One of the neat, tragic bits of writing are that the Schnees are following the 4 response of abuse: Willow (the Mom) is Freeze, Winter is Flight, Weiss is Fight, and Whitley is Fawn.
Blake was the first to comfort Weiss when Jacques was guilt tripping her because she knew exactly what he was doing, she's seen Adam do the same to her.
2:12:33 oh yeah, this is actually a known, specific, repeated pattern with narcissist parents - the youngest sibling grows up seeing the older siblings failing to live up to the parent's impossible standards and getting torn down, and they become hyper-obedient to avoid the same. The parent then leans into this, building them up as a golden child they can use against the other siblings ("why can't you be more like your brother?" etc). The older siblings stop interacting with the younger because now they're a just another avenue of attack who can't be trusted, the younger sibling loses the potential support of their fellow victims and becomes entirely reliant on the parent as their only source of stability.
Either way it’s hypocritical and is directly the reason things go the way they did. The thing that makes Ironwood’s paranoia go crazy is the fact that that he keeps being lied to. Atlas never falls if ruby, Qrow, Oscar, or anyone else tells the truth from the jump
Nah, I don't think Ironwood would have taken Jinn's reveal any better than Qrow did, even if it happened earlier. Ironwood had his priorities wrong the entire time: diverting resources from Mantle unnecessarily, completely failing to patch security systems in Mantle that he _knew_ were already compromised, and in general completely disregarding Mantle and alienating its citizens. Telling him sooner would have just accelerated his fall.
@@Mirality Even if it didn't accelerate him, he was already the type to "slowly slip into evil" before this point. Taking command from Ozpin via the council in V2, closing off Atlas in V4; he is a man who goes for extreme measures, because he believes force and direct action solves problems (even when others point out it can do the opposite). And he will not stop to see through what he believes is right. ^Telling him wouldn't have stopped his fall, it would've just given him more fuel for whatever inevitably pushed him past the tipping point. Believing otherwise is mostly just wishful thinking, at least imo.
I think it's more like she wasn't sure if she could trust his reaction; remembered when people knew about Salem, Lionheart betrayed Oz, Qrow became drunk and useless, RWBYJNRO even wanted to give up. And Ironwood isn't in his right state of mind and has an entire military and Huntmen of Atlas under his command, there's no telling what could happened
I am pretty sure it's a style thing for the moment and just knowing is just causing Ruby to get a trigger of intense emotion and her Eyes to act up, also that was a Grimm presence which is having them respond but she tries to control them.
Y’all, pause and read that report from Tyrian’s criminal record. The backstory is HARROWING and actually shows how Salem recruited him! And why he’s so fanatically loyal to her.
You know you (Salem) did a good job when your enemies (Team RWBY and Team Ironwood), who LITERALLY KNOW that your whole plan is to make humanity fight amongst themself, start fighting each other despite knowing you are on the way...
@@Titanfell-d3ifacts. Now we have toxic people talking about the show and a loyal fan base at each others throats. Let’s Ho-e the anime gods don’t rule against us
@@dragonsvideos6737 Both fans and haters are toxic. Know from my own experience before I changed my opinion on it several times. Both also can be non-toxic as well. It depends
I believe when RWBY was originally planned out they were looking at between 9 to 14 seasons depending on pacing, volume lengths and side stories, and at this point I would think it was heading towards 12 seasons as season 10 would be a bit packed to answer and close off the various beats laid out throughout the series. Let's hope Viz are signing off on a decent stretch so they can tell the whole story without having to rush the ending.
Twelve seasons would make for the best pacing given what we've gotten so far. They've been rather consistent after 3. Two seasons in Mistral; one season getting to Atlas. Two seasons in Atlas; one season getting to Vacuo. If they continued, I assume they would do two seasons in Vacuo followed by the finale season and the return to Vale.
@@matthewmurdock1897 considering they kept one of the main writers and co-creators as well as the voice cast i doubt they are remaking the show from scratch... the already did that with rwby icequeendom and... it wasn't that great lol
I feel like it might even be 15, because I’m anticipating a return to Vale. The Beacon Arc, then Mistral, then Atlas and the Ever After - assuming there are three arcs in/about Vacuo, RWBY would last 12 Volumes. But I feel like reclaiming what was lost and rebuilding would probably also be part of the story, because RWBY is all about the younger generations making a better world than the one they were handed.
My headcanon on Qrow's new voice is that this is just what he sounds like sober. Maria continues to be my favorite; go camp old people! (Pietro can stay too.) Welcome to the Amer--I mean, Atlas arc. We have Cenozoic and Jurassic Grimm!
Semi-fun fact, the mine they fight the Geist in is the one that Ilia’s parents died in during the accident that got it shut down. Hence why Blake was so uncomfortable when she realised what it was.
The point of this volume it that there are no truly right choices, but rather choices that you think are best in the moment. You aren't supposed to fully agree or disagree with team Ironwood or team RWBY, but understand why each side has chosen their path. If you gather 100 random people right now and put them in a high stress environment, the chances of them all agreeing on a choice together is extremely slim. This is exactly Salem's plan, she keeps forcing high stress situations because she knows humanity is easily fractured when they are forced to make these hard choices. You can talk about your plans all day long, but at some point you are forced to make a choice, and when you do you have to commit to it. That is exactly what team RWBY and Ironwood did here. And now whatever happens happens.
To that end, Ironwood is clearly thinking like a general; he showed first hand that no perfect plan survives first contact (see the amity tower as global communications network reboot) and, when hard pressed by lack of allies (Vacuo is disorganized by its nature, Vale is in ruins, Mistral lost all it's qualified huntsman prior to season 5) chooses the option of harm minimization - save what resources you can guarantee and abandon the rest. 20th century history shows this to be a common strategy for militaries to avoid overcommitment to lost battles (see Dunkirk, evacuation of Philippines, Stalin line etc). Ruby by is thinking in exactly the way she has throughout the show. Her honesty has always been couched by her questioning the judgement of others and seeing protecting people to be the highest importance even if it means going behind the backs of authority (season 2 and 3 digging around while avoiding Ozpin). Yang even put it crudely when she yelled "But we're huntsmen and huntresses" - they don't need to look at the bigger picture for strategy because lives are at stake and that's what's most important rather than a cynical "we're saving who we can". Both of these characters are acting true to form and in a way that both necessarily puts them in conflict without demonizing either side beyond intentional music placement (which makes sense bc obviously RWBY are the POV) Call me utilitarian but I sympathize more with Ironwood at this stage (not looking to season 8) because ignoring RWBYs main character track record, Torchwick's old remark holds firm "you wanna be the hero? Then go ahead and die like every other huntsman and huntress in history!" They had tried to hold Mantle and already took a hammering doing so, what chances did they have signing up for round two with Salem at their heels?
So glad that sean immediately climbed onto the clover/qrow train Edit: not going to delete this because Sean actually replied and that's cool but y'all in the replies have to fucking CHILL, my god. There's a mix of homophobia, fanaticism, creator hate, and generally everything wrong with fandom all because of one silly comment down there. What the actual fuck
All of the characters use dust, the guns fire dust cartridges, not bullets. Usually a generic 'energy propellant' while they can get other fancier results using specialized bullets (As we've seen with Blake firing fire and ice bullets during her fight with Ilia) or combine the dust with their semblance (Like Blake did with fighting Torchwick on the train, and the Fennic brothers when she iced them into a statue)

