I would say that sounds about right. Maybe a little more than 6 per day. It's not as busy as La Grange, KY. The north-south line is busier than the east-west line. There's a signal at the south end of Hickory Street that turns green about 5 to 10 minutes before southbounds come through town. Having that signal right at the end of Hickory Street is nice because it gives you enough time to get set up when a southbound is coming.
David Lauback this line sees around 10-12 trains on a good day, I live on the line and know it very well. Your usual traffic will be, NS 12Q, NS 13Q, NS 143, NS 142, NS 19K, NS 18K, NS 200, NS I00 (Extras for NS 200) NS 60C, NS 61C (both are as needed), NS 174, NS 177, and a few other “as needed trains”
Thanks for all the info! It's nice to have someone who knows the line really well! The next time I visit I'll definitely reference that list of trains.
I would imagine that the second train was not a regularly scheduled train, but was just being used to deliver those new F125 Metrolink locomotives on the day I visited.
OHH the nights I spent in that town in a Sperry car on the connecting track next to were the Red K-LINE container is sitting at. Very nice video!
Great video
Awesome! Do they still run about six trains a day?

David Lauback hey no problem at all
when i was younger i lived less than a mile away from these tracks
The first train was NS 60C, the second I’m not sure. Nice video.
Oh and for future reference, this is NS’s EX PRR Marion Branch

David Lauback yes, the second train is under the “as needed” category. It only makes runs when needed.
The Marion Branch is ex-NYC. The other track we see here in this video (which the trains are crossing) is ex-PRR.
Pretty fast for a street runner
