      Agreed, GOOD graffiti looks better. Tagging and bad graffiti looks worse than a plain wall imho
      When I was a youth worker we paid the local young graffiti artists to paint the walls of the youth club, looked way better than the boring plain wall

    I used to live in an apartment above the parking lot, a magnet for graffiti. Also for men peeing on the wall. The landlord painted it with a special paint coating that repelled moister, and didnt allow paint to stick. It just ran off . Hilariously, it also sprayed the pee right back on the person peeing on the wall! So funny .

    I've never understood why building contractors or estates maintenance scrimp on protection.
    If its a publically accessed area, just get a coating on the brickwork.
    It saves a small fortune in the long run!
    I did the side of my mates house once, that faced an alley, as he was constantly getting graffiti.
    Once it was done and dried, quick 2 minute blast with a pressure washer when he was cleaning once a month kept it pristine!

    That IBIX really did the job. Now for the golden question...how long did that take you in real time? While it erased the grafitti pretty well in the video, I am guessing that it took quite a bit of time as there wasn't a wide spray, therefore you were doing individual bricks. Great job, Nick. 👍🏼👍🏼 Another stellar job. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thanks for sharing. ❤

      Of COUSE it will be tagged again! All that was done was to create a fresh canvas for tagging.

    • @huskytail
      @huskytail 11 місяців тому

      @@SeattlePioneer colourful sprays are not difficult to find. These graffiti were made with green and red and both would have been visible on black wall. The only protection is anti-graffiti coating and cleaning 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • @SeattlePioneer
      @SeattlePioneer 11 місяців тому

      Cleaning is providing a fresh canvas for taggers.
      I suspect that a colorful BLACK would be FAR less of an invitation to taggers than a cleaned wall.
      Worth a try, I suggest. And fresh coats of black paint covering any repeated tagging should be discouraging for taggers and easy to apply to cover up tagging.
      But I have no experience with how effective anti tagging paints might be.
      Perhaps we can agree that simply cleaning a surface, as illustrated in the video, is an invitation for repeated tagging.

    Hey Sir Nick. Here in Montreal, I live above a tunnel that leads downhill towards a Metro Station at the bottom. It is a one lane down run with a walk path to one side. Our kids tag the entire length of the walls on both the walk side as well as the car lane opposite wall. Then they have tagged all the pillars as high as they can reach at the bottom of the tunnel that holds up the elevated highway above. They stopped steam cleaning the walls a long time ago. Because every time they clean it, the tags appear almost overnight. So now they just let the taggers run amok, then come back and paint over the tagging, they don't even attempt to clean it because there are so many layers of spray paint on the walls. // Now we will see just how fast the taggers return to tag that wall again. Maybe they should not wait to treat that wall, yes??

    Given that the brick is so porous, is there a chance that the air might blast/push the paint further into the brick? You did a great job...just wondering. Thanks.

    Nick, which blasting media were you using to lift that paint off? It seems to be a low dust outcome.

    I wonder if this method would work here:
    Many years ago I read a lengthy article about using light as a cleaner. It would flash a powerful beam of light at a wall where it would disintegrate a 1/1000th of an inch (25 microns) of the surface. Designed to remove any grime (dust & mold) built up over time on stone buildings and statues. Before & after pics looked like it was power washed, but damaged the original stone a lot less. I don't remember what it was called.

    Eugene OR here. Graffiti on freeway soundwalls and bridges is typically PAINTED OVER around here. They are so fast to paint over it that I think it has probably discouraged the graffiti artists.

    That’s so cool. It looks like you’re spraying on paint rather than blasting it off.

    Great job! What is the commercial name of the product you recommend for the anti-graffiti coating? Thank you in advance.

    This work is worth thousands of dollars. It may have taken you a few hours, but it is the experience and investment in such equipment that warrants such a price. When no other solution is working, this is certain to get the job done. I agree with you about resistant coating. They should apply it and then simply wash off graffiti later.

    A grand job. Sometimes when I see graffiti, I wonder if someone is trying to advertise trouble or want to try to lure children into something stupid such as joining gangs. Only thing I could remember when I was about 6 or 7 years old, I at one time drew school buses on a wall near my classroom, and I did get in trouble for it. I got my wrist slapped with a ruler and I never drew on the wall ever again.
