Carnatic notes, EDM, and western Violin create a fusion of harmony
The M.S.Subbulakshmi classic, Rangapuravihara, Muthuswamy Dikshitar’s Kriti in raga Brindavana Saranga, talam Rupakam, presented here in a new age arrangement. Electronic music creates an effect of speed, while the Kriti is sung in the traditional slow pace. The music starts with a simple synth melody; the vocalist then begins the Pallavi with mild violin harmonies in the background. The second vocalist joins in just after the Pallavi to deliver a catchy interlude of Swarams. The two vocalists go back and forth in the Anupallavi with a small violin solo in between. Then back to the Pallavi, and all the elements come together. The song ends on a high.
Team Shravan Kumar Ramani (Vocals), Vinod Krishnan (Vocals), Mayukha Kashyap (Violin), and Nagaari (Music Arrangement and Production) infused this well known Carnatic classical song with western classical elements through Violin harmonies and contemporary instrumentation to create Rangapuravihara 2.0.

Got tears to my eyes! My mother used to sing this Keerthana while cooking,, one of my fondest memories!🙏🙏🙏
Our youngsters of this generation keeping our Carnatic vocal music and tradition alive and that said ,i shoukd congrajulate your whole team . A neat and soulful rendition by both, immersing yourselves in the nectar called Carnatic music. This kriti is my all time favourite sung by our great mastero the late smt Subbulakshmi Amma.
Nagaari, Shravan, Mayukha and Vinod.... A big applause to you young and beautiful people. I couldn't control my emotions watching this video. 😭😭😭😘😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Harish shivarama Krishnan ...❤❤i like his voice
I just remember my grandfather reciting this masterpiece in the Kodhanda Rama Sannadhi in Srirangam Temple everytime I listen to this great work.
I'm just not able to stop crying listening to this..... Muttuswami Dikshitar would not even have dreamt that his legacy would be carried forward to this generation with a such beautiful rendition....
Alot of people on UA-cam sung this and M.s amma's is the real and the best version after listening to amma I really liked the song and the way it was composed but after that I listened to other singers who sang it and my ears were totally blown they sang tooo lound and the tune are so streched and damaged my ears as well as the original composition but Indian raga played it so well that it absolutely matches the original with a trandional touch. That's why indian raga is always trusted when it comes to 2nd gen carnatic music
2.0 EDM without Mahesh Raghavan is like curd rice without pickle.
It felt like mata M. S. S herself was watching their excellent performance from heaven and blessing them. Kudos to indian raga!
Journey of this song: It took us around 50 hours of remote collaboration spread over 5 months to build, record and master this track. We are a team of two classical vocalists (Shravan and Vinod) and 2 western musicians ( Mayukha and I) who worked together to experiment and build a unique rendition of this epic song. We travelled many miles to meet and record the video at the IndianRaga fellowship. And, 8 months later we finally have the video released.

This is really neat! I am working on studying and learning about Indian music in my world music graduate class. I came across this and love this! I wanted to use this for a hypothetical listening lesson plan for this class. It is neat how it incorporates Indian classical tradition as well as new-age music. Also, it is SUPER fun to listen to. I have been looking more into this music lately. Great work!
Please do a collaboration with Agam and Harish Shivaramakrishnan
What a way to take our rich traditional music to the youngsters!! I am sure many will want to learn classical after listening to your cool video and rendition. Thank you
No Words
Can't believe I missed this version all these months! Used to listen to shravan's music in sastra as a junior. He's the reason I started listening carnatic music again! And never fails to impress. And first time listening to vinod. Loved this combination. Wonderful musical instrument accompaniments!. Thanks! Ranga!
Absolutely amazing!! Words can hardly describe! 😌 this Carnatic makes my heart flutter. Indian Raga never disappoints with their music/performances!!!