"Neo's not that strong" She's won every fight she's had so far except Cinder, and she was beating Cinder until Cinder pulled out the maiden powers. She's plenty strong lol
Neo relies very heavily on exploiting her illusions, small size and a mixture of wearing people down and surprise. She's certainly quite dangerous and competent but the FNDM also wanked her out.
Neo isn't strong though; she's incredibly skilled. None of her attacks have all that much power behind them. She just wears you out with light attacks until the killing blow can be delivered.
Ok so to be clear: Qrow targets Tyrian Clover targets Qrow because "orders" even when Qrow's targetting Tyrian Qrow knows he cannot beat both at once. Clover thinks he can, seemingly. Qrow's apparent gambit: Get Clover out of the fight for now, deal with Tyrian, maybe talk Clover out of it Clover somehow manages to disable Tyrian. Qrow takes this chance to try deal with Clover and *maybe* get him to stop being an idiot. This gambit fails; Tyrian wasn't as down as either thought.
Also Tyrian was manipulating Qrow as well, Tyrian knew Qrow had a vendetta against him from their last fight when Qrow said "get in line", and when he pushed the idea of teaming Clover he did it saying "lets settle our score". Which of course was all just bait to give him an edge becuase he ran, and the vendetta Qrow had against him meant nothing to Tyrian.
Clover: Tries to bring in Qrow peacefully Qrow: Tries to deescalate and say that they should wait until arriving to Atlas Robyn: Threatens Clover Clover: Tries to deescalate Robyn: Assaults Clover, gets thrown to the ground Qrow who wanted to go back to Atlas a second ago: Attacks Clover after he defended himself Clover: I wish it wouldn't have come to this. Qrow: It doesn't have to! ????????
@@Titanfell-d3i Following James' orders is the most insane option here, Idk why you're framing it like this is the result of everyone BUT Clover being an idiot. Clover could have chosen to not arrest Qrow and prevent this, instead he decided to go through with it when the overall plan was clearly stated to abandon Mantle to Salem (which is understandably something Robyn wouldn't think lightly of) Then Clover makes the genius choice to continue fighting Qrow instead of recapturing the actual escaped murderer because "orders" and ends up exactly where that blind loyalty gets him.
@@VegaSlides I'm not saying Clover isn't an idiot, but Qrow is far bigger idiot here because he says one thing(he was fine with going with Clover) then attacks Clover first. That leads to prolonged fight with Tyrian escaping Frankly speaking teaming up with Tyrian is most insane option here simply because he could've easily murdered Qrow. There's even a moment when Tyrian uses his tail to push Qrow towards Clover. In that moment Tyrian could've stabbed him in the back, poisoning Qrow or killing him while Tyrian takes Clover on 1 vs 1. 2:19:15 That "King" is Nicholas Schnee. ( Who is based Santa / Saint Nick ) He is Weiss' Grandfather and biggest inspiration. The Arma Gigas she summons uses his armor. Which is REALLY messed up when you remember the Arma Gigas fight was set up by Jacques as Weiss' test to LEAVE the house. Jacques made his daughter fight a symbol of her Grandfather in an 'unwinable' fight. Reminder a Geist Grimm was the same creature that took all of RNJR to beat in the opening of Volume 4. Weiss beat that same Grimm type ( with 0 visible weak point ) on her own.
1:28:00 Raven ditched Ozpin, then found the Spring Maiden, then killed her to gain her powers. Fall Maiden was living her life freely, until she was attacked by Cinder, and was on life support while comatose with Ozpin. Winter Maiden is about to die of old, so is in a hospital.
Exactly. And, their idea that men should be able to attend to the Winter Maiden is a big error. Clearly they don't remember what Ozpin said when he introduced Pyrrha to the Maiden history. With the Winter Maiden having dementia and not being able to hold a memory for long, if she remembered only the last person to see her, and it was a man, then the powers would go to someone random and not to a person that they know and can trust. That random person would be a big target if Salem found out about them. And, having suddenly gained immense powers out of the blue, it would be hard to keep it hidden who had them. Cinder would be there in a heartbeat to steal them. Course, we still don't know if, even with her grimm arm, she can actually hold more than 1 Maiden Power at a time. This was an experiment by Salem, after all. So there's no guarantee. She might be able to start draining the powers, as we've seen, but who's to say that she'd be able to keep them, or that her body could handle that much power held in it. We also don't know if that grimm arm transfers the soul with the powers, causing her to have to suppress it, or if it just transfers the powers themselves. After all, Ironwood was going to transfer the soul to Pyrrha so that she could gain the powers. For all we know, the grimm arm works the same way. Which would make trying to cram another soul into one body a huge strain on that body.
2:12:07 still one of my favourite lines of RWBY. I like how you all even acknowledge it too because it's facts. Yeah, Whitley's fucking annoying up until this point, but Willow's words are meant to open both Weiss' AND the audience's eyes for those who weren't thinking about it. The youngest, the only boy, the only child home... and he had to grow up with Willow and Jacque Schnee.
1:50:21 I still so wish that Blake had answered "I knew a group once that started saying that... didn't end well for them" It would have fit so perfectly 2:55:28 Many complained about what happened to Ironwoods Character but without going into spoilers, he showed so many signs like this, even as early as V2. Even his semblance is a dead giveaway tbh, going his way to the bitter end, no matter the consequences. 3:08:40 BEST fight in the entire series imo!
I've always loved Ruby's choice to withhold information from Ironwood. In fact, it's one of the reasons V7 is my favorite. In my opinion, an ironic tragedy where both sides *could* have done the right thing is far more compelling than a story where the heroes never make mistakes and are always on the side of moral righteousness. Tired of people portraying Ruby's decision to lie as a storytelling flaw when it's just something they subjectively disagree with; she did the best she could with the information she had. Besides, heroes making mistakes just makes them human - and when they don't, that's how you get a Mary Sue Also if people could stop claiming they know what choices fictitious characters written by someone else would've made under different circumstances based on their subjective reading of the story, that'd be great, thanks
I agree that I like the moral ambiguity of it and the season as a whole, which is also my favorite season of the series. But her decision to withhold that information was in no way incorrect, at least not in a strict black and white sense. By the time they got to Atlus, there was never going to be a point where Ironwood would have taken that news well.
@@zankudragon Never insinuated that it was; just said she did the best she could with the information she had, and it just so happens to have been the right words at the wrong time to the wrong person
As far as the Ice Queendom anime for RWBY goes, I'd definitely recommend it. It's set as kind of a "what if" type storyline in volume 1, and was made by another studio as a tribute to RWBY itself. I've heard it doesn't land as well with new fans, it's more for people already familiar with RWBY, but it's a good watch. Quality is good, story is good, soundtrack is great, and it essentially shows what certain characters would've ended up like if they hadn't joined up with team rwby. That's all I'll say to avoid spoilers, but if y'all wanna watch it, I for one would be down to see it here :)
ngl I am one of those that the Anime hasn't landed with, I don't think there's anyuthing bad about It the writing for me is just too iffy, for me personally But to each their own of course
I'd definitely be down for a re-watch of Ice Queendom....the Blu-Ray is out there so you guys can watch it dubbed or subbed. They've been dubbing all the RWBY volumes in Japan (well, thru vol.8 so far) and utilized their original cast for Ice Queendom too.
I love how everone missed that they did tell us how to beat Salem in volume 6, Its just that people miss that sometimes the pen is mightier than the sword. Here is a hint, Remeber what the Gods said her actual punishment was when they figured out that salem pulled the old "If mom says no ill ask dad" move.
@ No haha, but it’s going to be a lot like the end of the Disney movie Raya and the Last Dragon. Where it’s the villain who will ultimately end up giving the protagonist’s their dubb. Remember the gods said that Salem must learn a lesson, and she hasn’t learned it yet.
