So you put a cutting mat, fabric and then your machine? I like your set up with everything small and close to you. I have the same little iron.
I have a cutting mat, a non-slip machine pad, and then my machine. It's handy (especially when filming) to have everything right there!
Very pretty. I really like the colors. Pillows are so fun to make. Thanks for sharing.
They are...it's always nice to finish a small project every now and then.

Great tutorial and tip for cutting blocks
Thank you for watching!
What a beautiful block Stephanie
Thank you so much Della!
I love how you are very meticulous about pressing your seams down. I only have one question. Do you set your seams first? I have watched Kimberly from fat quarter and she sets the seam before pressing it to one side. I didn't know if there was a rule to pressing. I am so new to all of the rules. Learning as I go.
Hi there and welcome to quilting! There really is no 'rule' and don't let anyone tell you there is! You do what works for you. I do set my seams if I am not using the pressing pen, but it's not necessary when I use it. I will tell you the better you press the better the result of your quilt/project. I am a longarm quilter as well and I can always tell when someone has pressed well versus not. Hope you are loving quilting...remember that it is a cross country run, not a sprint! Enjoy the journey!❤
Beautiful pillow top!
I love how it turned out...I just have to get the right size pillow form so I can finish!
do you ever use pins?? Your points seem to be always right there!!!???!!!!?? Thanks for another great tutorial ! I have started to cut the sashing strips AFTER i complete the block. I somehow seem to come up short.
I do pin sometimes, but not much. It's years of sewing! And pressing really well...that is really important!
Your daughter is adorable.
thank you!
You sew over the pins, what kind of pins are they?
Magic Pins...the fine and extra long ones. The are very small so they don't bother my machine.
Could not find the bloombox site. Do you have a link?
www.bloomeriefabrics.com/products/2021-holiday-bloombox?_pos=2&_sid=198783be9&_ss=r
So that is from Murray Fabrics? Is that how we find the boxes?
Michael Miller fabrics I believe. There is a link to the Bloom box in one of my previous videos.
This will be a beautiful pillow!
I can't wait to finish it!
Your sweater is lovely and it looks 😍 beautiful on you. This block is beautiful 😍. I think it will be great with my collection of scraps. Thank you for sharing 🙂
Aww, thank you! The block was fun!
That is so pretty
Thank you Nancy!
Hello from North Carolina. I am a beginner. How do you hang your design wall? Could I put a quilt sandwich on a design wall? Up to what size?
Hi there...my design wall is made from heavy weight felt and then my husband tacked it up for me in the molding with tiny little pins. If your wall is strong enough, yes, you could put a quilt sandwich up there...I have with most of my smaller projects!
When you say "pressing open " do you mean opening the seam?
yes...instead of pressing to one side or the other, when you turn your block over, open the seam in the back and press it down.
You look nice today with your splash of makeup
Aww, thanks!
Super cute
What size is the cutting mat under your machine?
12 x 18
I don’t even you muslin or any backing, I just put batting and quilt it
Why do you use a pressing pen?
To get nice flat seams! It's personal preference...the flatter the seams the better my quilts look after quilting. 🙂
I looked at the patterns for the long arm quilting. You have patterns that are not very heavy? Too much quilting, it loos like the quilt might be to flat and hard, not very comfortable to wrap around. I don't know really, I am new, just asking your opinion.
I never quilt densely unless someone asks for it because it can make a stiff quilt. All of my patterns can be adjusted larger or smaller for the quilt I am working on. 🙂
@@StephaniesStitches awesome. I want to make a quilt for my son. I know I am new and I have to start small but I really want to make something that he will love and keep when I am not here anymore. He is slim but 6'2 and likes black and red mostly. What size quilt will you recommend. He is 26. Can you recommend a pattern. Something not densely quilted that he can wrap around and be comforted. I know I can't quilt something big like that and once is finished I will like to send it to you. I Iike the way you work and your caring energy 💝
@@StephaniesStitches also could you recommend a quilt pattern for a man in those colors. He likes mostly red and black. Do I need to wash the fabric before because of the red or it depends on the quality of the fabric? I value your opinion very much.
Please disregard my last message...lol..I found it...I blame it on baking too much. My mind isnt all over the place
🤣 Sounds like something I would do, LOL!
You look great. Love the sweater and the color.
Thanks so much Maria!
