@@easyeddystrees I bought a used chain breaker and rivet spinner for cheap and mounted them on a piece of aluminum plate so can be mounted anywhere so not robbing my shop space,
I hate sound like the fun police but please don't hit a hardened hammer with a hardened hammer. A friend of mine lost an eye doing exactly that. I got a piece of shrapnel through one knee doing something very similar. In one side, followed the joint and almost exited the other side. I knew better but in the heat of getting the job done I made a critical mistake. I struck a hardened piece of steel with another hardened piece of steel. 2 hardened ball peens is a definite no no. Hammers are tough but when hitting something of the same hardness they can chip off a little piece much easier than many realize. Rivet spinners are cheap compared to surgeries, recovery and lost time at work.

You've inspired me.
Might make some chains too.
It's nice to have the option in the shop in case you don't have time to go to the dealer for premade chain during the busy season.
Good on Ya !!
Yeah, getting hit with even a salt grain size chip ain't good
Made a lot of chains that way. I hold down he tie bar with a screw driver and just peen it. Not rocket science.
I agree, why spend money and shop space on special tools when you can do the work just fine without them.
