. My criticisms are that we needed to see more of Park Shin Hye's character in action and explanations for the unexplained phenomena.
I believe this drama is underrated, because several people do not understand its meaning, which goes beyond the AR game. I definitely recommend watching MOTA.

... :-) probably I'm the only one thinking Jin-woo (HyunBin's character) was such a manipulative bastard -- so menacing, and controlling at times towards Hee-jun, or at best just teasing... I liked the ending :-) (__truth to be told HyunBin was excellent in this drama ; he should win some prize for this, he was so good)

This k-drama is also about virtual life, videogames and their power over the gamer's life&soul (and also his dear ones), about artificial inteligence and it's relationship with us - can it overpower us, can we become part of it? Even physically??... Me, I think he became part of the game, where he felt accomplished , and left the real world ( :) of course, it's just a film..)

The subject of this drama is really important sps. for those who spend so much time with gaming, but the main characters have no chemistry in between compaired with Crash on you, that was really prefound and recomended to watch.
MOTA is very deep, thought-provoking, hauntingly beautiful and artistic. It tells the story of human nature viewed through the lens of an AR game. There is a lot of symbolism and spirituality in it that if you do not know how to interpret it you will not understand the allegory in the drama. The chemistry that most people cannot detect in MOTA is the intangible emotional and psychological interaction between Jinwoo and Heejoo. Their relationship is symbolic, as well. CLOY though beautiful love story is very cliche, a lot of cheesy and in my opinion cringe worthy moments. If you like cliche, surface, linear, and cheesy you'll love CLOY. If you like edgy, cerebral, out-of-the-box, awesome special effects, excellent cinematography, you'll love MOTA. Give me MOTA...I'd rather have my mind stimulated any day...

I based my humorous assumption, that Jemmy’s question had a flattering note, on the translation "walking brand", which might connote as smth excessive, but when I checked what 믿고 보는 could actually mean, it became, maybe, a bit more apparent that it's just a normal and polite manner of saying "trust worthy"! Or something similar!? :)