@@joshuaannis7718 Ha! Call Accelerator to come pause the world's rotation for a fraction of a second to power his vectors like when he threw a building, and she just turns to dust?
Marrow’s conversation with Blake , asking her to check if the area was clear, was very good setup for the fact he’s the rare Faunus WITHOUT night vision…since it became pretty important when Tyrian attacked Robyn’s election party.
Honestly the show doesn't show us fanus having night vision like at all. Blake couldn't see illia in their fight when she turned out the lights and ended up setting her own house on fire.
@ I mean, we see through Blake’s eyes that she CAN make out MOST things in total darkness - furniture, floor, balconies - she just can’t easily make out Ilia’s completely black silhouette against an all-black background. And she did need to be able to QUICKLY see Ilia in a fight, since Ilia could still see Blake.
HERO (Ironwood's song) is a banger hit by Caleb Hyles; but if you listen to the lyrics it also reveals his tragic character flaws that will be his undoing.
3:42:00 On February 1st, will be the 10th anniversary of Monty Oum's passing, 5th since the V7 finale was released. Even if people like me, found about RWBY after Monty was gone, I can really say that all whom have enjoyed the series for all this time can appreciate the work he made along with such amazing people. People who loves this amazing adventure, that keep moving forward after all this time. For the Sorta Stupid Team, thank you so much guys for keep bringing us this.
So fun fact about the four Schnees aside from Jacques, they all embody a common response to abuse. Willow (The Mom) is Freeze, Winter is Flight, Weiss is Fight, and Whitley is Fawn.
1:28:35 Yes its messed up, but its also partially because she is so old. She could pass at anytime, so its important to keep Winter in her thoughts. Not saying its right. Also, we know that Amber(Ozpin's fall maden) was out and about on horseback before she was hunted down and attacked by Cinder and her crew. I don't think Ozpin kept her locked away untill she was injured, and part of her power stolen.
It also shows that James values Fria He could've just ordered to kill her and Fria would have complied since she was so loyal but she wanted more time and Ironwood accommodated for her to be as comfortable as she could be until the very end. It wasn't ideal however under the circumstances it was the best that could be done
@@GamerGrovyle gonna at least wait till I see the members only volume 8 is out before I comment on that stuff. I want them to be able to form their own opinions before I talk about that, but believe me, I've got things to say.
@@Titanfell-d3i It would also set a bad precedent anyways, making it difficult to rely on the new maiden if he just kills them when they're old. "Will I become disposable, too? If I become too injured to fight one day will I get put down for the next maiden?" etc.
8:51 yes and no. That was when it happened, but Cinder wasn't stealing codes but implanting a virus made by Watts (a genius and used to be one of their own working for Atlas). The grimm of Atlas are based mostly on extinct animals. There are saber tooth tigers, the elephants are wooly mammoths, and the flying ones are a mix of raptor and pterodactyl. 13:23 Penny always had laser power, she used it to shoot down air ships in her first fight in the Volume 1 finale. The rocket feet are new though. 17:42 your reaction to Jaune's haircut is funny because when they first revealed the new designs in the lead up to the season premiere a lot of people did not like it, at least at first. 28:45 technically speaking Ruby didn't lie. She said that was what Ozpin told them which it was. Could potentially be called a lie by omission but she truthfully told Ironwood what Ozpin told them about the lamp. And Ironwood confirmed that was what Ozpin had told him too. 34:54 The tournament and the fall of Beacon were all Volume 3. That's also when we first learned about the maidens, had the death of Penny and Pyrrha, the loss of Yang's arm, and the loss of Ozpin. And that was the last time we saw Amity Colosseum until this season. And at the very end the reveal of Salem. Volume 2 had the discovery that Penny was a robot, the mech fight with Torchwick, introduction of Ironwood and Neo, Cinder's infiltration that you mentioned, the dance, and the train fight to the city to end the volume. 39:13 RNJR fought a geist in the beginning of Volume 4, but this one seems stronger. The giant rock grimm. 43:52 the one he got from his father that we first saw in the flashback. 44:20 this was when Ilia's parents died. That's why Blake had that reaction. 46:39 that's Marrow's semblance, and appropriate with him being a dog faunus. 1:08:51 pretty much everyone's bullets have some dust in them as does Nora's grenades. And Ruby specifically sometimes uses bullets with specific dust for specific properties. And Blake has also paired dust with her semblance to create more solid clones (ice clones, rock clones, explosive fire clones). 1:16:44 after what happened last volume he probably realized it was harming more than helping. 1:28:10 the Fall maiden Amber had been allowed free reign to go where ever and interact with anyone, but after she was attacked she was in a coma and that pod was the only thing keeping her alive. Also the reason why they don't want any men to be interacting with the winter maiden is because if the last person on her mind isn't able to get the powers (a guy or an elderly woman; an old woman can have the powers if she lives a long time but she can't inherit them) then the powers go to someone random. 1:38:47 we had been waiting since at least Volume 2 for that, some since Volume 1. 1:40:02 So it's still hard to catch but we finally get probably the best view of what Tyrian's semblance is here. He can disrupt a person's aura making them vulnerable to attacks that would normally be blocked. 2:28:50 That was his semblance 2:34:30 The mission no one else wanted taught/improved his skills at organizing people together. 2:44:00 From what I've heard and the way things have worked so far I believe 12 Volumes was the plan originally, 3 per kingdom. But with the way things are now who knows what the plan is. 2:44:49 From what I've heard they were looking for a buyer who would allow them to continue and finish the show and not just capitalize on what currently exists. 2:50:05 Yup. Chris Sabat does both Vegeta and Watts. 2:50:42 All the counting down numbers Watts was saying throughout the fight, he was counting his shots, keeping track of how many he had left. 3:18:47 As soon as Clover's aura is drained the good fortune is gone all and that's left is Qrow's misfortune. 3:41:54 "I don't think there ever has been"...this is the first season where there wasn't a post credits scene. What Oscar did wasn't his semblance. He said "these powers" implying it was Ozpin's magic starting to come through. So something that isn't really stated in the show itself but becomes somewhat important to understand next volume is Ironwood's semblance. It's called Mettle and it is described as strengthening his resolve to follow through on all his decisions and hyper focus on his choices and suppress any doubts about those choices. Also the entirety of Volume 8 takes place over 2 days.
Somethings that always like about Oscar is that if you put atention to Oscar you can see how he slowly beggins to move more and more like Ozpin you can notice on the way he speak, how he moves when he walks and the way that he used him staff and this gonna be ore obviuos in thenext season.
I love seeing Jaune's improvement in that short fight scene in chapter 1. It's subtle because his fighting style is far less flashy and mobile than all the others' but Jaune, on his own with no help, just killed two of those Sabyr Grimm in 3 seconds like they were made of paper. A far, faaar cry from Vol 1-3 Jaune :)
So 1:09:13 no, dust is super common we actually even see our teams use dust a ton thru the series e.g. Blake using dust clones against Torchwick in volume 2, Ruby using lightning and fire dust in volume 4, Hazel with his dust direct injections so on and so forth. Weiss is the one who uses the most dust though as she was heiress to the SDC so she had much more access to is though dust itself is sold very openly and in high quantities which is why Torchwick ran around stealing from dust shops all thru volumes 1 and 2.
1:28:30 the Fall Maiden was allowed to be free before, that is how she was attacked in the first place. She was traveling along and was attacked by Cinder. After the attack, she was in a coma and was kept isolated to protect her from attach again. Presumably, the Winter Maiden also had her own life and is only isolated now as she is nearing her death.

