I really can't put in words how empowering it feels. I have been waiting for this app since the second he mentioned it and got his first book already once my world was ok too and I have learned both Portuguese and Spanish with his approach basically. I have suffered chronic headaches that can make focussing / studying difficult at times, then I started to not just have frequent UTIs that I had before but now since over a year chronic painful bladder syndrom. Then I got diagnosed with endometriosis and everything from headaches to bladder issues to getting sick often, diggestion issues and belly cramps everything suddenly started to habe a connection. Now I had several insuries and a surgerx keeping me from training and doing what I love to do besides language learning and so I am forced to put my focus on finding passion in less physical activities. It's just somewhat reassuring to see him still succeeding despites all the obstacles to create something so outstanding and I can't wait to use it!
The reason why I started learning languages is because of you. Thanks to you, a light came on in my life, I'm not exaggerating. I can't even imagine what a difficult two years it must have been for you. I'm sure that your hard work under such circumstances has given courage to countless people! I already really love this app, thank you so much for your consistence. Its features as well as its graphic, character... Everything is on another level!👏 You're really a fantastic person. Honestly the feature I'm most excited abt is Community/interactive gaming. I feel like at the core of it, language learning is about finding and making personal connections. Think abt it, of all the reasons you wanna learn a language, it all comes back to us wanting to connect with something more, even if u want to learn a lang just so u can watch their tv shows/entertainment media, you're still doing so to connect with the characters on a deeper level than your native languages affords you to. Out of hundreds of apps on the market, only a handful have this feature or none at all. Ikenna cracking this code and making it an important characterization of the app is lowkey groundbreaking. So excited for this, wishing you the absolute best my dude!

Sucks that the language i want to learn isn’t available. I know it’s not a very popular language so I have found material hard to find. Hopefully in the future Ikenna can add Dutch. I am still 100% going to support the app development and kickstart because what you are creating is amazing for all language learners. Thanks Ikenna
@@veerlevissenberg7767 it’s not really what’s special about it. It just the only language that appealed to me. I always get asked why and I never have a clear answer. I have been told there’s other languages to learn with so much more learning material. I just see Dutch as a language and the people itself to be beautiful. I knew I wanted to learn it soon as I saw it. It makes my job harder because there is limited learning material. Maybe that’s why I do it. The challenge. I don’t know myself. All I know is no one can change my decision and that’s the language I’m learning.
You think that's challenging? I've been interested in learning Kazakh for a while but I can't think of how the heck to even begin learning other than moving to Nur-Sultan 😂
@@christianbrown3751 how come you can't find any resources for Dutch? Most major language learning apps teach Dutch: Duolingo, LingQ, Babbel, Pimsleur, Busuu, Mondly, Drops and so on
@@pia_mater yes there is those, but I live in Australia and to immerse myself fully I need other things i.e. music, movies, tv shows, books and more. Those are the things that are hard to find. There is about 12 shows in Dutch on Australian Netflix than I’m out of luck. That’s what is hard. Also the language learning courses themselves in the apps you mentioned are a lot shorter than the major languages. 😊

Ikenna, I always knew you could do it with that passion inside of you. As I've mentioned before, I too have a chronic illness, have been sick for 16 years and been in a pretty dark place mentally at times. For me too, my love for learning (languages, science, programming apps and website development) has been what's kept me sane, and kept me alive. I was pretty surprised to find a similar person to me - most of my life, living with my chronic illness has been extremely lonely. I have fought to better myself on my own, but wow was it nice to finally see someone similar to me, not just in terms of life situation but also passions. You made me believe in myself. This video made me shed a tear of happiness for you, because I know that for you, the hardest part wasn't the programming or development of the app - it was to keep going, through the dark pits of despair that chronic illness leaves you in at times. Most of the time, perhaps. And here you are, shining today. Congrats man. Be proud of yourself
Ikenna This has been a tough but incredible journey for you and I just wanna say congratulations. You are about to change language learning for the better. I also thought for the cosmetic items in game could be around the cultures of the languages (examples being a Katana for Japanese a baguette for French etcetera.)
I love how you are trying to make it BOTH as effective, fun and addictive as possible. The fun aspect is definitely lacking in pretty much all language learning programs
You should add Toki Pona! It’s a language with 120 words, just using a combination of words to say pretty much anything not obscure or overly complicated that you could say in English, like Alcohol = Weird Liquid, (telo nasa), Juice = Fruit Liquid, (telo kili), grammar is super simple, I think it’d be a great addition as like a “tutorial” of sorts to learning languages, it only takes about a week to learn all the vocabulary and 1-2 months to master. I hate to be that guy but could you please like this to get Ikenna to notice? (If you have any questions about toki pona, feel free to ask!) Edit: I’ve put a few sources to learn Toki Pona in the replies, it got deleted twice cause of UA-cam’s sensitive TOS, but I’m pretty sure it’s good now. Edit 2: turns out the TOS strikes again! Second reply up, let’s hope it doesn’t get deleted.

