If it’s a Cummins it’s the X15. That’s what is in my T880 haul truck and you’re right, it’s a beast. I don’t haul this heavy but I’m still north of 100K most of the time and it doesn’t even strain

Also, there are issues with clearances of bridges, utility lines, and traffic to name a few considerations when you haul an oversized/overwide load. The state decides what route the driver is to use. The docks in Baltimore, MD see a large amount of freight moving in and out of the port. A case in point is the railroad tracks, where the load bottomed out. C S X Railroad had to be informed of the move, along with the time of crossing their tracks. You can hear a locomotive's horn in the background. This was a time sensitive move.

Well, you jump in the truck and go anywhere anytime. Only restrictions are a 10 hrs mandatory rest. Sometimes, these guys are just sitting and waiting for a permit, escort, cops, loading, and the right time to move. I spoke with a driver who was stuck at the WV border for 6 days waiting for the permit to be approved, it takes a lot of patience.
That driver must have a lot of experience, the way he mad the turn coming out onto the main road was incredible and brilliant to watch 🙏 please please bring more videos, keep safe trucker. John 🏴🏴🏴🏴
@user-fl9wt2wm8othat’s not even close to being true lol. Every time the truck pulls a hill, there’s more force pulling backwards on the fifth wheel jaws and kingpin. My old truck had a double locking fifth wheel for this exact reason.
Although i'm sure this paid well, i would rather take 5 drop and hook cross country turn and burns than take this load. I couldn't take those slow speeds all day and the amount of intense concentration needed. My hats off to those who can. You're a better man than I am.

Yeah that's real brilliant to be running 55 or whatever the posted limit is and then almost stopping for every bridge deck on the beltway. The flashing red, blue and yellow lights surrounding the load with all the escorts are not going to prevent an accident. Just the opposite, its been known to happen. Kind of like bugs flying at night and attracted to the lights. A true scenario where a college student that run into the tail end of a big load with police and civilian escorts and caused the accident. "Gee was there an accident here?" asked the dummy. Truck drivers response "not until you got here." This happened back in early 90's I think. State police escorts in Maryland change out at county lines and those tragedy happened on the right shoulder side of road with three lanes of traffic on 40/48.

Cuts down on wear and tear to raise it while turning and makes it easier. I run a 7 axle stretch and in sharp turns I have to raise my axle otherwise it pushes me straight instead of turning plus chews up tires. I couldn't tell if this guy has a steerable push axle or a solid mounted axle. A really cool video though. Im currently looking for a company I can grow into a 13 axle set up. I have a lot left to learn but Ill get there one day. I watch videos like this trying to gain as much information as I can. Not a lot of resources or knowledge being shared in this line of work. Id imagine there is less than 10,000 people in the world that can do what these guys do.

If the overpass is too low or the load is too heavy, they take the ramp and return, sometimes that a 4 to 5 mile detour. Thank you for watching my channel

Each crew has there own way of handling things, lately I reminded few drivers, the trains are very slow because they are stopping at the gate to enter the port.
@@terry_willisThere's actually oversized rail cars very similar to this trailer setup. The downside is that only certain parts of the IS rail system can do it (mainly due to height restrictions in tunnels) and you end having to just load it into one of these semis to get it to the final destination

Need dedicated roads or at least lanes for all rigs. They have them for cars with 2 or more passengers, ha ! Over road trucks keep a country alive and running, the least we could do is dedicate rig only lanes, no RV’s or 5th wheels either. Black guy comes up and said she didn't look and started to pull out. Right. Take that guys word vs hers? We walked over to the cop shop. Black guy vanished. Woman goes off to the desk cop I was at fault. Black guy reappears, now wearing his officers uniform.
In Europe we always laugh at the ridiculous amount of axles and wheels you guys need for that weight. The weight per axle you got are allowed to carry is almost unworkable.😅
Is that a transformer if so that's alot of copper in there and secondly it's that heavy to need 19 axles one last thing that is ridiculous route for that load by the way my gmc duramax can pull that no problem😁

Yes, there is a lot of copper in it, depending on the size of the transformer, between 80 and 130 tons. This transformer has a total weight of around 300 tons or a little more. I myself work for the company Royal Smit Transformers in the Netherlands. Even though these transformers are built every day, I always find it admirable when you see these transformers that you helped build on the other side of the world. It is always fascinating to me how much transport effort is involved in transporting them. Excuse my English.

All that weight is pushed on a tiny little kingpin. That is what I call steel.

The speed aloud on a permit move around the Baltimore Beltway used to be 35 mph. Enforced by the city cops.

Yes, there is a lot of copper in it, depending on the size of the transformer, between 80 and 130 tons. This transformer has a total weight of around 300 tons or a little more. I myself work for the company Royal Smit Transformers in the Netherlands. Even though these transformers are built every day, I always find it admirable when you see these transformers that you helped build on the other side of the world. It is always fascinating to me how much transport effort is involved in transporting them. Excuse my English.
