Hey Chuck and Paige and Mom kara and Thai Girl Gift and Foreigner Joe, great video. I have thought about getting a tattoo but I just haven't pulled the trigger on that one yet. At 75 do I want to get one but why not. Your Mom is looking real happy and her place is really looking great. That green color is very appealing. I think in the long run she is going to be very happy.
Good luck on your trip to the island and have a great time.

For example I was looking for something to hang stuff on concrete walls and did find something but the today I was was looking for something else and they told me where it was and there was the stuff I wanted in the first place. Go figure.

Language learning takes time. Simple as that. Children take about eleven years to learn to express and understand high level conversation. That's what a childhood education professional told me anyway. I asked, she answered, and that's what I'm going with. Eleven years.
Along comes the expats and they make a half-assed effort in a three month class then throw their hands up in frustration. Too old, too hard, I don't have time, etc. Bunch of BS. If you're planning on retiring somewhere that you don't speak the language and *not* planning to learn that language--that's a bad plan. We as adults have more tools at our disposal for learning, so I think it can be done in less than eleven years, but be honest. Most expats don't really put in the work. Try harder. Try longer. Don't expect fast.

For me, as not native English speaker, I honestly don't understand someone at first if he speaks English to me when I don't expect to be talked in English to.
So maybe that's the same with the Thais here, they usually don't expect the foreigners to talk in Thai to them so they don't understand in first.
Or maybe not, what do I know😅
Nice video, always interested to follow your journey. Greetings from Nakhon Phanom.

Chuck Rather than just charging your mom's scooter from solar, something to consider might be a solar Inverter/AC solar system that could be used for charging and saving money on AC. From a friend in Vegas:
Solar Powered Air Conditioner Discussion for Gridtie or Offgrid Systems Will Prose
    ua-cam.com/video/LAJid7ngk_k/v-deo.html
Also adding a plug to run an ac inverter off your mom's scooter if the power goes out might be an option.
