No the vertidrain system is mainly going thatbdeep for compaction because the way tines work and go....it's like a pitch fork, the tits in the movement pull up on the green slightly before coming back out. Sure it helps with water, fresh oxygen etc etc just like other aeration but you really should aerate by pulling plugs early in the year, than verti-drain....the roots should also grow 10 to 12 inches deep from this so keeping the roots nice and deep is key for handling hot summer months
