I just started using 3g glycine at night (I didnt know about taking salt). First two night, I haven’t felt any difference yet. Ill try it with salt tonight.
If I have salt at night it's impossible for me to sleep. Everytime I have salt at night I feel wired and overheat
Sorry about that I had to start it over to find out thanks
Glycine makes me sleepy so does Taurine, lysine
U didn't touch upon the effect of salt on mineralocorticoids w.r.t sleep.
Mastering sleep with Masterjohn! ;)
The salt is this salt tablets ?
*why does
*MUH MUH MUH MUH MASTER JOHN MASTER JOHN MASTER JOHN.*
Dr Masterjohn sometimes mentions that glycine can have the opposite effect. It can keep us awake. This happens to me. It’s extreme. I generally sleep okay but recently supplemented with glycine for a lark and barely slept for 3 days until I figured out what it was…
Does anyone understand why this may be? Why would/could it act as ‘an excitatory neurotransmitter’? Any specific mechanisms?

I Believe for some people (like me) if you have a hard time with the glutamate to GABA conversion this can be an issue. I have variants in my GAD genes which are responsible for making GAD enzyme (thought that is probably simplistic of the process) and cannot tolerate too much free glutamate, glycine, msg, aspartame.
@@chrismasterjohn Thank you!!!!
@@sarapanzarella97 Thank you for your interesting reply! Sounds like the GAD variants might cause the conversion problem? What are examples of symptoms/indicators of this issue if too much of the problem substrate is consumed? I know I used to consume a lot of aspartame and didn't notice any issues.
@Sara Panzarella Ive had the same issue for a couple of years where any Gaba precursor would give me paradoxical effects. I suspected that something was up with my GAD enzyme.
I started supplementing with Thiamine (100mg ed) a while back and it completely fixed this issue for me. Totally unexpected since i was supplementing b1 for other reason.
You can search online, there's a couple of papers that talk about the relation between Thiamine deficiency and the GAD enzyme like this one.

Regarding glycine and collagen, is glycine alone enough for collagen production? I have read some studies showing that supplementing with only glycine provides same benefits as supplementing with collagen. Is that true? Thank you, Chris 💪🙏
I want thank you Chris...first...for ALL your very deep and interesting Videos!! For this Video Topic here...i am a bit surprised that the Man dont ask the question about the best Ratio of which this Salt/Glycin can work. I personally use daily...in the late evening around 10 -20 Gramm Glycin Powder...and get nearly good sleep....just the pee Problem for me at Night is most the Problem. Perhaps i can fix it with Salt together.....Anyway....No surprise that i have a bit problems with my OMAD Nutrion...in the evening....(Yes..i know...not allways the best Time to eat....but i work on this : ): Thanks for any Ideas about the possible Salt intake...(speciall with a Low Carb vegan Diet...i would need more Salt as others i think.) Thanks again for all your Work....from Andreas in France(Alsace).

if I'm not mistaken glycine also stimulates AVP hormone just like salt.
How much glycine and how much salt do you take?
glycine activate glycine-gated chloride channels. Does this play any role in sleep? I think increasing salt will increase the chloride channels?
On the first question, yes. On the second, you will have dysfunction if you don’t have enough salt, but you aren’t going to get a drug-like activation by providing more salt than you need.
You should do one on "How does replenishing liver glycogen help sleep"
How much glycine is safe and effective?
