Mostly filmed near Zabriskie Point, Death Valley, CA. Mariner 4, the probe that gave us our first black and white pictures of Mars, was still months away from reaching Mars when this film was released. The restored Criterion version of this movie, with its extras (interviews and still shots, behind the scenes, etc) is the best version.
May 6, 2019---Thanks for the movie trailer for others to see. I have a copy of the entire movie on vhs back when AMC showed movies in their entirely WITHOUT commercials until the movie was ended.
Every possible catastrophic events in the universe that could happen through out the 14 billion years of the universe existence happen when an Earthman crash landed on Mars. It's a must watch for sure.
Me too!! I seldom could go movies but on Gov. Island 62-66 I got to see some and Robinson Crusoe and First Men were my first on the big screen!! Then Godzilla Vs. Mothra.Jerry Lewis(almost choked to death laughing..) others.
I remember watching this at the theater on a Saturday afternoon matinee. I was about 9, mom dropped off my brother and I . the theater would show double feature on the weekends until about 5 . this was about the early 70's. What memories I have.
Scientifically accurate when Mars is mostly freezing cold and the lack of atmospheric pressure would cause your eyeballs to bulge from their sockets. The part about Friday is accurate though. The aliens from Orion dropped him off to keep the earthmen company.
Love these old trailers!. Was watching this one again, it was YEARS since I last saw it. Adam West's stoney faced and humourless appearance is a million miles away from the camp Batman we all know him for!. It's a great film and even though it's a little out there, it was good to see one of these old fashioned movies and bad effects.
Scientifically accurate my left nut! ... Fantastic Planet just released a model of the MGP-1. Note the presence of Adam West, pre-Batman. Now I'll just go watch The Martian now.
"This film is scientifically accurate." *Features glowing, spherical space rocks, and a Mars depicted as a hot place with an Earth-like (albeit oxygen-poor) atmosphere.*
terminallunch 253 subscribers (At 2:41 to 2:48 ) Wait a Minute!!! I recognize those Alien spacecraft anywhere.......... Those are reused/repainted/modified versions of the ICONIC Martian War Machines from the classic 1953 Film "The War of The Worlds" (Still a really really great film to this very day).
Hmm those alien ships looked a lot like the ones in War of the World's, almost makes you think they reused some props from that movie, well at least recycling was in use back then. Shame Adam West's character wasn't the lead in this movie he could have used his 'Alien spaceship repellent Bat-Spray' to force those ships back. R.I.P Adam West Gotham's Bright Knight.
Probably modified the original moulds of the War machines, the original War machine props were melted down for their copper. Shame, props like that deserve to be in a museum.
Pellicola molto bella, certo nulla di eccezionale ma comunque piacevole, ci sono degli errori come il fatto che stranamente, la scimmia non ha bisogno di ossigeno, quindi molto bella e molto bella per me come valutazione è 7,5.
Compared to many other films about Space, this one still stands the test of time and is a milestone in the cosmos of films about science fiction(fiction!) .
THIS FILM IS SCIENTIFICALLY ACCURATE!!!
Meanwhile on the fire swamps of Mars
I loved this as a boy when scientific accuracy was not so important as its adventure and discovery.
One of the longest trailers I have ever seen! Actually saw the
movie as a kid in the 1960s.
What a wonderful movie! Feel like I am a little kid again!!!

Gotta Find This on DVD. This and Forbidden Planet as a Double Feature, My First Sci Fi on the Big Screen in 1964 when was 7 yrs. old.
Loved this movie as a kid!
Rest in peace Adam West
Watched it last night. This is the whole of the film condensed into 4 minutes!
I feel like I’ve seen the whole movie.
Holy authentic science fact, Batman !!!
*slap to the face*
Remember when the Curiosity rover burned up in the fire swamps of Mars? That was sad.
The announcer for this movie trailer is Art Gilmore..who was also the announcer on The Red Skelton Show/The Red Skelton Comedy Hour.
Magnificent trailer, a trailer that delivered on the suggestion that this was a very good concept, and followed thru with a very well done production.

You know what I think I'll get that on dvd for Christmas!
Me Too. (smile)
This and First Men In The Moon were my favourite movies to watch when I was young.

SAME BAT TIME! SAME BAT CHANNEL!

horror/thriller author sez: "2001" eat your heart out, this movie is SCIENTIFICALLY AUTHENTIC!
the alien ships are much like the ones in war of the worlds including the sound effects
They used to make movies worth watching!

The two films have the same director as well

Terrific early 60s B grade movie.
What!No Rat-bat-spiders?
That's a ways down the street.
They got so many things right like ice caps. Matt Damon's Mars would be richer take some cues from this movie. LOL!
OMG
No wonder the Martians wanted to invade Earth...

Elon Musk is watching this movie right now.
Lmfaoooo

Those pesky humanoids and their science "fact"!
Batman died too soon...
Really...? 🤣
