    Thanks so much to a couple of our lovely community for pointing our that the other *new blush 'Sublime Flush' was previously in the Ghost ambient lighting palette. So if you have that palette, you already have that blush! Xx

    This would have been a nice chance for Hourglass to make blushes and bronzers for Tan-deeper skin but nooo... another blush for fair-medium skin. I’m not even that deep Fenty (410) , Too Faced(Chai), Nars(Macao) but all their powder products show up like White ash on my skin and their complexion products are so orange for darker skintones. They don’t have any shades for deep skin tones, they don’t run dark at all

      Fun Fact: Black woman once used triple shifted flour as powder which gave them a ash look but they also used it on their neck and chest. They used a man's tee shirt to rub it off as much as possible to set their face since they did not have foundation or powder for their skin tone. I use to help my mother by shifting her flour. I guess Hourglass want us to continue using flour.

      Why wouldn't people want everyone to be able to use beauty products? Those who are very pale and those on the darker tones are usually left out, it's not just the darker tones.
      My best friend is pale as snow and I'm dark brown we both have problem with many beauty companies, especially Hourglass. We just sightsee when it comes to Hourglass.

    I'm roughly your skintone when I'm tanned, and my initial thoughts regarding hourglass were the same as yours, none of the blushes would ever work. However when I was at their counter in Berlin swatching the blushes (all looked white and ashy), a really helpful saleswoman told me that you can't swatch hourglass products because they swatch completely different from what they apply. So she did my makeup and applied the blushes and it turned out that I found four that I really enjoyed. Just something to bear in mind if you'd like to try their blushes. But yes absolutely they need to expand their shade range

    Yess thanks so much for posting! This looks like the first hourglass blush that I will purchase. Are there any visible glitters in this one? Also thank you for not apologizing for calling out lack of inclusivity in shade ranges (especially in luxury cosmetics). Certainly agree with you about inclusivity! In a market where you are wanting to please/sell, to the general public, to be a complete representative of a brand, you really can’t omit specific skin colors/tones, and if you don’t understand that concept, you need a consultant or a different line of work!
    I love that you underscore this point. 😘

    I have an individual blush in Incandescent Electra and it’s the most beautiful blush I own. It shows up on me just fine even when I’m really tan. At my tannest my skin is about the same shade as you. In the pan it looks like it’s gonna be light but on the skin it’s much darker and it’s gorgeous. It’s more of a peachy coral blush and it’s luminous. I totally agree with you that brands have got to be inclusive and have products for everybody and I appreciate that you talk about it. Totally agreed that Hourglass needs to STEP IT UP with color range, it’s ridiculous and at one point there will be an outrage. However, I think you should try some other Hourglass blushes on your cheeks if you haven’t already. Their blushes are GLORIOUS just like what one experienced with this one, but strangely doesn’t show up much when swatched. I used it in my bridal work often because it gives me a perfectly beaming blushing bride every time. I’ve used Diffused Heat oh darker complexion and have it still be visible, so maybe give that a try. Although this one really seems the BEST blush for medium+ skin tone.

    I really think they need to do a range that doesnt have the marble effect - and then make some deep shades that arent washed down by the ambient powder. Basically thinking like the unlocked range but with right colours. I find the marble to make it really variable - you can get them too light or too dark dependent on the mix. Take that out of the equation and then be inclusive with your colours.

    • @jazmeen04
      @jazmeen04 3 роки тому

      But the ambient powder is what makes their products special. It's why I want to try it. They just need to make darker more bronze ambient powder that they can use to marble with. Without the ambient powder, I don't see what is so unique about hourglass.

    • @Amber86queenbee
      @Amber86queenbee 3 роки тому

      jazmeen04 fair enough if that is what attracts you to the brand. I can use HG but the marble effect is so incredibly annoying - sometimes you waste your $ (outside the USA no refunds) if there is too much ambient powder that the blush becomes almost non-existent and I am NC20 so that is saying something. Sometimes it ends up incredibly bright if there is too much colour & little ambient. The unlocked palette became so popular as it still has that blurring effect without being variable. It is just an easy solution to the pot luck of how they manufacture but you are right they could also do a deeper shade of ambient powder.

