What marvelous piece of equipment. Yes!, it reduce stress due to bring fresh air, seeing natural lights, and waste carry away. Before it employs how many people? Before 30, present only 2. Great!!!
I would agree with you, we hope regulations will force all produces to upgrade their facility over time. Unless that happens it is difficult for operations like ours to provide even better infrastructure since that would mean we would have to compete with other lower cost producer and there is just not enough margin for us to manage that as of now. Even within our very tight budget and margin limitations we have always implemented the best infrastructure possible. Our cost of production is generally around 3.5% higher than other producers but our product fetches zero premium over other producers since most Indian customers are extremely price conscious.
Looking into Chicken Farming here in the US. This looks so much better, I would like to utilize this here. Don't know what it would take but I like what I see.
Hard to believe but that's true depending on the sector. Majority of young Indians prefer to work in office environments and a field operations such as ours has demand for employees with certain livestock management skills and we find it very hard to attract and retain those people.
A large number of the farms in India have very bad conditions, but it's an ongoing process where larger farms are adopting better practices and see value in doing that. At Megha Farm we are open to scrutiny and have regular auditing from multiple organisations since ours eggs are used by food product manufacturers that are export oriented.
Peter Patel We have placed around 40k birds in this particular unit. It's definitely cleaner and more hygienic compared to other similar operations in the country. The cost depends on a lot of factors such as land price, exchange rate, existing infrastructure etc... I would suggest you speak to Azra Poultry Equipments in Bangalore for more information, their contact no is +91 80 22262117
hi what is the size in acres and how many batteries are there operating ,also which bird is this and whats the production life span & what was the cost in $.
The farm is spread across 20 acres across three different sites for maximum bio security. The bird used in our farm is a Babcock that has been genetically selected for Indian conditions over the last few decades though Lohman seem to be making some inroads in India recently. The typical production life span is from 18 weeks to 72-80 weeks. The cost for the new system is almost twice that of a traditional system but over the long run we expect it to pay off in terms of hygiene, bird health, productivity etc
amir khan yes it's from Hellmann, Germany. I would suggest you speak to them directly since the project requirement varies from location to location. you can contact them at www.hellmannpoultry.com

Where is the Biosecurity in India? People without protective cover are entering the layers. This allows transfer of zoonotic diseases... So unhygiene....
Bio-security is definitely lacking a lot in India, we have tried to improve bio-security at our operation by following most of the recommended procedures. * For example at our operations our brooding facility is located at a different site with it's own staff and infrastructure to avoid cross infection. * Our egg storage and dispatch warehouse is located 4 KM away from the farm to make sure no outside vehicle with any contamination enters our farm premises * In our newer units we are adopting an all-in-all-out system to make sure no 2 flocks of different age groups are placed at the same location * we provide the visiting technicians and vaccinators with our in-house equipment to avoid spread of infection between different facilities * We do not allow any personnel to enter the farm premises if they have visited any other similar facilities * All vehicles pass through a medicated dip and is sprayed with disinfectants. There is still ample scope for improvement and it's an ongoing process for us.
What marvelous piece of equipment. Yes!, it reduce stress due to bring fresh air, seeing natural lights, and waste carry away. Before it employs how many people? Before 30, present only 2. Great!!!
Amazing Video. Really amazing farm.
These look better than what we have here in USA however there is still a need to give MORE space to the birds......

Hard to believe but that's true depending on the sector. Majority of young Indians prefer to work in office environments and a field operations such as ours has demand for employees with certain livestock management skills and we find it very hard to attract and retain those people.

Diego Asturias this is as cruel as it gets locked in these tiny cages for years
Keep in mind this is a company-presentation video, so they're certainly not going to show a badly managed farm.
