Always a great pleasure to sit quietly and listen to Ron Thompson. I see Ron as a Rhodesian National Treasure.

I had an encounter with a svikiro in the kotwa area when i tried to bring him in for questioning.
He refused to get into my landrover as he was not allowed to be in any kind of vehicle.
I then sat down with him and he told me facts about my self that stunned me as he could not have known them.
Bewildering encounter and gave me a bit of an understanding of the tribal beliefs so strongly held to this day.
Fascinating interview with Ron. Thank you.

I remember an event where the truck we were driving suffered a tyre puncture , it just happened to coincide with a bad time period of local superstition , we could not get any of the natives in our party to change the tyre , as it was an omen of bad tidings & cursed , they drove us nuts with their spiritual beliefs & fears.

Good interview, about a fascinating subject. I respect Ron and his knowledge greatly, but I'll admit to laughing out loud at the line '...it hadn't been just straightforward incest...' 😐

It is a fact that even today especially in SA the cash in transit specifically always use spirit mediums before a heist

I love this history. Born and bred Zimbabwe. Did a short stint at the end in the RLI. Where can we find the books in Zim?

They Grey's Scouts were ambushed very often when following tracks in hot pursuit. Very precarious so understand this very well.

Never. I can not. And impossible. Are not welcome in my field of living, domain of activity, or interest spheres. Thus does my vocabulary lack true and correct expression of my respect and admiration for Mr. Thomson.
    I'll start with doyen.

@@charlieking-williams9725 While I respect your opinion with regards to the black Rhodesian people culture being "certainly not Holy nor Civilised", I trust you are aware that in their way of praise and worship those same people call upon the name of Mwari Baba i.e. God, The Father or "Nyamusikavanhu", i.e. The Creator of Human Beings, translated into English..
Deeper knowledge of the culture of the black inhabitants living mostly between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers also reveals an amazing culture where crimes and mischief such as murder, theft, incest, adultery, fornication, cattle rustling are condemned and the culprits punished accordingly.
Theirs is also among the few cultures who up to this date strongly oppose that Adam can marry Steve and start a family in the same way that happens when Adam marries Eve. Such is a culture that you refer to as "not Holy or Civilised".
