I’m taking my Mom to visit here in a few weeks. Her Dad was stationed there in the Illinois Militia between the World Wars. He served as a cook

I lived there from 1984 to 1988 while serving in the Army. Some of the best years of my life. I was all over that building behind you because that was where I was attached. The basement still had graffiti on the walls. The basement scared me and that was where I had the craziest things happen. There and in the tower. I worked there in an office in one of the buildings behind the tower and also in an office to the right of the tower from 1988 to 1990 as a civil servant. I was even interviewed by CNN when the government decided to close Fort Sheridan in 1988. So many memories of that place. Sometimes I dream that I am still there. It breaks my heart that so much of the history has been destroyed to make money for rich developers. I guess it could be worse. 💔
