I use both and the Huawei wins by far, it is very practical and much faster, the pencil is much more useful, although it does not feel like a real pencil, it is not necessary because you get used to it quickly, it is not a big deal, one prefers more that the device is useful to give you a feeling of being a real book ...... Then the loading speed as well as the download speed is quite fast, the loading speed of the pencil is very fast and with only 5min of loading of the pencil you already have to use it for 5 hours easily.
Note-taking on the Huawei far outperforms the Kinddle. In Kinddle it has a more polished system in sight to order books, but it seems to me that everyone looks for these Tablets with a pencil for the utility of the pencil, and in that Huawei is undoubtedly better.
There are applications that you can download in Huawei to access books beyond just amazon or you can access applications like world, excel, or powerpoint from the Matepad paper.
In short, the Kindle is only good for reading on Amazon, in everything else the Huawei almost always surpasses it.
I am about to buy one of them, I want it for reading manga and I noticed that the Huawai it's not enough dark to dark images... Which one should I choose? Thank you
Even if I had the money, I would not buy these two. First eink reader & note taking device released by them, still require a lot of improvements for this price tag
The best part about the Kindle Scribe, to me, is COMPETITION! Even though Amazon's software may be lacking at the moment, more companies entering the e-ink space will hopefully lead to more innovation across the board. Great video!
Yeah and from personal experience amazon ereaders are built to last, unlike the boox products i used so i hope longevity transferred to this product.
Hi, for purely using as an e-reader, is the Scribe the best 10” size screen that also has front and WARM light that is currently available?
I'm rather happy with the Scribe so far. Now I just need a smaller reader for on-the-go. The scribe came in handy on my treadmill!
I really don't think the huawei pencil is such a big problem. Not being compatible with wacom-pencils is a downer but the huawei pencil is included and the charging isn't an issue at all. The pen charges really fast and since you just need to place it on the side to do so, you'll probably never run out of battery.
Also since you can install the kindle app on the matepad paper, the book store and reading experience is just as good. Huawei's native bookstore is probably only properly usable by the chinese audience.
To the average fair weather user, no it is not a big deal,
You buy this product, you hold the pen in your hand, you draw on the surface, done. It's like somebody driving a Chevy cruze, "it's a car"
But when you're in our industry, it is a huge deal
To have a pen that feels terrible, the tips don't last forever, the battery drains, there's no eraser at the back, there's no secondary or tertiary button, it needs to be connected via Bluetooth, and it needs to be synchronized, and you can't use it on any other device...
These are gigantic issues in the world of Wacom pens, emr, active capacitive, etc. It is a massive deal if you look at it the way we are looking at it
We really do appreciate your comment :-)
@@goodereader thanks for your answere :)
How a pen feels is kind of subjective - so I'll Just give you that point. If you don't like it, you're stuck with it and having no choice is a bad thing. But it's worth to mention that other reviewers who are heavily into ereaders and note taking as well liked that pen.
But the charging and bluetooth connection really isn't an issue in every day experience. The connection works seamless and unless you're taking notes multiple hours nonstop - which just isn't a realistic scenario - you won't have problems with the battery.
I still see your point: wacom compatibility would be better. But only for a niche in a niche this will be a dealbreaker.
There are nickel coated tips available for the m-pencil. I'll try them - perhaps they'll get rid of the rubberly feel of the default tips.
Yeah for sure, you seem to have a good grasp on the situation, in our industry and for our job we have to nitpick,
It wouldn't be enough as reviewers and journalists to just say "yeah it's fine"
Because in reality, comparing to something like an onyx which is free to use anything, or a Hyread , or King Jim, the Huawei is one of the most restrictive epaper devices when it comes to taking notes and has little to no cross-compatibility with anything else on the market

1st_ the Huawei eraser is touch-sensitive, you don't have to turn the pencil to erase, you can erase faster, and with certain applications you can configure the button to do other things than just erase, if you had tried it with other apps you would have noticed that it has several customizable features.