On top of that there's also two official books written by the language's creator, a pretty good mobile app that's essentially Duolingo but with flashcards, no ads, and strictly meant for Toki Pona (As far as I know, it’s only on IOS, its logo is a purple background with the glyph for Toki Pona, and its name is, you wouldn’t believe this, “Toki Pona”), and both an official Subreddit, and a Discord server with approximately 20,000 people in each, separately (Sorry for the late reply, again, youtube deleted my reply twice cause its sensitive TOS, I literally wrote this like the hour you replied, so sorry ;~; )

Cherokees have over 500,000 population but only 2,000 fluent speakers. Cherokee teacher here. I know I'm always getting asked about a good app to learn from.

This is so inspiring. I'm currently 29 in congestive heart failure due to having APS syndrome that snuck me on me in the form of a widow maker heart attack at 27. I studied french and Japanese in college and now that I'm more stable I finally decided to get my degree in linguistics. :) Can't wait to be there for the launch !! I have a similar goal, born from all the frustrations carried on from the other language learning apps I've been using till now (and from what I saw, the flashcards and vocab list features, yours is likly to add among them too; as I've always been concerned about the idea of language learning as active memorisation. But anyway.). ...Unlike you, I'm still far from achieving this goal for now, since I'm still in the beginning of my language learning journey. But seing you realising a dream I also carry definetly inspires me on my own journey. So thank you for that.

Sucks that the language i want to learn isn’t available. I know it’s not a very popular language so I have found material hard to find. Hopefully in the future Ikenna can add Dutch. @@veerlevissenberg7767 it’s not really what’s special about it. It just the only language that appealed to me. I always get asked why and I never have a clear answer. I have been told there’s other languages to learn with so much more learning material. I just see Dutch as a language and the people itself to be beautiful. I knew I wanted to learn it soon as I saw it. It makes my job harder because there is limited learning material. Maybe that’s why I do it. The challenge. I don’t know myself. All I know is no one can change my decision and that’s the language I’m learning.
You think that's challenging? I've been interested in learning Kazakh for a while but I can't think of how the heck to even begin learning other than moving to Nur-Sultan 😂
@@christianbrown3751 how come you can't find any resources for Dutch? Most major language learning apps teach Dutch: Duolingo, LingQ, Babbel, Pimsleur, Busuu, Mondly, Drops and so on
@@pia_mater yes there is those, but I live in Australia and to immerse myself fully I need other things i.e. music, movies, tv shows, books and more. Those are the things that are hard to find. There is about 12 shows in Dutch on Australian Netflix than I’m out of luck. That’s what is hard. Also the language learning courses themselves in the apps you mentioned are a lot shorter than the major languages. 😊

Ikenna, I always knew you could do it with that passion inside of you. As I've mentioned before, I too have a chronic illness, have been sick for 16 years and been in a pretty dark place mentally at times. For me too, my love for learning (languages, science, programming apps and website development) has been what's kept me sane, and kept me alive.
I was pretty surprised to find a similar person to me - most of my life, living with my chronic illness has been extremely lonely. I have fought to better myself on my own, but wow was it nice to finally see someone similar to me, not just in terms of life situation but also passions. You made me believe in myself.
This video made me shed a tear of happiness for you, because I know that for you, the hardest part wasn't the programming or development of the app - it was to keep going, through the dark pits of despair that chronic illness leaves you in at times. Most of the time, perhaps. And here you are, shining today. Congrats man. Be proud of yourself
Ikenna This has been a tough but incredible journey for you and I just wanna say congratulations. You are about to change language learning for the better. I also thought for the cosmetic items in game could be around the cultures of the languages (examples being a Katana for Japanese a baguette for French etcetera.)

I love how you are trying to make it BOTH as effective, fun and addictive as possible. The fun aspect is definitely lacking in pretty much all language learning programs
You should add Toki Pona! It’s a language with 120 words, just using a combination of words to say pretty much anything not obscure or overly complicated that you could say in English, like Alcohol = Weird Liquid, (telo nasa), Juice = Fruit Liquid, (telo kili), grammar is super simple, I think it’d be a great addition as like a “tutorial” of sorts to learning languages, it only takes about a week to learn all the vocabulary and 1-2 months to master. I hate to be that guy but could you please like this to get Ikenna to notice? (If you have any questions about toki pona, feel free to ask!)

Me too!! I’m learning Russian on DuoLingo right now, but it’s severely lacking in a lot of areas for me. I can’t wait to see this app’s release and hopefully get expanded into Russian and other languages! Until then, I’ll try to show my support by practicing my Spanish there ❤

I kinda stopped watching you around then because I started dealing with my own stuff, and it sucks that you're still dealing with this illness, but I'm glad you're getting through it! A good business strategy might be offering an endangered language that has few materials but a large population that has a need for those materials. Cherokees have over 500,000 population but only 2,000 fluent speakers. Cherokee teacher here. I know I'm always getting asked about a good app to learn from.

This is so inspiring. I'm currently 29 in congestive heart failure due to having APS syndrome that snuck me on me in the form of a widow maker heart attack at 27. I studied french and Japanese in college and now that I'm more stable I finally decided to get my degree in linguistics. :) Can't wait to be there for the launch !! I have a similar goal, born from all the frustrations carried on from the other language learning apps I've been using till now (and from what I saw, the flashcards and vocab list features, yours is likly to add among them too; as I've always been concerned about the idea of language learning as active memorisation. But anyway.).
...Unlike you, I'm still far from achieving this goal for now, since I'm still in the beginning of my language learning journey.
But seing you realising a dream I also carry definetly inspires me on my own journey.