Season 6 is amazing, this one sets up everything for the next 2 seasons but season 8 had for too be my favorite season for so many reasons. Can't wait to see you guys react to it
2:12:13 to me, something I always think about with Whitley is just that…Winter had Willow to care for her, because their mom didn’t check out until she was like 16-17 and either out of the house or about to leave. And Weiss had Winter, who may not have been a great emotional but still protected her from Jacques and trained her to be a Huntress. But Whitley? Unlike his older sisters, he didn’t have anyone else. He didn’t have a mother or older sister to look out for him. From when he was…6? 7? He only had Jacques. And he didn’t have a way out. Of course he relentlessly kissed up to his father. What alternative did he have?
This is being a fun journey rewatching RWBY all over again with you guys! I started watching the channel justfor this series but I'm enjoying the rest of your reactions, keep it up!
For context of Volume 7 AND Volume 8, Ironwood's semblance "Mettle" lets him block out any double guessing in his mind and stay steadfast on a decision. Its never addressed in the show proper, but it is incredibly important to understand why Ironwood becomes so deadset on his plans
Sadly I don't think it's ever explained in the series, but the reason Ren follows Ironwood so much is because he's reminded of his father + he feels like they have very little control/power to do anything and falls in line to the strongest person he sees It's really sad and I know a few fans don't really like it but I think it makes Ren so interesting! He's had his simple life taken away from him so young, it's normal to follow orders as a trauma response
Keep in mind that Ozpin, and therefore Oscar, has *more* than just his semblance. He has magic. I won't spoil the significance of their cane, but just bare in mind that you are correct. With Oscar's aura broken, even *if* he knew what his semblance was, he wouldn't usually be able to use it.