2nd_ Why would you want your pencil to work with other Ebooks? It's weird to demand that of a light pen. Many times you don't need to synchronize the pencil since you don't always use it, and having it synchronized always uses up battery, that is, you should test the battery life of both tablets to see which one runs out faster, in the Kindle try it with the pencil (According to you, it does not use up battery, although according to science it does, Wacon pens transfer energy in a similar way to wireless charging) and on Huawei try it without the pen and on another occasion with the pen to see if there is a difference. You should also test the loading speed. But in general the huawei pencil charges fast and will always be charged if you have it attached to the Ebook.
3rd_ Is it really more important that the pencil feels like a real pencil? Or is it more important that the pencil be more practical and useful?
4th_ The tip of the pencils wear out, it doesn't matter which pencils, the KINDLE pencil wears out because it has contact with the screen, and that friction reduces the tip of the kindle and huawei pencil, it is inevitable that all the pencils wear out, and the replacement of the Huawei is not expensive, what is expensive is the complete pencil, but the replacement tips are not expensive.
The true test of any e-pad is how long it takes a cat to sit on it, when left on a desk. My paper pads take about 10 minutes.
The Kindle has always stood out for me but it is nice to see good competitors coming along.
I am surprised by the quality of both e-readers, good to see the evolution from the beginning.
OMG Im in LOVE with this channel, keep going !
here for the contest, and... good review on these 2, thanks!
I like how the Huawei has smaller bezels. If kindle ever comes out with an oasis (page turn buttons) that is a little bigger, maybe 8", and supports notes I may get it. 10.2" just seems unnecessarily large for reading to be its primary function.
Is this good for drawing as well? Like the pentab?
Thank you for these reviews! Keep up the good work!
Great stuff. always good to see what new products are coming to the market and how they evolve
I’m actually pretty interested in the Kindle, myself. One of those things I’ll scope out next Black Friday, for sure.
Thanks for the comparison! Hard to decide what device to go for...
I really like how they compare those e-readers
I have no need for a note taking device, but the idea of a 10 inch ereader is pretty appealing. I have terrible eyesight.
These are getting so close, almost good enough for me to want to buy one.
Even though I'm not a fan of either company it's good to have competition in the e-note industry
Another solid review, thanks for giving us such great insights.
Oooo I love how large the screens are - I'd love either one for use as an e-reader.
The Scribe look so smooth!!!
the kindle looks great. looking forward to seeing how further testing goes.
Really cool to see these compared to the remarkable 2!
Kindle Scribe is definitely my next buy!
Competition, always welcomed. Hoping to see more from Huawei
I prefer the scribe, huawei sure looks better, and have a better OS, but the screen in the scribe rocks for me 😁
These devices are getting pretty good. I like more "yours" device rather than amazon options.
I need a screen like this, so I can read manga in a more natural way.
Great comparison. Thanks for the demonstration.
It's amazing how many options we have these days!
It's a shame these e-readers are so expensive for what they do. If only we could find some way to make normal tablet batteries last as long as these things, or have a double-sided one with a normal screen on the other side :)
Honestly Huawei seems to be a good deal even though I am such a fan on Kindle (obviously lol)
Besides the personalisation, I don't get why someone would go for the Huawei over the Kindle. The audio out is nice to have though, I wish more e readers had that.
Thanks for the comparison!
I love the kindle more ...it's really beautiful😍
The huawei matepad paper is a category of its own. It is basically a tablet computer with e-ink display.
Great comparison. I prefer the Kindle.
I take most of my notes on OneNote. I want to understand how well the Huawei works with OneNote.
Both are a bit too big for me, 8 inch would be the sweetspot. But out of the two the Scribe is going to be lots better if it got updated by Amazon. Writing is still so limited
I am quite tempted for this!
E paper is evolving so fast
Amazon has stated they will add handwriting recognition next year.