    I totally agree with you Charlotte. It is a beautiful blush! Still Hourglass has a lot of work to do when it comes to expanding their shade range. If they are not working towards inclusivity then they are actively excluding a lot of skin tones (they are not the only one to be honest) and there is absolutely no reason for it that can ever make sense 🤷🏾.

    Hi Charlotte! If you've tried the current hourglass range on your skintone and it doesn't work then fair enough, but I'm very close to you in tone and I have two of their singles: mood exposure (LOVE, beautiful buildable nude shade) and diffused heat (nice but not my fave, quite pink with microglitters). They're both buildable and show up well on me.
    I was really interested in the other "new" shade sublime flush, turns out it's a repeat from the ghost palette. That's probably why it's not been advertised but it looks beautiful! I'm so tempted to buy it but I already have toooooo many blushes

I saw the other shade too and was equally surprised they didn’t mention it. I also saw they removed the shade Brilliant Nude from their site. Edit: My bad, brilliant nude is there. I always forget that they have two different formulas, one with ambient lighting powder and one with strobe lighting powder, and their website groups them separately.

    I have the diffused heat and its terrible it has diffused light powder mixed with the blush color and even on me light to medium it doesnt show up unless I strategically put my brush on only the pink color. The blushes that don't have the marble are my fav from them.

      Brittany Myers Yes I wish they didn’t do the marbling, it’s so deceptive as to what the colour will look like on the cheek. My eye gets drawn to the coloured bits and I think it’ll work, but in actual use the colour gets so diluted by the ambient lighting powder base that they end up too pale. Just make a solid blush so we can see what we’re getting!

    Ok, now that I’ve watched your swatches, I’m curious. I picked up the Lunar New Year limited edition blush from Hourglass last year, and I’m wondering how similar it is.

      I have the 2019 lunar new year blush and it looked similar to me too, but the new year one is maybe even slightly more magenta/cool tone, more similar to the Mac blush she showed? Maybe? (Sorry I'm at work and don't have it for reference currently lol)

      Naomi Lasby I think the Lunar New Year (vivid flush) is a little more pink. I am interested in comparing the two when it comes in.

    Now that's the kind of thing we're trying to get out of..why would you as a brand cater to one or a certain range of tone when you can include all different tone (cause that's how the world is made up) and in light of that..you(the brand)benefits from the sales and profits. If your shit is good now and you're genuine..everyone will be happy and will also look forward to whatever your next release is so I agree with you. If those same people shades were left out of a brand that they were interested in..they wouldn't be talking all that nonsense. They need to go sit down somewhere and let you do your tutorials your way..keep doing what you're doing

    Thank you for bringing up
    Inclusivity in shade ranges. It is rather frustrating to hear “everyone” in the beauty community raving about a brand and knowing that not one thing in the line was made with your skin tone in mind. At best you would have to find a way to somehow make it work.

    • @CharlotteHoldcroft

    Also gotta quickly say - I guess I must be really naive because I had no clue that anyone in this day and age would disagree that makeup and skincare should strive to be more inclusive. I definitely hope to live in a world some day where inclusivity is just a given❤️❤️❤️

    Total respect for you Charlotte.
    Imo, brands most definitely should be catering for ALL skin tones, it's a disgrace that some don't. I'm very fortunate in that I can obtain all my needs at any given time, without any fuss.
    Those people who bleat on about you mentioning the lack of inclusive makeup, ought to try to imagine the frustration of others who are struggling to find makeup in shades that compliment their skin colour/tone.
    Hourglass has always irked me on this issue. They (and a few others) are behaving like dinosaurs. So, it's "about time" they reacted to their customers. Am I cheering them for creating this blusher? Hell no! The whole line needs dragging into the 21st century.
    I bow to the siss who stands her ground, 👍👍👍💞💖💞💖💞