You guys should have a look at all the World of Remnant videos. Not only do they fill in a lot of exposition gaps, they're good examples of continuing to try alternative animation styles and story techniques. Both WoR and RWBY-Chibi balance the RWBY experience.
Oh, yeah, all your pondering about RWBY members using dust would've been answered long ago if you'd seen WoR. On the other hand, a lot of creative solutions arise from not having your perception (mis?) directed towards what CRWBY says, either.
One thing that if I remember correctly is never told in the show, but Ironwoods semblence is "Mettle" which makes him easily go through with ANY kind of act without hesitation or doubt
@@Titanfell-d3i I suppose It can be used to create confidence but other than that yeah ngl that's just a very inpractical power, Y'know unless You are some sort of a villan or something LOL
volume 3 is still my favorite because it was the first time the show showed that "no one was safe" as it killed a semi main character off... that being said they haven't done that since so....
This volume had everything. Comedy, drama, awesome music, beautiful animation, badass fight scenes (some of the best of the entire series in my opinion), so many emotions, and one of the best cliff hanger endings.
2:13:26 the kid going “hey mom, it’s snowing!” Is cute for two seconds because he’s so excited, and then it immediately switches to the horrifying reality that wait, Mantle is literally in the tundra where people will freeze to death.
After volume 7 came out, RoosterTeeth released merchandise that was a pair of pins with Qrow and Clover’s emblems on them, and a bunch of fans got pissed and accused RoosterTeeth of queerbaiting.
The part that makes me sob the most, when Pietro shows how he gave Penny part of his soul to create her aura, it goes to show how much he truly IS her father, she's literally got a part of his soul 😭💜
There are some important factors to consider about the Ace-Ops vs RWBY fight Ironwood doesn't seem to send out his agents into the world; he keeps them close. I don't know what missions and training the Ace Ops had prior to become these operatives, but I dare say they probably didn't have the same range of various combat scenarios as RWBY and co. The Ace Ops probably relied on Clover's Good Fortune Semblance without realizing, and so what they chalk up as their skill was likely a massive part of him being around. They were partnered up because of their Semblances, not their team-work and it shows in the fight: Elm and Vine didn't work together like Blake and Yang, and Harriet was too focused on her "rival". Marrow's Semblance is crippling him if he doesn't have a partner due to only being able to focus on one direction, as well as the need to keep focusing so he can't use both hands. The Ace-Ops aren't bad or weak, but they aren't as elite as they think they are when they most likely have only ever dealt with small skirmishes and trying to pacify the people of Mantle.
1:35:02 MY FAVORITE CHARACTER! That girl is May Marigold, and YES. She is the cousin of Henry Marigold, the asshole who flirted with Weiss in Volume 4. She’s also RWBY’s first canonically transgender character, which had (non-bigoted) fans VERY excited.
The battles happened the way they w9uld have to logically, especially against Clover. With his Lucky Sembalance, fighting him 1v1 is a L waiting to happen. And Ace Ops were conflicted, but were following orders, same as Clover. Cause he didnt start that fight, he told Qrow what was up and Robyn kicked it off. It seems odd till you look at their actions.
And Robyn's choice to fight there was actually correct. Because that airship was the ONLY opportunity they had to not be arrested. If they waited to land, they would have immediately been arrested by the military, and then they wouldn't be able to fight their way out.
If the last thoughts of a maiden are of a male... the power goes to someone random. This was established in season 3 when the rules were being explained to Pyrrha.
IKR? Wild that they recorded this right before the election. I know it was paywalled for awhile, don't begrudge them that, gotta make that money. But I like these long RWBY binge sessions.
I feel like the Ace Ops intro fight works so well specifically because for all they’re showing off, we DO see their weaknesses. We see why Team RWBY will eventually be able to beat them, their blind spots and shortcomings. The headfirst approach that means they’re not careful of their surroundings. The over-reliance on semblances that means they’re constantly draining their auras as the fight goes on. And the constant expectation that Clover’s semblance, that a spot good luck, will save them from any mistakes.
They also greatly underestimate their opponents. Every member of Team RWBY has experience fighting elite warriors and coordinating their attacks while fighting for their lives, while the Ace-ops believe their opponents to be children throwing a tantrum that they can easily defeat.
The 'headfirst approach' wasn't the Ace Ops, though. That was Vine and Elm giving JNPR a backhanded compliment, because THEY were the ones to rush headlong into the mines, while Elm and Vine were in the process of utilizing their semblances to 'plant' themselves, presumably to approach the situation at least somewhat cautiously. So I feel that example doesn't really hold much water.
@@H34rtofFire I mean, they criticize JNR for it, but the fact is they do it even worse. They were immediately and violently attacking the Geist whose body contained a ton of explosives, meaning they kept breaking off crystals and having to catch them so they didn’t get blown up. Not to mention their approach was to use their own bodies to hold limbs of the Geist in place for Marrow or Harriet to sever. Elm and Vine were arguably the worst offenders, but like…look at Clover’s entrance. He was catching the explosive Dust crystal everyone else on the Acr Ops missed. Imagine if they hadn’t had a leader with magically lucky timing - they would’ve gotten everyone killed in minutes. It made them look impressive, but diving right in against the Geist like that was reckless.
In addition to this, RWBY has been fighting with the handicap of bad luck meaning they had to try harder for a similar result. Remove both of the luck affecting players from the board, and the skill difference becomes apparent.
@supergamer1388 You just blew up my mind with that Qrow's bad luck bit. The kids do get unlucky during V4-V6, A LOT. They fight in so much worse conditions already, but with bad luck constantly active, the kids are genuinely skilled to even survive.
God watching them react to this is amazing. This whole video felt like only one hour. RWBY is just the best show ever man, I am so excited to see their reactions to Vol 8! It's pure cinema.
28:50 so annoying how the team took so much offense at Ozpin withholding the truth, but they do the exact same thing to the others. "It's different when I do it" mentality.
The difference is that they're waiting to see how trustworthy he is actually being before telling him because they do, late of course because times called it but the way Ozpin acted in Vol.6 proved that he wasn't going to tell them the truth at all or any time soon
@Xiao_Long-T77 but the essential act remains the same. They are withholding information at their own discretion because [reasons]; Oz was also withholding information at his own discretion because [reasons]. My irritation is that they would be deeply offended at his choice, when his reasoning is literally no different from their own. "Out of an abundance of caution, guard the truth." Then as a lesser point: Team RWBY wasn't sure that the one they were guarding the truth from was indeed an ally; but Ozpin had valid reason to believe that the ones he shared the truth with would not 'remain' allies... in which case, his trust would be misplaced. If we consider how Raven quit after learning Salem was immortal, and how Qrow reacted (complete despair), and Lionheart -- and however many others -- why would Oz spread the secret to a bunch of children who would obviously spread the information further, drastically reducing the likelihood that the relics could be safeguarded while searching for a solution? Oz is trying to save the world against all odds, and the kids are wrapped up in feelings and "being owed the truth". They did Oz dirty, imo.
2:51:40 Ironwood's Semblance is "Iron Will". He will not stop. He is physically incapable of giving in or letting physical limitations stop him from completing his goals.
I thought it was 'Mettle' and it blocked out his emotions so that he was a person of pure logic. So when he decides on a plan of action, he uses Mettle to block out all emotion that way he can see that plan through to the end