I agree with other commenters-competition will push developers to keep releasing better hardware and software
Great video, as always! 😊
A big fan of Kindle, and would have loved if they made the oasis a note taking one. Those buttons in an ebook reader is the best thing for me, easy way to read in bed without worrying about accidental touch. Hope they are gonna do that one day
I really like both devices, but the lack of focus on the righting experience for the Kindle and the bad pen with the huawei is just unacceptable for an E-reader that is geared toward taking notes.
Both are beautiful products. 👍
The only thing the Huawei seems to be better than Kindle is that you can manage your apps. As a Boox user, that's a really big thing. Although as the market looks right now, I'll keep to Boox and Boyue
The reading experience on kindle is the best, but Amazon didn't give us the software update for the notebook feature that we deserve on the kindle scribe. Huawei Matepad software system seems nice but the hardware is not good enough such as the pen and the screen ppi. In conclusion, it's hard to decide which products to choose and that makes me mad is that the technology is there but all the company is just somehow missing all the opportunities to make the perfect products.
I just wished they put a 7 or 8 inch version
Not having waterproof is step backwords for me. Not that the Oasis worked anyway
I hope Amazon will improve Sribe capabilities with future updates.
I hope Amazon sells just the tips too. Would definitely buy
I wish amazon put a bit more effort into the notetaking software
There's still a lot to do before considering this kind of device as an option.
Amazon should definitely support third-party apps on their e-notebooks if they want to make any dent in the market.
The perfect gift for the Christmas
It’s hard to not take into consideration of the concerns of spyware
Nice comparison, way to go
Both are great devices, i want one!
Excellent review my guy
The good ereader team consists of over 40 people, but yes, thank you very much :-)
Won't get it but I love ur content. Thanks for the good work.
I'd love to have one of this
Great job on this!
Wow, the M-Pencil is honestly a dealbreaker...
Liked and shared on Twitter. I like these compare videos
If only the software would be better on the Scribe. Right now I would pick the Huawei...
great video. keep up the good work
Great review!! Thanks!!
I have done all 3 things!
I think Onyx still gives best versatility, others lust lock you into their ecosystem.
Good to hear some downside of both!
Hey a.
Thanks for always stopping by too and be part of the community :-) yes, there are of course pros and cons to both :-)
After my kobo forma that I only read a single book on it I will keep reading and taking notes on my samsung galaxy tab s7
Even with the downside of the pen, I prefer the Huawei Paper
Good review. Thank you.
That devices are both great!!
Of the 2 I like the Scribe better, but still waiting for a new oasis.
Thanks for the review
I didn't know about Huawei e-ink products.
Commenting for the giveaway 🤩
Kindle Scribe wins.
There's no reason to get the huawei instead of the kindle tbh. And I'm also on board for competition for amazon.
I'm liking these devices more lately but they are still expensive and limited.
Great review! :)
Huawei feels more functional, and at the end of the day it is the most important quality for me: functionality. The pen sucks, yeah, but maybe you could get a better pen for it if you needed to? Although I missed if Huawei also has 300 DPI or less.
It’s hard to replace the Huawei pen because it has its own proprietary tech, unlike something universal like UPI, Wacom or MPP. If I remember correctly it’s 266 ppi, which is similar to an iPad.
@@sloppynyuszi oh, I see. Well, that's a shame. I hope they produce something more universal in that case
The Huawei looks very sleek but definitely has some problems that they need to resolve.
Huawei might not have access to Wacon tech because of this whole embargo thing
Could have very well been the case, but remember this came out 8 months ago, so it's hard to remember what exactly was going down at the beginning of the year
But, yeah, definitely plausible
@@goodereader wasn't the embargo started by Trump? So it should be before 2020
I hope this makes other companies release better eInk tablets.
What a beautiful device
Interesting comparison
This one is dope!❤
Matepad looks very sleek.
happy holiday!
Nothing to say really. I am on the boox lumi 2 for this cycle. Was send here by the giveaway video.
Huawei's android vs Amazon's kindle ecosystem, tough choice...
The Huawei pen is an issue, but I think overall it's better than Kindle