Many fairy tales were taken as inspiration for this season. The ‘Ace Ops’ are based on Aesop Fables. Clover is the Lucky Fisherman, Harriet is based on the Tortoise & the Hare, etc. Robyn & her Happy Huntresses are based on Robin Hood & the Merry Men, eating the rich & fighting for the poor. Pietro Polendina is based on Gepetto, Pinocchio’s creator. Penny (Pinocchio) gets turned into a real girl by the Blue Fairy (the previous maiden). The puppet is known for lying, & truth is a constant theme this season. Pinocchio also encounters a giant whale, hence the final scene with Salem. Watts is based on the stories of Sherlock Holmes, which explains the murder mystery going on this season. Jacques Schnee is based on Jack Frost, who brings the cold (dismantling the heating grinds in Mantle & causing a snowstorm) which also connects him with Weiss’s cold theme. Blake & Yang have a Yin Yang theme, which is why they’re so coordinated here. Ruby & Qrow are both inspired by the Grimm Reaper (hence their scythes), so death is a constant theme with their characters, and they slowly realize death/pain follows them wherever they go. First with the Mantle guy they were arrested with, then the sheep girl, then Clover & the Winter Maiden in the finale. Ironwood is the Tin Woodman from Oz, but he loses his heart/humanity instead of gaining it.
Take a mini moment to share on Robin’s VA being Cristina Vee Aka Helluva Boss’s Verosika Mayday’s voice. Also this volume might be the start of the crazy side of the cake that might either be a great one or a cake you might feel terrified on what is in the inside.
1:29:00 if the last thoughts of a maiden is that of a male or an old woman, the power goes to someone random (at least as far as Qrow and others know), that's why only one young female (Winter in this case) was allowed to see Fria.
I genuinely feel like feminine males or those of the non-manly type should be fitted for a male Maiden and I hope whenever V10 comes out that the Summer Maiden is that kind of individual so Cinder & Salem cant expect it because it would be so funny if it was a "You thought the Summer Maiden was another female? Nah fam" thing.
@@artistanthony1007why does the idea of a power only women can have make you so uncomfortable? The Maidens work fine as is, frankly having limitations on who can inherit the power is more interesting. Plus, Ozpin only ever reincarnates as a man, but you don’t seem to take issue with that.
The fate of Clover is honestly the greatest injustice since Pyrrah, Jaune and Qrow should start an club or support group at this point, Taiyang can join too
Something I always feel the need to point out is…the Volume 7 premiere was MEANT to be the Volume 6 finale. The writers were gonna leave us to think about how “the Ace Ops arrested Huntsmen with legal weapons for defending civilians from Grimm and stole the relic” for EIGHT MONTHS. I do think it was the right decision to push this chapter back - it meant CRWBY had months to make the sets and assets for Mantle and Atlas, instead of rushing to finish them for use in one episode without the hiatus as a work period. And it meant Volume 6 still ended on a semi-hopeful note, instead of a cliffhanger of abject horror and terror. But…I also think giving people months to stew on that extrajudicial arrest, instead of a week, would’ve made it harder for to deny that the red flags with Atlas, Ironwood, and the Ace Ops were always there.
@Xiao_Long-T77 he'd be ejecting two relics into space, well saving half of an entire kingdom, team rwby got a lot of important people killed and allowed Salem to secure the two relics, he was right...
The interesting thing is, Rooster Teeth had everything already in progress while the show was coming out, and they never intended for Qrowver to be a pairing. But then the fans latched onto them...
Yeah. I get why people were hurt, but also…Clover’s death was narratively significant, already written and animated, when people started shipping Fair Game. What could CRWBY have done? Tweet out “oh don’t get attached to that ship” and spoil the fact something gruesome would happen?
@@maxinesteuer1959 Part of the backlash, if I remember right, was because it looked like they were adding the ship to advertisements (though that may have been people putting on their shipping goggles), so when he died people accused them of queer baiting and Bury Your Gays.
Qrow's voice change is extremely noticeable for me. It's super jarring, especially because I normally can't notice this sort of thing. No gunpowder, they use dust instead. I assume normal fire dust for normal guns. So technically everyone with guns is using dust. Quick reminder that the Fall Maiden was roaming around freely. It wasn't until she was attacked and critically injured that they needed to put her on life support and hide her incase of more attacks. However, you do have a point about the Winter Maiden's situation. Haven almost fell but they managed to stop the demolition of the academy and saved the relic. I may not like this volume as a whole but I can't deny that it had some great moments. Glad y'all enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to more!
1:00:07 This is actually a very funny unintentional reference. During another Rooster Teeth project (Lets Play for Destiny 2. Otherwise known as "The Salt Raid" There is a moment during all of the arguments where Geoff yells "We are not friends. We are Coworkers"
About why they can't have male assistants, it might be because when a maiden dies the powers go to the woman she was thinking about when dying, if any, or a random girl if she thought about something else. So, if she only sees one woman for years, there are high chances of that woman receiving the powers, but if she also sees a lor of guys helping her and talking to her daily she might think about them instead, and then the power goes to a random person
Ah yes, Clover and Qrow. The ship Rooster Teeth had to explicitly deny because everyone was accusing them of playing into the bury your gays trope even though they already had merch planned for them as a pair.
I'm gonna point out an annoying thing about the RWBY fandom is that there are so many people getting on the groups back for lying to Ironwood painting it as them using him which couldn't be furthest from the truth so thank you for immediately recognizing why Ruby felt like she had to lie to General Ironwood it's not that they didn't want to trust him it's more like they didn't know if he could handle the truth about everything they learned from Jinn and the end of the Volume 7 proves them right because Ironwood snapped from the stress he couldn't handle it and this is something that is never explained but it's why he's like this Ironwood's semblance is called Mettle it strengthens his resolve, allowing him to carry through with making tough decisions and helped him hyper-focus on whatever he needed to focus on. Basically once Ironwood has his mind completely set on something he won't change his mind no matter who or what gets in his way Mettle however is a passive semblance meaning that it essentially acts as the uncompromising aspect of Ironwood's personality. It emboldened him to act swiftly and helped lessen the psychological burden of difficult decisions; if anything got in the way of his goals, he took action to eliminate the variable from the equation as soon as possible. However, this had the consequence of feeding into his paranoia, making him hesitant to take advice from or even trust those closest to him. the sole exception to this being Winter Schnee by his own admission. Unfortunately Mettle is unable to fully suppress his mental burdens or mounting stress, nor could it grant him true emotional clarity, at best, it could make him appear calm and collected, even when he was acting otherwise.
ngl I want to see the RWBY X Justice League (part 1) for the Jaune moments cus damn those hurt. Also I really hope VIZ Media can pull another seasons of RWBY off, would be a shame if the show "officially" died just after getting It's "second wind" from all the react content
Hio you might have forgotten it becaurse it was mentioned in a sideline but the reason why not even as male is alout by the winter maiden is. "if a man is in the last thought of a maiden the power goes to someone random" so that won´t be good for them.
One of the neat, tragic bits of writing are that the Schnees are following the 4 response of abuse: Willow (the Mom) is Freeze, Winter is Flight, Weiss is Fight, and Whitley is Fawn.
Holy crap I never even realized that. That's GENIUS.
Blake was the first to comfort Weiss when Jacques was guilt tripping her because she knew exactly what he was doing, she's seen Adam do the same to her.
Ok stab me in the heart again
I know first hand what that was like. My mom did the same with my older sisters and me...
The thing is that it wasn't that Ruby wasn't sure she could trust Ironwood's loyalty, but rather she wasn't sure if she could trust his judgement
& she was right.

Hope we get at least two seasons. One season would really be too little to count how many things they left to tie up in these last seasons
They either might redo it, or keep it going. Either way hope they finish it well I enjoyed the whole show
Twelve seasons would make for the best pacing given what we've gotten so far.
I also made this my head canon lol
Semi-fun fact, the mine they fight the Geist in is the one that Ilia’s parents died in during the accident that got it shut down. Hence why Blake was so uncomfortable when she realised what it was.
I think it's suppose to be Adam actually, at least according to the director's commentary.
Well said.
Both of these characters are acting true to form and in a way that both necessarily puts them in conflict without demonizing either side beyond intentional music placement (which makes sense bc obviously RWBY are the POV)
Call me utilitarian but I sympathize more with Ironwood at this stage (not looking to season 8) because ignoring RWBYs main character track record, Torchwick's old remark holds firm "you wanna be the hero? Then go ahead and die like every other huntsman and huntress in history!" They had tried to hold Mantle and already took a hammering doing so, what chances did they have signing up for round two with Salem at their heels?

Still feels so thematically appropriate for Weiss’s grandfather’s armor to be the one to stop Jacques from escaping
Ok so to be clear:

Clover targets Qrow because "orders" even when Qrow's targetting Tyrian
Qrow knows he cannot beat both at once. Clover thinks he can, seemingly.
Qrow's apparent gambit: Get Clover out of the fight for now, deal with Tyrian, maybe talk Clover out of it
Clover somehow manages to disable Tyrian.

43:51

We dont see Ren have a sheath for it even in V4 so I dont blame them for not remembering or thinking that.

2:55:28 Many complained about what happened to Ironwoods Character but without going into spoilers, he showed so many signs like this, even as early as V2.
Besides, heroes making mistakes just makes them human - and when they don't, that's how you get a Mary Sue
Also if people could stop claiming they know what choices fictitious characters written by someone else would've made under different circumstances based on their subjective reading of the story, that'd be great, thanks
That's all I'll say to avoid spoilers, but if y'all wanna watch it, I for one would be down to see it here :)
ngl I am one of those that the Anime hasn't landed with, I don't think there's anyuthing bad about It the writing for me is just too iffy, for me personally
But to each their own of course
Are you suggesting they stop the world from turning?
@ No haha, but it’s going to be a lot like the end of the Disney movie Raya and the Last Dragon. Where it’s the villain who will ultimately end up giving the protagonist’s their dubb. Remember the gods said that Salem must learn a lesson, and she hasn’t learned it yet.

@@maxinesteuer1959 uhhh no we really don't and what? No, Blake was struggling to see illia lol,
@@jamesrobson8308 Because Illia could camouflage remember thats her ability as a faunus
@Xiao_Long-T77 yeah no shit but if Blake had night vision like it's apparently claimed then she would of been able to see her.
Honestly, I fell in love with this series, and I hope, as a viewer and fan, that all whom watched this far, still enjoying as much as I did back on its day, and still do in the future.
For the Sorta Stupid Team, thank you so much guys for keep bringing us this.
RWBY Volume 1: Team RWBY has fun adventures at school
RWBY Volume 7: Team RWBY are declared enemies of the state
Imagine Team FNKI experienced this
So fun fact about the four Schnees aside from Jacques, they all embody a common response to abuse. Willow (The Mom) is Freeze, Winter is Flight, Weiss is Fight, and Whitley is Fawn.
3:23:57 "Give up. We've got you outnumbered."
Neo: "So what? I've got you outclassed."
It also shows that James values Fria
He could've just ordered to kill her and Fria would have complied since she was so loyal but she wanted more time and Ironwood accommodated for her to be as comfortable as she could be until the very end.
It wasn't ideal however under the circumstances it was the best that could be done
@Titanfell-d3i Absolutely. Our Tin Man with a heart. 🦾♥️

"No... I had a job to do" is one of the hardest lines
2:28:50 That was his semblance
2:34:30 The mission no one else wanted taught/improved his skills at organizing people together.
Also all the bullets are propelled by dust because they don't have gunpowder
Yang uses fire dust for all of her bullets. You can see the fire come out
1:28:30 the Fall Maiden was allowed to be free before, that is how she was attacked in the first place. She was traveling along and was attacked by Cinder. After the attack, she was in a coma and was kept isolated to protect her from attach again. Presumably, the Winter Maiden also had her own life and is only isolated now as she is nearing her death.

The best advice I can give is take the pain meds at the scheduled times even if you don't feel in pain, if your lucid after waking up be careful about drinking anything as the lower lip will basically be numb and it's hard to tell if your spilling and try not to lay on your side as waking up in jaw pain isn't fun
12:04 That realization of who it was is just too good! 🤣
Wait a minute because blake recognized it dosent that mean thats where illias parents died im calling it same exact dust mine
I think that's the implication, yes.
@Celestia282 well I just noticed that while using the reaction to speedrun watching to catch up
You are correct
The UPROARIOUS joy about Penny coming back is exactly how all of us felt.
Sadly I don't think it's ever explained in the series, but the reason Ren follows Ironwood so much is because he's reminded of his father + he feels like they have very little control/power to do anything and falls in line to the strongest person he sees
It's really sad and I know a few fans don't really like it but I think it makes Ren so interesting! He's had his simple life taken away from him so young, it's normal to follow orders as a trauma response
Keep in mind that Ozpin, and therefore Oscar, has *more* than just his semblance. He has magic. I won't spoil the significance of their cane, but just bare in mind that you are correct. With Oscar's aura broken, even *if* he knew what his semblance was, he wouldn't usually be able to use it.

volume 3 is still my favorite because it was the first time the show showed that "no one was safe" as it killed a semi main character off... that being said they haven't done that since so....
This volume had everything. Comedy, drama, awesome music, beautiful animation, badass fight scenes (some of the best of the entire series in my opinion), so many emotions, and one of the best cliff hanger endings.
3,7,8 and 9 are the best ones I believe. But I do agree that 7 is probably the strongest in both story and characters
Same. The last three episodes of 7 are some of my favorite episodes of anything.
Used to be mine too. Volume 9 did major psychological damage on me and I love it
2:13:26 the kid going “hey mom, it’s snowing!” Is cute for two seconds because he’s so excited, and then it immediately switches to the horrifying reality that wait, Mantle is literally in the tundra where people will freeze to death.

People like this should get locked up, like really. Thats so dumb
The part that makes me sob the most, when Pietro shows how he gave Penny part of his soul to create her aura, it goes to show how much he truly IS her father, she's literally got a part of his soul 😭💜
So this season's premiere was originally gonna be 6's finale but they didn't have the time to make all the new assets for a single episode
There are some important factors to consider about the Ace-Ops vs RWBY fight
Ironwood doesn't seem to send out his agents into the world; he keeps them close.
She’s also RWBY’s first canonically transgender character, which had (non-bigoted) fans VERY excited.
i did not need to know that

May Marigold my beloved 💜
Now I just have to wait for 6 more weeks for Vol 8 reaction 😭
IKR? Wild that they recorded this right before the election. I know it was paywalled for awhile, don't begrudge them that, gotta make that money. But I like these long RWBY binge sessions.
3:11:28 Wow, he really is the scorpion from The Scorpion and the Frog. He stings because it’s in his nature to sting, even if it kills him
I feel like the Ace Ops intro fight works so well specifically because for all they’re showing off, we DO see their weaknesses.
"Out of an abundance of caution, guard the truth."
Then as a lesser point:
Team RWBY wasn't sure that the one they were guarding the truth from was indeed an ally; but Ozpin had valid reason to believe that the ones he shared the truth with would not 'remain' allies... in which case, his trust would be misplaced.
I just caught up on your RWBY reactions, and then you drop this! Love it!
to be fair whitley was abondoned by both his sisters at a young age his mother never cared for him and his father was abusive tbh i understand why hes a dick to wiess and why he clings to jaques so much hes like the only person who doesnt leave him i think hes bad but not as bad as people say
omgggg pls don't take so long to post more RWBY haha, i love it so much❤️❤️
Many fairy tales were taken as inspiration for this season.
"It'll be just like Beacon again!" Sobbing, screaming
Take a mini moment to share on Robin’s VA being Cristina Vee Aka Helluva Boss’s Verosika Mayday’s voice.
Also this volume might be the start of the crazy side of the cake that might either be a great one or a cake you might feel terrified on what is in the inside.
Honestly after watching your reactions to Rwby, I’m definitely motivated to get back to watching the other Volumes
I love how the Ace Ops theme sounds like it's straight out of a comic book superhero movie.
Ironwood was right. Whats more important? The lives of everyone in mantle or the lives of the entire world including mantle?
No he's wrong, by abandonning Mantle, the rest of the world will follow if he runs away
@Xiao_Long-T77 he'd be ejecting two relics into space, well saving half of an entire kingdom, team rwby got a lot of important people killed and allowed Salem to secure the two relics, he was right...
I literally just finished watching the Volume 6 reaction, couldn't be a better timing thank you !! ❤❤
2:59:20
Salem: Your mother
Ruby: *cries*
2:19:10 Actually that is Weiss' Grandpa, Nicholas Schnee. Founder of the SDC, before it was corrupt.
Watching this the day before the election is crazyyyyy lmao hope y’all are doing ok down there
I love how in the Haven arc everyone actually came together and helped each other, and then this arc is the complete opposite
Jacques mentioning Weiss’s mom is foreshadowing when Salem does the same thing with Ruby
Man the wait between these rwby binge episodes KILLS me
Qrow's voice change is extremely noticeable for me.
Ruff’s face is very expressive, it’s nice to watch him during these reactions
Everyone uses dust, dust is the gunpowder and special effects of their weapons, Weiss definitely uses it the most though
I have to know, if Red vs Blue will replace RWBY once you finish volume 9 and the 2 part movie
ngl I want to see the RWBY X Justice League (part 1) for the Jaune moments cus damn those hurt.
Also I really hope VIZ Media can pull another seasons of RWBY off, would be a shame if the show "officially" died just after getting It's "second wind" from all the react content
Not to mention rwby chibi!
@@dragonsvideos6737 I would like to see them react to RWBY Chibi.
Hio you might have forgotten it becaurse it was mentioned in a sideline but the reason why not even as male is alout by the winter maiden is.
"if a man is in the last thought of a maiden the power goes to someone random" so that won´t be good for them.
